air asia said i needed a visa to enter vietnam. I directed them to the gov't website. They still told me "NO". They didn't refund my money. I took a bus instead. There was no charge for me to enter vietnam, and no visa required. Air Asia lied to me, stole my money, didn't return my emails.
If you want to get ripped off, roll the dice with Air Asia.
I don't think the buttshot is necessary, but I know why they do it. Without it this ad would be just another boring ad. Sure they could do something else, but then people won't be remembering the ad. This ad works because people remember the ad and the company being advertised, even though it's remembered for the controversy.
Instead of making immoral advertisement like this, the director should make more meaningful video like the following story:
'A foreigner came to work in Malaysia a few years ago. He/she miss his/her family very much, but not affordable to buy air ticket from full service carrier. His/her dream of going back to visit family come true when AirAsia offer cheap fares to his/her home town.' This story is more suitable for making advertisement of LCC like AirAsia.

Most of the tv ads are tested and researched by professionals before airing, it's not like some kacang putih stall by the street where anyone can simply make up a story.
For example, your story will be rejected by FINAS because NO FOREIGNER ARE ALLOWED at local TV station board cast. So stopped thinking you know everything about anything and stick to your kacang putih stall.
We can have some local actor / actress act as a foreigner who immigrated to Malaysia. Or You can find a Malaysian actor / actress to act as a Malaysian student who is now studying in overseas and cannot come back due to high fare by other airlines ........ A lot of other examples.
Whatever you say, this ad still sucks and bring bad education to children.
I think you have no idea about advertising. What you proposing is something that i come out when i was student doing assignment project for South West airline 13 years ago. Yet i got the comment from my lecture saying its a very lame and common story board. No catching element.

AirAsia sell low fare + some meals + some other services. AirAsia does not sell the flight attendant's chess or buttock. So, the advertisement should be all about low fare, in-flight meals, and other services, SHOULD NOT INCLUDE THE CHESS / BUTTOCK.
Passengers pay for AirAsia flights, not pay for watching flight attendant. Flight Attendant beauty or not, hot or not, have good looking chess / buttock or not, all these non of passengers' business and they should not care for it.

I agree that this doesn't truly reflect typical Malaysians, especially kids that young. But this I guess is one of her few (if not her only) commercial that feature people who speak English that well.
Anyway, do you know that Sultan of Selangor once married to a white American? Do you know that Raja Muda of Selangor is half white? Maybe like that kid in this commercial. And Raja is supposed to be the symbol of Malay people, right? What's your take on that? Go back where they belong?
