  • All Lifes Very Best All The Time...

  • Superb vid with unseen pics !

    Thanks for sharing...

  • No pretender here! The real Freddie Mercury lives on..

  • He lives in my heart forever!

  • WTF?? I just came here to listen to the best singer ever doing one of the best tunes ever...and there is a fight about God going on....geeze people don't y'all know that Freddie IS god??? LOl sorry I couldn't resist.:)

  • Very appropriate song for this guy. A notorious self obssessed liar! Tried to kid people that he was related to Indian royalty. This pervert should have been shot for murdering this record

  • @Propylnitrite Are you some kind of an asshole?

  • @Propylnitrite stfu

  • @Propylnitrite are you some kind of dumbass? Just askin.

  • You've left me to dream all alone =(

  • happy birthday Mr fahernheit

  • 2:06 Best part <3

  • is this where the meme comes from?

  • @vampirillo14

Definitely not. Firstly: The song was written in the 1950s and back then recorded and popularized by The Platters.

Secondly: (I'm not sure about that): A "pretender" in historiography is a person who claimed to be the rightful heir of a (king's) throne, and I believe there was a (unsuccessful) medieval impostor pretender to the English crown who later "earned" the epitheton "The Great" though he actually never was crowned but captured and executed.

  • His voice is great and this song is great.

  • Freddi is the peron, with have a place in my heart for ever.

  • This song was my Uncle Keith's funeral song, makes me cry every time but an amazing tune

  • This song is simply beautiful.

    I'm 14, but I listen to the Queen :)

    Freddie will never die

  • Piosenka napisana specjalnie dla Jarka.K

  • BYŁ ZBOCZKIEM,AZ UMARŁ NA AIDS ,

    ŁADNIE ŚPIEWAŁ

  • i like him better without the mustache ^^ but GOD he was sexy ^^

  • that is the most amazing cover that i've ever known

  • This guy is absolutely the most amazing voice that ever existed...wish I could have known him personally. Wow! I love, love, love it!

  • he really was the ultimate great pretender. All the outfits, pretending to be straight, pretending to not have aids, pretending to be all those different charecters in all his music videos- he was amazing.

  • "Just laughing and gay, like a clown." I couldn't help but laugh.

  • great version of a great song check out melancoly blues easily the best by freddie

  • Freddie isn't dead he just went home. Made In Heaven right?

  • This song is so sad... I think we can all relate to this. Who hasn't been 'a great pretender' in life? Pretended to be someone else, fear of being judged by others...All I can say is: be yourself and just don't care what anyone else might be thinking of you :) Thank you Freddie, for teaching us this very valuable lesson :)

  • simple the best freddieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Beautiful man, beautiful music, happy 65th birthday

  • shit! Freddiee love! Fredd never die ... what you did with the music will not leave you after all

  • mierdaaaa!!!! amo a Freddiee!!! jamàs morirèis Fredd... lo que hiciste con la mùsica no te dejarà partir del todo

  • Happy 65th Birthday to the best male vocalist of all time!! Freddie will live forever through his music>>>>>

  • Happy Birthday Freddie

  • Queen= the best band of ALL time

Tranqvillia= the new hope for music

  • (God doesnt like homos nor do I and they are everywhere like the damn plague.) This comment of "TheCauseofWetPantiez" just shows his ignorance and bigotry. People like him is often the source and reason of all the violence and hate in this world! Avoid people like him because they are a vexation to the spirit and is the plague of this world just like Hitler was!!

  • @888jgarcia Who the hell are you, certainly not God, its ignorant people like you that bash people. grow up you asshole. and your a dumb mexican. if you feel this way.

  • @mydannyboy1000 Did i ever tell you i Iike curb stomping mexicans?

  • @888jgarcia No sir, YOU are the ignorant one here. God can fuck off, you have no proof for his existance. Religion is the root to all evil. All you say reflect back to you, i will gladly avoid brainwashed morons like you.

  • @TheCauzeOfWetPantiez and stop talking trash to people who are correcting you. and for god sakes, "cause" and "panties" are spelled with the letter "s" and not letter "z". now you have 3 things to do: 1.learn grammar. 2. complain about gays to your mom and see if she still listens. 3. go fuck your girlfriend named "right hand".

  • @TheCauzeOfWetPantiez dude he was openly bisexual. NO, BEING GAY WON'T CHANGE A THING ABOUT HIS TALENT. Only guys like you, who cannot bear the fact that you like someone who was bisexual would think it would change a thing. again, HIS SEXUAL ORIENTATION DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT THAT HE IS A GREAT SINGER. oh and btw, thanks for your comment on my page, makes you look like a loser who wasn't able to finish junior high and spends his time on his mother's basement at the age of 38.

  • I really wish everyone commenting would shut the fuck up. Why is Freddie's sexuality so important? Stop bitching and just listen to one of the greatest male vocalists of all time!!

  • @TheCauzeOfWetPantiez He was Bisexual SO WHAT? If he was gay, i don't care either. the point is, he was a great human being, a great performer and probably the greatest male singer to date. Him being gay doesn't change that.. If you were a fan, you would know that..

  • @kashmir1225 NO HES NOT GAY YOU LIAR AND DIRTY CUNT

He pretended to be because his agent at the time felt it would sell more music

Back then Elton John and David Bowie were walking around sucking every filthy cock that ran its tip across their lips and people thought it was cool because at the time back then the world wasnt over run with these demented queers.

it was kind of a novelty just an image he created to make more money

And being a faggot for real would change everything...fag.

  • I prefer The Platter's one.

  • @TheCauzeOfWetPantiez what a fag...

  • @FinalAeonBoss NO Freddie Mercury was NOT GAY YOU ANAL JIZZ DRINKER

  • @TheCauzeOfWetPantiez say that to my face you coward sittin behind a computer. Freddie was gay by the way you ignorant

  • @TheCauzeOfWetPantiez

So...you're a fan of Freddie, which is both understandable and just plain logical, but you hate gays? Alright, at least now I know why you were picking on my Mika. As far as I'm aware, Freddie was bisexual, and Mika is too, so there's no point in you bullying him, no matter how big a homophobe you are. There's nothing I hate more than a homophobe anyway, other than a racist, because BOTH give hate to people for things they have no control over, which is kind of pathetic.

  • Great song. I love Freddy Mercury. He really had a great voice.

  • fantastic... always will be...

  • Freddy was one of a kind. Queen was absolutely a band to contend with. They had a style all their own and no one even to this day would go the distance Freddy would for their audience. He was no pretender. He was a true gem. Brittain should be proud! I will forever be a fan! R.I.P. Mr. Mercury. Thank you for posting this Kittynasc! 17 people are pretendeders!!!!!

  • Freddy was one of a kind. Queen was absolutely a band to contend with. They had a style all their own and no one even to this day would go the distance Freddy would for their audience. • best brittish band in the world

  • great!!!

  • i too am a platters fan and yes Freddie sings this song much better!!!! and they would be very proud of his rendition, Fantastic guy wish he was still around

  • Freddy was a genius....R.I.P

  • This guy was larger than life. Not only did he have an outstanding voice, he also has to be the best showman that rock ever had.

    He is sorely missed.

  • The best singer of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Classe, stile e genio, Freddie rimarrai sempre la pù grande rockstar della storia Ti Amo.

  • i beg forgiveness to all the The Platters fans but this is when the adage "don't fix it if it ain't broke" can be said wrong.. you can fix it even though it's not broken.. :)

  • one of gods children who was gone to soon

  • one word for freddy "auwsome"

  • In a world full of vapidity, Freddie had talent.

In a world full of imitations, Freddie was an original.

In a world full of compromise, Freddie never did.

  • @mcc24601 Actually in the times when Freddie and Queen were performing the world was great and full of talent. Now though..... vapid, talentless, as for compromises... lol, well they sure don't compromise on computer hardware to fix the voices of these shitty "singers" nowadays.

  • @Vitruviux Well, I was comparing Freddie and his contemporaries to today's "artists". I should have phrased it better though.

  • THE BEST IN THE UNIVERSE.

  • he is the greatest of rock opera ... it was too early he left...uncomparable..

  • I like the original more, but this one isn't bad, either.

  • He lived with what life had to offer in his time.. Im sure Freddie would have thought more for the long haul causalities..But he lived in days of ultimate freedom and individuality and paid the ultimate price.. for being in denial of his own mortality.. Messenger of gods or not.. one has to have sence of responsibility of one's life..

  • If I had the voice, Id be the same.. I seem to share same personality type.. but I'd be upgraded version with wider range of view about life.. more self-aware of twists of fate..

  • this song was made for my husband!!

  • Great song and i am not pretending this time.

  • it's amazing he turned an elegant, soulful love song into a FM-style brazenly overblown (skillfully) playful ode to the FM persona: obsession, loneliness, passion, performer-audience dynamics all absent, not too apparent or murky in original. why? to show his critics he's no fool & knows perfectly well what he's doing? a man who can do "tasteful" songs in 70s can only possibly pursue "questionable taste" to find his artistic "niche", not b/c he's "camp/crass, just a showman"??

  • He really did a great job with this song. I feel he added a nice upbeat modern feel to it but kept the soulful things about the original and it went really well with his voice.

  • amazing, i hear phrasing similar to opera canzone to enka. what a great man

  • the best showman in the world ,

  • Dad: You like Queen right?

    Me: Yes

Dad: you should listen to Freddie Mercurry's solo stuff, it will amaze you what is sounds like

    He wasn't wrong.

  • ...insuperabile interpretazione...

  • I like to pretend you're still around Freddie ... :)

  • am auzit melodia in magazine restaurante etc. cum naibii so chema. pur si simplu nu gaseam. am doar 17 ani dar apreciez mai mult acest gen ed muzica decat cel din zilele noastre. super video

  • FREDDIE MERCURY :LOS OJOS MAS DULCES QUE HE VISTO

  • Great song, great singer

  • una leggenda... ;)

  • OMG his baby pictures are sooooo cute!!!

  • how old is freddie mercury this year?

  • @josquine In 2011 ? 65 years old

  • The sad part of all this is that we can't get over a persons private choices. I enjoyed Freddie's music, I enjoyed his awesome voice, and his charisma. What saddens me the most is that he is gone and people wanting to pick at his personal life. If we all looked in the mirror and were honest with ourselves, we would have a lot to hide. It sadeens my blackened and hard soul to hear folks speak ill of someone over personal choices. Last time I checked, he broke no laws..

  • Although he delivered most songs in the tenor range, his voice ranged from a pure crystalline coloratura soprano to a bass, nearly 4 full octaves! Montserrat Caballe, the opera singer, said "the difference between Freddie and almost all the other rock stars was that he was selling the voice". In The Great Pretender, about half-way, he throws his voice to the rafters and then hits a "woo-hoo" that nearly will stop your heart!

  • @TennGardener Try 5 + octaves with full control... Amazing voice.

  • the best one.

  • great voice ... great band !

spent my youth with them ..

2 bad today's "artists" are running only for the money ...

  • For me only the original Tony Williams of Platters fame was the only tenor I loved singing this song and then donkey years later I heard Freddy sing this and it blew my mind. So these are the only two tenors I like to hear singing this. :)

  • @yobtube2000 I hope that Freddie lives on heaven and his sings in our hearts)))

  • @traptalker

    Hello troll, goodbye troll.

  • When I hear this song I think on such a moment where youre very mad and then sombody comes asking: "somthing wrong." And then you want to cry but you say:

"no nothing." and then they are like oke and walk away.

Thumps up if you regonize this moment.

  • Freddie Sang this becoz he is a different man off stage

this song really means something to me because i have a similar story :((

its always good to know youre not the only one

  • nice work 5 stars

  • my god how can you do better he IS a god of vocalism and such love

  • What a legend :)

    Love You Freddie <3

  • Best singer i have ever known! :)

  • RIP Freddie Mercury

  • awe I was born with mercury

  • Can't compare to The Platters version at all.

  • @Zeetana1 It is a great cover , and that's all it needs to be ^^

  • Freddie=Genius

  • When I saw "Freddy Mercury" in the name of the song I really thought it was going to be......well........Not THIS beautiful. He`s amazing

  • Comment removed

  • Happy Birthday Freddie!! Thanks for this video!

  • Happy Birthday Freddie, the legend! <3

    R.I.P.

  • Queen, for me the best band of all times

  • Why did you have to die Freddy? WHY?

  • @Patriceorange why??? Because he had a disease

lets learn from it and be safe

  • @jreese66

It was a rethorical question. I know he died from a disease, smartass.

  • @Patriceorange lol..sure.

  • @jreese66

    FUCK OFF.

  • @Patriceorange chill out.its just the internet.

  • i'm such a freddie mercury fan...

    i'm PRETENDING he's still around...

  • Queen have been one of my favorite groups since i first heard them in the late 1970s! but to those complaining about somone beeing in love with freddy mercury! the word love can have many meanings after which context its in! hehe

I love the music but i have never met any one from queen! haha!

  • try as they might the singers of today will never have the presence and personality of the legend that is Freddy Mercury (PERIOD)

  • One of the greatest songs of all time, fantastic arrangement, great singing by Freddie. I still like music by Queen, but I recently bought a DVD of Queen, live, and watching Freddie simulate masturbation, on stage, in front of several tens of thousands of people, made me want to puke. I don't care that he was gay, that's his business, but I object to an exceedingly vulgar demonstration of his egomania.

  • He was a very nice looking man and had great talent.. May he always rest in peace... Gone but never forgotten....

  • michael jackson and freddie mercury are the best singers of the world

  • !!,.R.I.P. freddie!! mercury!!!

  • freddie, love, you died to soon. had you been able to hang on just a bit more you might still be with us. what a loss. i loved you then, i love you now. you are a beautiful person and i'm grateful you are a performer who left us so many videos, photos, and recordings to continue to enjoy. thanks to whoever posted this too.

  • freddie mercury is for real...

    the platters??? pretenders...

  • The world lost a genius the day this man died.

  • gay like a clown

  • Freddie Mercury/ Queen = Epicness

  • With All respect---He was Not Persian His Parents was iranian Azeri

  • @dishybloke1974

What do mean by he was not persian. He was of parsi decent form India. His ancestry of western states of India called Gujarat. Persian came to Gujarat about 1500 years ago to escape religious percecution by muslims and they settled in Gujarat and they prospered in Business.

  • Freddie Mercury was born in Zanzibar and his parents were both Persian. Parsi was their religion. His biography is on you tube in part 1 through part 12 and is very very interesting. Of course, I love Freddie as the best ever and like to know everything about such a great man and talent. He was a very nice and kind man. Although he died almost 20 years ago, I am still sad over his passing. Always will be, thank you for the music.

  • and i m born on 5th.september hehe and i was listening to him from my 4th year..

  • @jojajoca You must feel privileged to share a birthday with the greatest singer of all time. :)

  • .38 special queen and journey are my fav top three bands rip freddie

  • A voice that could melt gold... gone too soon..........one of the ultimate performers........he is missed.......

  • He had heart of gold.

  • question, need to understand - what is freddie's racial ancestry?

  • @iota1962 I just found out about a week ago: Freddie Mercury [born Farrokh Bulsara (!!)] was a Parsi born in Zanzibar and who grew up there and in India until his mid-teens | info @ wikipedia. Cheers!

  • @jesscscott thanks so much

  • Freddy is an Absolute pleasure to listen to. He IS amongst the ELITE, the likes of Michael Jackson Elves Presley etc.. All in heaven where they belong RIP to another King

  • no one can have a voice like FM!!

  • The Unbeatable and Eternal Winner of the Celestial and Mundane Singing Contest that no one dare to question ever.

  • GIFTED.

  • Love you Freddie.....XXXX

  • what talent... i wish i'd been around to see him perform live.

  • It's a shame if he was still alive he would wipe the floor with Lady Gaga,Lily Allen,Katy Perry and Beyonce and Cheryl Cole some of the singers today can't sing good fair enough they can sing but not like Freddie Mercury. I really wish he was still alive so I would be able to go and see him live in concert I'd pay good money to see him live really I would (even though my family haven't got much money) "Oh yes I am the Great Pretender"

  • @TylerLav118118 Great people don't live too long.. Freddie was one of the greatest man who ever lived.

  • @TylerLav118118 Amen to that!

  • @TylerLav118118 lol why have you only named female singers you sexist?

what about those horrendous male "singers" out there like Justin fucking Bieber or the Jonas brothers to name a few!

  • @mydesigirl84 Why do people like you always have to try and make a political point. I don't think he was trying to pick only women, I think he was trying to pick artists who are WAY over rated. I agree that justin bieber & the jonas bros make terrible music, but their voice isn't the problem. Bob Dylan never sang well, but he made great music.

  • @TylerLav118118

No he wouldn't. He'd be 60 and he'd be like David Bowie. Is David Bowie wiping the floor with those artists even while still kicking ass? Don't fantasize reality. Realize reality.

  • @FavreianVengeance David Bowie is nothing compared to the vocal range of Freddie Mercury. Mercury had 10 times the talent of Bowie in 91 when he was dieing. Yes he would be kicking those singer's asses, but they would still be around. Because different strokes for different folks. Freddie as good as he was was not loved by all the world. He may have been better, but he still had his critics. Those tools love Lady Gaga.

Freddie, the real King of Rock 'n' Roll.

  • @fastaslightning1

Really? You're going to try and dumb this argument down to singing range? By that logic, Andy Bell (Erasure) has them both beat. Nobody sings like Bowie. NOBODY. Whiny singers like Freddie Mercury are a dime a dozen. I know that's hard for you to realize b/c I'm sure you're well invested in many original Queen songs that you like. But there's a little piece of reality for you.

  • @fastaslightning1

You're really going to try and dumb this down to range? If you do that then Andy Bell (Erasure) kicks Freddy Mercury's ass. And undoubtedly there's scores of untold opera singers that are better on that basis. Bowie commands attention. He beats FM's whiny stylings any day of the week. There is no singer like Bowie. FMs are a dime a dozen. I'm sure that's hard for you to take b/c undoubtedly you're nostalgic about your Queen songs. But I'm just giving you a shot of reality bud

  • @FavreianVengeance I'm not your "bud". David Bowie was talented, no doubt, but honestly he simply did not compare to the power of FM. But then again, if you like Bowie's music you may not like Queen's. I don't give a shit, but in my opinion (and that is the only one that matters to me) Freddie soundly trounces David Bowie, both in composition and ability. His songs are epics, but if you see them as whiny then it is unlikely that I will change your mind, nor you mine. Bowie sucks, Freddie FTW

  • @fastaslightning1

Spoken like a true Queen fantatic bud. I'm not even a huge Bowie fan. I just call things for how they are. FM doesn't hold a candle to Bowie. That's just how it is. And really Queen fans are just teenagers from the 70s that are still hanging on. I've see you time and time again. They are not nearly as timeless as you think they are. In fact most of their songs are pretty ho hum. Yea Bohemian Rhapsody is epic (but then again its annoying). And in Pressure DB comes out on top.

  • @FavreianVengeance I gotta get in on this coz you clearly don't know what you are talking about. Freddie Mercury beats everyone's ass when it comes to vocals, he's mastered ALL genres. Pop, Rock, Ballads, Soul, Dance, and even Opera. Now, how many musicians do you know of that can pull that off successfully?!? AND Queen aint timeless!!! Errr...yea ok!! Queen are musical royalty, and they've broke records that no-one has even come close to breaking. I cant help thinking we got an homophobe here..

  • @TheRedfoot86

Please. Don't give me this genre crap. Singing is pretty much singing. So I think you mean range. And I think FM has decent range and a decent voice.

And go fuck yourself with that homophobe shit. I didn't say a damn thing about him being gay YOU FUCKING CUNT.

  • @TheRedfoot86

And to my point. FM is decent. He's not the undisputed greatest singer of all-time that you Queen bitch fans pretend he is. He just aint. Quite frankly, his voice can be a bit whiny.

  • @FavreianVengeance no tienes ni puta idea. you´ve got no idea.

  • @FavreianVengeance All I have to say is Live Aid. If Bowie were so great, why didn't he get the title of 20 minutes that changed the world? Queen did. They stole the show. All we hear is radio gaga, radio gogo, radio gaga. That's not one of their best known hits, and still FM had 72000 people SCREAMING it.

Head to head with Bowie, and Freddie Mercury whoops him. No other comparisons need made.

  • @fastaslightning1

Not that I really care about Live Aid as it was just a shadow of Woodstock, but I believe that the Police handed the honorary band of the 80s key to U2 in that show. Yea it wasn't Queen though lol. Good try though.
