And just because some did not stop to enjoy the performance does not prove a lack of appreciation. Quite possibly they had business elsewhere and were prevented from stopping. Don't judge a book by its cover.
@Krystinell - You are right, degrees and education are not the same. That's the beauty of America...one can get an education AND experience while many Europeans simply have degrees with no practical experience. Again - I say from experience living in Europe in a University town (but having lived most of my life until now in America where I had great jobs and NO degree - but tons of education).....
And now I'd like to say that this is truly amazing. These performers are incredible!!! Every one of these "Random Acts of Culture" I have watched has been utterly incredible. I so wish I could be there to witness one of these in person!
@Krystinell - I have watched a number of these flash performances and from what I see most people stop and enjoy them. I live in Europe and am not at all sure it would be "more appreciated" as I also do not believe education has anything to do with one's appreciation of culture. Everyone I know has, at least, a respect for those who can sing and perform like this, although it may not be the style they listen to regularly. Most Americans are not uncultured barbarians.(I am a music teacher btw)
Most people don't even stop to watch the (free) performance. I think this kind of actions would be much more appreciated in Europe, where people are a lot more educated.
Really, you had to say that? My husband and I have graduate degrees? What about you? Save those comments when you see something like gang related videos in America. P.S don't visit, we don't want your European money. :o)
@Leapdaymama04 I don't care about you or your husband's degrees. I'm talking about MOST PEOPLE, which is what can be seen in this video! And a lot of other videos of this kind. And by the way, degrees and EDUCATION are not the same thing. And by the way again, don't try to prove the rule using the exception.
Opera is so cool.!

The acoustics are horrible in this atrium.

@krystinell I think that's the point: trying to get Americans to stop and listen. And maybe go to an opera once in a while. :-)

@Krystinell what, why would you even make that suggestion. What are the statistics that say Europeans are more educated than Americans.
