it's because they have feelings for each other although sam was always the one who's being heartbroken one too many.. but he still love sookie and loyal in his love for her.. i think tara is just a way for him to mend his sadness; and sam is a way for tara to get away from her problematic mother. but sometimes im a bit sad to see how sookie doesn't acknowledge sam's feeling for her. i think bill is just too annoying and there's some insanity in the vamps that they can't control..
