They both made mistakes on 2 events, but Alicia got really slammed afterward for "losing" the gold for the US, but Carly never seemed to, though I'd say her mistakes were just as costly.

i think khorkina almost if not completely made up for the vault defecit on bars, though. both were criminally scored for her. the real victim was pavlova. if i were god, i would have made the podium pavlova, khorkina, then whoever deserved bronze on that day.

Carly almost made it worse and overeacted to the dead hang. Some of the smaller girls do that all the time and can hide it very well. That should practiced more. Plus, since she hit her foot on the lower bar, she was clearly panicked and not really thinking clear enough. Too bad.
the romanian leos have the arms ending at the elbow...i dunno why, but does it look weird to anyone else, especially when they swing bars? it brings attention to their shoulders and maybe makes them look shorter? i'm not sure, i can't put my finger on it, it just seems a little odd

I agree with you mesteritza. Romania had more than 2 superstars. They had Ponor, Rosu, Sofronie AND Eremia. They also had Oana Ban who had qualified for the Floor but was injured so couldn't compete. I think she also qualified for BB (but not too sure) and she also qualified for the AA. That counts for more than 2 superstars! The 2000 team won their Gold medal by a mere margin but this team DEFINITELY won the Gold without a doubt!

First its because it was AMERICAS first team gold medal and they were on home turf. and nbc makes it a big deal becuase their an american station. its simply commen sense.
not to get too technical, but the soviet union won all those titles, and since the break up the russians haven't won a single team title. I know there were a ton of talented russian gymnasts before and after the fall of the soviet union, but most of their team success came from having so many gymnasts to chose from. for example, gutsu, boginskaya, and cusovitina just to name a few would not have been on a RUSSIAN team.
and just for the record, i love both teams, they had insane skills and form

Sacramones performance was terrible during the olympics and was the reason why Team USA lost. With that kind of performance and still made it to the national team, I wonder how many coaches did she have to sleep with in order to get the spot. Her ass is so fat, I think her ass is at least 20 pounds extra compared to her teammates. That was why she brought down Team USA. Stupid bitch should go to Jenny Craig. Alicia will go down as the worst, and most disgraceful gymnast in Olympic history.

Carly almost made it worse and overeacted to the dead hang. Some of the smaller girls do that all the time and can hide it very well. That should practiced more. Plus, since she hit her foot on the lower bar, she was clearly panicked and not really thinking clear enough. Too bad.

the romanian leos have the arms ending at the elbow...i dunno why, but does it look weird to anyone else, especially when they swing bars? it brings attention to their shoulders and maybe makes them look shorter? i'm not sure, i can't put my finger on it, it just seems a little odd

all of the team members were out on the floor...mohini i guess was in the practice gym because we was going to take kupets' place on beam.

Mohini didn't know that yet though. The girls only came out when they were competing or when they had no more events left to compete (hence why Kupets and Humphrey weren't there during vault).

Humpries and Kupets really stepped up at Uneven. Romanian that year had only one maybe two superstars that year.

well i think there were at least 4 stars if you look at the medals( gold and silver at fx, gold and bronze at bb and gold at vault)

I agree with you mesteritza. Romania had more than 2 superstars. They had Ponor, Rosu, Sofronie AND Eremia. They also had Oana Ban who had qualified for the Floor but was injured so couldn't compete. I think she also qualified for BB (but not too sure) and she also qualified for the AA. That counts for more than 2 superstars! The 2000 team won their Gold medal by a mere margin but this team DEFINITELY won the Gold without a doubt!

Wrong. US journalists love Khorkina--she's so interesting and newsworthy, that's why they focus on her so much. That was just a little "hey, check this out" remark, it was not meant to be judgmental at all. Seriously, no one in the US cares if she posed for Playboy. Frankly it makes her more interesting.

I am romanian,shame on the judges to take Andreea Raducan's medals ,she took that medicine(which was a cold medicine that should have made her weak) off the banned medicine list now.She was amazing,and off course there is a lot of support we are 30 million romanians throughout this world.We will miss you Octavian Bellu & Maria Bitang,and thank you romanian gymansts!!!I can't wait to see the new team.Good luck,from a romanian living in Us

First its because it was AMERICAS first team gold medal and they were on home turf. and nbc makes it a big deal becuase their an american station. its simply commen sense.

not to get too technical, but the soviet union won all those titles, and since the break up the russians haven't won a single team title. I know there were a ton of talented russian gymnasts before and after the fall of the soviet union, but most of their team success came from having so many gymnasts to chose from. for example, gutsu, boginskaya, and cusovitina just to name a few would not have been on a RUSSIAN team.
and just for the record, i love both teams, they had insane skills and form
