To get a balanced view try reading "No Ma'am that's not history" by Hugh Nibley. Then you can weigh up both sides of the argument. To only read Fawn Brodie is like going into court and only listening to the prosecutor's side. All her arguments in my opinion are soundly beaten by Nibley.

@hammerogod I believe that the bible is a book brought forth by God. But if you really love the bible you need to read it because it testifies of the book of mormon even Joseph Smith. Study and pray about the writings of Isaiah and you will understand. All the supposed born again christians say that we do not love the bible or that we think of it as less of a book. The Book by Richard Abanes is called "One Nation Under Gods: A History of the Mormon Church". I have it. Excellent book. Rather long, but reads a little bit like a movie. It's a really thick book, but roughly 1/3 of it is sources for his information. Very thorough and highly recommended.

But I do have CL THolson (Signed) and he makes a very convincing case for the adam god theory and shows convincingly how it is tied to the polygamy revelation and other immediately related mormon doctrines and covenants. And how historically it has been taught and reinforced through out the history of the mormonite. Also have Sacred Loneliness.
