  • I am sorry, but from what I see in this demo, I can certainly understand why, your horses experienced pain with the bit...the way you demonstrate how to use the bridle, is very forceful and has nothing " Natural" about it...Soft hands, make soft horses, not bitless bridles...this bridle can still cause pain to a horse, it is just not in the mouth anymore...it is how you use your hands that count...

  • @ThundernWildfire

I admit I could have been more gentle. But really - that did NOT hurt the horse. Have you seen how people use a bit? Getting the bit out of harsh hands is a HUGE step forward that ANYONE can make, without years of training to develop gentle hands. I cannot how you can actually hurt a horse in THIS bitless without taking it off the horse and using it to hit them. I have seen dozens of horses go from bit to Nurtural and every one is instantly happier and more relaxed.

If you pull a little, you get a small turn. If you pull harder, the pressure transfers to the cheek on the other side, so you get a bigger turn. Think of it as Pat Parelli says "as little pressure as possible; as much as necessary." Watch some of the videos of the bridle in action and you will understand. Go to the FAQ page at the nurturalhorse site.

I just played the video and did not hear the words "pull hard enough" but I hope this answers your question.

  • @NurturalHorse It is at about 2.22 she says if you pull hard enough. Just to let you know. I do have one comment though, somewhere she says: it is the same as with a bit but without the pain. If a bit is just normally (at least what I call normal :p) then it isn't supposed to hurt... I do want to train and ride my horse bridleless so it is not that I am against you, more the opposite :)

If you want to try bridleless, check out Rick Gore...the best thing is the rope halter....it isn't just for leading and tying, but is great for bitless riding, Rick shows you how to get started the best and safest way....

  • you are very rough with that horse.

  • @eingallsstella

I made this video in 2006. With what I know now, I would have been gentler.

  • All three of my horses have been bitless since day one! I've made my own bridles, but am really excited about stepping up to yours. Thanks for the video- it helped me decide on yours over the Cook.
