No it is not a pictus catfish. The smaller catfish is West African Synodontis multipunctatus. The bigger catfish is Upside Down Catfish (Synodontis nigriventris).

Yah. It is dolomite sand. I have 2 Rena XP3 filters. The tank is about 8 ft long and is a 108 GAL tank.

Yes they are tropical fish. If you have enough knowledge, it will be actually quite easy to keep.
