It must be hard to run this website, but these issues do persist. I wonder if we willl look back at this year on the tube, and marvel at the level of freedom that we had in the earliest days of the site. They did fix the email though.
Dark, actually, for the people who are creating content, we 'are' paying, based on our time, software purchased, computer upgrades, and efforts to put decent content on to YouTube. As stated in AntiSyn's response, there is an agreement in place. We post content, and in return, we get bandwidth, so the 1.6 billion dollar boys can sell ads. So, if they can't fix these problems, the content providers will leave.
You tube used to be a good site. A fine "community" as you put it.
But, I'm afraid there's just too much variety to complain and the head honchos at Youtube not to take action, what with things like google video coming up and whatnot. If they want to corner the market here, then they need to get on the ball, and quickly. I would call for a massive site overhaul myself... oh, if only that were the least of my worries...

This is a fun error. Go to your profile and edit your Date-Of-Birth so it's nothing. Then hit the Update button. Voila! Instant 505 error. It never works!
It only works if you also change something else on the profile list at the same time !, at least that is what I did and it worked, but after doing this, if you then want to watch a flagged video, it will ask for your date of birth before it will let you watch it !, if you enter it and you are old enough, it will then enter what you entered, back on to your profile !, cat and mouse ! lol
YouTube could be a real community full of creative, caring, talented people who post quality content to conect with, inform, entertain and inspire folks but instead it's a breeding ground for the cruel, the immature and the perverted. YouTube has become noticably shabbier since the Google buyout. I just posted two comments, then got the "You have recently posted several comments. Please wait some time before posting" bullshit message. TWO! I posted two!!! How is that several? Then I had to wait like 15 minutes before I could post another. Other crapiness would be the flashing "You're the 1,000,000th visitor, claim your free laptop" ad. I've been the millionth vistor on probably every 5th page I go to on here.
The claim your free laptop advert is something I have never seen myelf, but everyone I have seen mention it so far, lives in Canada !, I heard about it today, after watching the video below:
I definitely feel where you are coming from. I do think that they are becoming more corporatized but I think that can be as good as it is bad. There will definitely be some transition since google bought the company, but I think after some brief birth pains it will turn out alright.

It is conforming. Freedom of speech does not apply to contributors to private media, only to youtube itself since you are entering into a "contract" signing away your rights (terms and conditions).
I always get an error message when I try to reply directly to messages in my inbox. It sends a reply anyway, but tells me it hasn't. That is extremely annoying! When you email for help you just get a standard FAQ response. And videos/comments appearing one minute and not the next. Yeah that's true, on my next main vlog (episode 2) i'm going to talk specifically about featuring because I organised this attempt to get me featured...i had many comments...25+ favs...n 7+ mails sent to editors from my viewers saying it should get featured..but no.
I have been having a great deal of trouble with the view count. A lot of my older videos stopped counting views pretty quickly and even now they don't register views (or in some cases they might add ten views about a day after many more people than ten have watched - the comments and ratings go up but the view stays the same on a lot of them.)
Yes and when there is competition on the most viewed and most discussed charts...i think its important they have quicker view/com,ment refreshes. Allows us to indentify the cheaters alot quicker too which will help them crack down on it!
Weird thing the other day is that all the 'most viewed' channels in the comedians section turned ut to have only about four views at most. It was like they had posted the least viewed by mistake. And the most subscribed in that section is completely off. (Not to mention all the people posting TV programmes they certainly didn't make in that section!)

The view counter seems to be broken on my latest video too. I seem to have gone up in ratings (two or three more since I last checked) but the view counter still reads 270 no matter what. Maybe it will shift eventually. Hope so.
I don't know what's going on. I think it happened on the Stephen King at You Tube video as well ironically - and on Zipster08's featured video last week, but then that one got fixed. Mine are still not fixed and it's still happening!
Sometimes when I view videos in my subscriptions page, videos disappear when I go back to the page! And then it takes like 1 hour for it to return to the correct list. :\

Two things you didn't mention. It REALLY ticks me off when they strip someone of their most viewed, most discussed etc. honors just because some idiot flags the person. This has happen to more than a few really great YouTubers. Really irritating. The other thing that drives me nuts is that whenever I sign on again, it keeps listing videos I've already watched as new.

I don't know what's going on. I think it happened on the Stephen King at You Tube video as well ironically - and on Zipster08's featured video last week, but then that one got fixed. Mine are still not fixed and it's still happening!

Sometimes when I view videos in my subscriptions page, videos disappear when I go back to the page! And then it takes like 1 hour for it to return to the correct list. :\

Two things you didn't mention. It REALLY ticks me off when they strip someone of their most viewed, most discussed etc. honors just because some idiot flags the person. This has happen to more than a few really great YouTubers. Really irritating. The other thing that drives me nuts is that whenever I sign on again, it keeps listing videos I've already watched as new.

Either way: I like the list and the updates are pissing me off with the whole refresh lag and I hate the help support. I just "contacted" them the other day and got the lovely automated e-mail that had NOTHING to do with my question. I'll make my video on this tomorrow since I have a few things I'd love to add on to there.

Yeah that totally sux. And then your mind turns easily to other things and you forget about it. Or, that happens to me often. Ow well found out the JVC camcorder service centre is not that far away, but it isn't easy to get there. I might go there instead of whine in the shop without receit.

I noticed this was showing up added 3 times to your vlog in a short period of time. I don't know if that was intentional or you pounding away at the refresh to make it actually show the entry. I know mine doesn't obey the ordering.

I suggest Pinnacle Studios Pro 10 :o) I got a cheap copy off ebay! Highly recommend! but uses up a lot of space!
