OVERPOPULATION DOES NOT EXIST. WHAT EXIST IS THE RESOURCES OF THE WORLD IN THE HANDS OF A FEW.
WITH MODERN DAY TECHNOLOGY SUCH AS SKYSCRAPERS, VERTICAL FARMS, 3D PRINTING, THORIUM REACTORS, AUTOMATION AKA (TECHNOLOGICAL UNEMPLOYMENT) THERE IS NO REASON WHY THE PLANET EARTH COULD NOT SUSTAIN OUR CURRENT POPULATION (7 BILLION) OR MORE.
THE MASSES ARE UNEDUCATED. IT IS A FACT THAT MORE EDUCATED COUPLES HAVE LESS CHILDREN (2.1 OR AROUND 2 CHILDREN) IN THERE LIFETIMES.
@riverlioness Yep, because if they didn't they wouldn't get any grant money. And if they went a step further and produced a substantial study that that conflicted with the status quo they would lose their job.
he's right the overpopulation thing is a concept for the chattering middle classes to distract them from more pertinent issues it panders to the brains need to feel as if its discussing something important and harmlessly satisfies that appetite for social discussion. The miltary industry complex and thats what it is , an industry is big business . Lennons brilliant here But i would go further and say that the population myth isnt so much distraction but justification for war..subliminally
WOW..I woulda guessed the myth would have been in line with his socialist leanings. Anyways, the moment we are overpopulated is the moment people will die no matter what. The population will balance out before the earth dies. we need the earth not the other way around.
Seems like Lennon and Yoko truly lost a good chance to really change the world, they both know overpopulation is real and surely knew that at that time as well.
He's completely right, a natural balance will occur, when we have too many people on the planet, disease and hunger will make sure to reset that balance...it's not about whether overpopulation is a myth or not, it's whether we let nature balance it out, or we step in and try avoid children dying of disease and hunger...I wonder how many children have died needlessly since I started typing this comment...
@DJMatus23 You forget one important aspect. Once the overwhelming mass of poor and hungry, who have nothing to loose, realize their power, due to instant wolrwide communication, they will most probably rise up against the well-fed, like people who have little to loose today , rise up against long-term dictators.
He plays music REALLY well, asking him his opinion on SCIENCE is pointless. John where do you stand on string theory, eukaryotic evolution in relation to mitochondria, the out of Africa hypothesis, or global warming. .. Sure Yoko has something stupid to say on those subjects as well - backed by John and his government conspiracy theories...
This is the first thing I can remember myself and Mr. Lennon agreeing on, and he deserves credit for seeing through the myth at its height. It plays into the sort of paternalistic elitism he opposed.
That was back in the 70's. There are 7 billion people on this planet now and most of them have not enough food and clean water. We are going to run out of oil and other valuable resources soon. Fish has become expensive and the forests are burnt down to create more fields. It will not do to blame the ruling elites for all the calamities of this planet. If 7 billion are not enough, then how many are?
Do people understand most of the overpopulation propaganda originates out eugenics societies that often promote excessively small human population numbers for their own selfish/elitist reasons?
Hahaha.. I love Mr. Lennon's, "Oh, I don't care" at the end!
You don't believe in conspiracies... I see some reference in this thread of 'thought'... Theory is the nebulous factor... when a proven fact a conspiracy is what it is, a person conspiring with another or others. By as for as the people who ridicule those seeking the truth... Oh' I don't care... LOL!
We must send 5 billion people with guns and knifes to the sahara desert, make them kill eatchother. Those who survive are lucky, then start over again untill the population grows to +-7 billion people, then do it again.
He's right, to a point. The world population will reach some level of equilibrium. It will, of course, take a massive amount of starvation, suffering, and death for it to happen. It will also take a complete paradigm shift in human behavior, requiring individuals to be less selfish and more caring, requiring families to show more restraint in procreation, but those things won't change until the bodies are stacked like cordwood and affluent nations suffer like third-world countries.
@Russebby You're absolutely right!!!!....It will balance out...with disasters.....the U.S. don't have very much oil left, and the more the population, the more consumption of ressourses......it's so simple a concept , that it baffles me that peolple think differently......and I don't mean ,lets solve it by killing others.....smaller families is the answer.....and less consumption ,less waste......
This happens when somebody who sings and compose music really well thinks he has the answer for everything. We make them think they are gods and they are so dumbs that believe it. A pitty!
what an idot i have proof overpopulation is a myth and one more thing global warming is a false ideoligy created by the new world order to kill 90 precent of us
global warming and over popualation myths are designed by governments as a way to preoccupy the gullable I compleatly agree. Oh and since when does an interviewer say what he thinks? He is supposed to let the interviewee speak, "I dont care" lol! no american interviewee would say that!
The greatest human fault is not understand exponential growth. Albert Einstein called it the 8th wonder of the world. Apparently she only thought food would be the problem, not lumber, coal, oil... the other things we use couldn't have run out. Maybe he thought we would be harvesting moon rock by now.
Overpopulation can only be tackled by big government. The less a government is committed to social spending the more of a threat overpopulation is. Accomodating disproportionate population growth requires higher tax and a greater commitment to the redistribution of wealth. This hurts the poor as much as the rich. When tax revenue is diminishing we should discourage the poor from having children. People should stop thinking they have some kind of right to big families when they don't have money.
@KaptKan1 "My kind" is human shithead and the evidence of our raping nature is all around us. You too are guilty for you have the resources to read this message.
@EliteDoomer Since I don't buy into your bullshit, prove your sincerity by stopping "raping nature" by using the resources to read this message, shithead. Why don't you remove your "carbon footprint" from this earth? Your kind is INhuman and hypocritical; you find it permissible to do what you condemn in others. Have a miserable new year and get off the planet before the next one; that will contribute to saving the earth.
Ok, simple question - Can you think of anything that will get better with a high population than we have now? Anything? Any area where quality of life will improve?
It just one of those situations where arguing doesn't lead anywhere....
Better to just agree to disagree, and perhaps later when things gets more out of hand, somebody needs to rise up in the madness and confront the evidence.
Its not a matter of believe, moronic John Lennon, it's a matter of facts and numbers.
We dont "believe" that there are approximatively 6 billions ppl on earth nowadays, its a fact.
Poor empty head singer singing "all you need is love" and blablabla and getting killed and not seeing from his own eyes what the world is now about to become.
@Notasheep187 wtf are u rambling about?? i was agreeing with u, fool.
You said Lennon was an "idiot" and Yoko a "chinahoe", read back.
Also i've got a job and family and friends, i don't see what u're talking about when saying "incapable of social contact", are u alright?
Actually some friends of mine dislike john Lennon as much as me, so they share my views... u should learn to open ur mind to others views, isn't it what lennon taught u? being "'open-minded"? lol.
@Notasheep187 Cos my "friends" already know my youtube channel, moron. Whats the matter with you? Why do you act like you know so bad about my life when you obviously dont? What comment did i post on youtube that made you so resentful? Lol. You sound very angry for no reason, especially with a guy who was agreeing with you at first. Quite ironic. Youre obviously the one having social contact problems here... imma let you ramble on your own cos its a waste of time answering you. Bye psycho!
@Notasheep187 you have 7000 channels viewed man, i hope you realise what it means LOL. Ive been on this account for a year now and barely watched 500 channels. You've created this account two months ago, and already watched 7000 channels LOL. Is someone bringing you food and drink to your room so you can stay in there without going out and keeping the views rate to the max ? LOL. Just kidding. Keep it up, you need to reach 10 000 channels viewed by the end of the month bro.
@MrJeanSarkozy The FACT is that the earth could easily support many times the population we have now; THAT is why we are not "overpopulated". Of course, that requires a minimal ability to think analytically as opposed to just allowing yourself to be stampeded by every myth the mainstream media promotes. There are too many of YOUR kind, but not of mankind. We are only "overpopulated" with idiots like you.
@Notasheep187 but he was a satanist fag using "'love" a drug and selling/spending it through songs, so what can you expect from a fag. He was not a god, just a singer a bit fag and clueless.
Population is growing at an exponential rate. What does "exponential" means? Search for "Poulation-since-10000BC.jpg" on Google and see what it means. You think it will decline? Well, it never happened significantly in the last 10000 years of history, so I doubt that we can say it's certain.
Statists search for the Final Solution the Overpopulation Problem. Although, without their incessant violations no problem would exist. I never liked John Lennon's music, but I guess he was right about a good number of other things.
before the ice age, we were far more ahead, technicly and in every other way.. one world language. the whole globe was tropical. sometime after we started neglected universal/natural laws, became ignorant and dum.. up untill today maybe?
The whole global warmite/overpopulaton scam is run by governments and other sociopathic types who want an excuse to slaughter vast numbers of human beings. Stalin and Hitler loved such types.
I think we must realise that there is no "overpopulation problem" but there are immense problems of imperialism, war, police statism, and financial madness. We should not waste time chasing the bogeymen of "global warming" and "overpopulation" while Nato and the IMF and the NWO and their military/industrial/police state complex run amok.
Of course, those same entities want us to be distracted by those diversions for obvious reasons.
@KaptKan1 Just because an entity wants us to be distratced by something else doesn't mean that that something else isn't real. Global warming has been proven and overpopulation is observable as broad daylight. The thing that is really controlling everybody is religion. Religion is used to make poor peole satisifed with nothing because they think they will be rewarded in an afterlife and for the rich to gain even more.
@MasterAdam100 Your entirely mistaken attitude toward religious belief is highly ironic coming, as it does, from a global warmite dogmatist. Global warming has only been "proven" to be a myth promoted by mass polluting corporations who wish to grab up most of the world's energy supplies while you and I freeze in the dark and pay their politician toadies taxes to "save the planet".
You're being played for a sucker, and it's workng so far, sad to say.
@KaptKan1 Oh my. I'm starting to sound like you conspiracry nuts. Granted religion is used to control people but if I get down to your level then how am I any better? Thank you sir. Individuals and groups of people can lie just as good as government entities. You have taught me to also be skeptical of crazy conspiracy groups along with a healthy skepticism of government authorites. My views on overpopulation remain the same but arguing with you has made me realize that this is futile. Good day.
@MasterAdam100 If you got to my level it would be a considerable elevation from the bottom of the atheist pit in which you reside. And you have clearly shown who is the "overpopulation" conspiracy nut. Trying to teach you anything is what is futile since you suppose yourself to be so much smarter than you are. I agree that it's a waste of MY time to deal with you since, "Only a fool tries to educate an idiot."
@jeffthecoder Canada alone currently has the capacity to feed double the present population of the entire earth. If you put the entire population into Texas, there would be enough room for every single human to have several acres.
This planet is NOT overpopulated, no matter how much paranoia is used to gull us into hysteria -- and more taxes to "save the planet" -- by the ruling elite of the NWO/banksters/military/industrial/financial complex/Trilaterals and assorted imperialists.
@KaptKan1 I can certainly agree that there would be no need for depop if everyone better managed their lives and consumption practices..but how did you come to the conclusion that a population of 7 billion would have many acres of land within Texas (about 171 million acres total)? Maybe you meant the entire USA population (not the global population?)
@jeffthecoder Yup. My bad; it was the population of the USA. I'm getting old and forgetful... Anyway, the point is that there's not this shoulder-to-shoulder traffic jam of humanity that the alarmists would have us believe.
And the problem isn't "everyone's consumption practices" but the mega-corporations that increasingly monopolise the world's resources while pushing the over-population myth to the detriment of mankind. The enemy is mercantilism, not mankind.
@KaptKan1 you are 100% right on, its sad how so many "activists" will speak out about issues falsely created by the people they think they are fighting.
@jeffthecoder its actually true, mathematically speaking. It wouldn't be a nice place to live and its not realistic, but it does kind of prove a point that space is not even remotely an issue. A lot of the 3rd world has food/water issues due to them being raped by the IMF. The irony is that if they were more industrialized their population would go down and they would reduce their food/water issues by a giant percentage.
@KaptKan1 That smacks of conspiracy nonsense. You can claim the world is not overpopulated at almost any population level even if we were wall to wall brains in tanks.
The real question is:
Is the world too populated for everyone to have a dignified std of living.
I would estimate that std to be something like a working class person in Poland. The Answer with current technology is unfortunately: YES
Even with 60% of the world living in misery we are over-consuming many finite materials
@CmdrTobs The "conspiracy nonsense" is all from the "overpopulation" Cassandras. Your "estimate" is based on nonsense about "current technology" and alleged over consumption of finite materials. You ignore the role of the wars in reducing conquered peoples' standards of living, exhausting the wealth of those force to subsidise the madness, and the oil (and other) industry's blocking of alternate energy source development. We don't have too many people; we have too many gullible idiots.
@KaptKan1 You have it backwards, the wars actually 'help' by reducing many peoples wealth and thus productivity to the point we actually have dupes like you in the first world think any of this is sustainable.
Do you think you could have all you can eat meat, be 10% of the worlds population and consume 70% of resources if it wasn't for the wars and imperialism traditional, cooperate or militaristic that make sure most of the world can't attempt to do the same.
>> We don't have too many people; we have too many gullible idiots.
Looking at overcrowded beaches, overfished seas, mega-slums, polluted water and destroyed forests, I disagree with the first. But I agree with the second. When it comes to population, we need more quality and less quantity. We must not overlook the fact, that the most fertile land is already taken.
A billion idiots will destroy a whole continent. 1,000 educated people can make a desert into a paradise.
@flamifer1 What a crock of shit.Look at the 'educated people' that run this world. They have turned the world into a living hell for most, why do you think there is over fishing? Mega slums? Polluted water and clear cut forests? Those 'educated' assholes that continue to put the value of money over humanity = these problems. Get your head out of your ass.
When I said "educated" I was referring to people with technical skills and knowledge. And you are absolutely right. A society can not work properly without social skills (or morale values if you prefer) But I am not an expert in psychology, therefore I can not say what needed to be done to educate people in that respect.
But the topic of this blog is the question how many people can live sustainably on this planet and if and why we should go to the maximum.
@blite13 Dear friend,........well said. When people can truly grasp the fact that money is valued more than life itself, today & throughout history, then they can begin to make a change for the better. The song "Imagine" by J. Lennon, really is a song with so much meaning & yet people totally miss the point of what it is that he tried to convey to ALL people. Peace be with you.
Governments must always invent crises in order to keep the population afraid, and willing to give up their liberty in exchange for "security." Over population, global warming, global cooling, terrorists, foreigners, etc. The greatest threat to humanity is the increasing centralisation of government.
Humanity is heading for extinction. Our birth replacement rate is under 2 in the developed world. The world's fertility rate is plummeting. Sperms counts are plummeting. Males of all species are becoming more feminine. Humanity will go extinct if this continues.
Is this what you greens want? You want everyone either sterile or dead?
@JesseKantstopolis Oh look! He is informed. And you are quite right, forecasts say that population will continue to rise for about 30 years, we will reach about 8-9 billion and after that we will decline, rapidly. This is based on fertility rates today, not accounting if fertility rates drops even further, or increases ofcourse.
It is already established that the birth rate of a population is inversely proportional to its prosperity. Compare birth rates of countries around the world and you will see this trend very clearly. What's more, many countries in the west have average birth rate per family below the 2.3 figure necessary to simply sustain their populations. And so the solution is for governments and central banks to stop intervening and let countries develop and become prosperous.
John Lennon is a myth himself. Funny how a multi-millionaire myth like Lennon becomes so aggressively hostile towards another 'myth' like overpopulation.
i think the official estimate at that time was somewhere between 4.5 to 5 billion people. right now i think the official number is around 6.8 billion.
@AspiringPotato that's the trillion dollar question. i'm not going to pretend like i know the answer to that, but based on the arguments i've seen from both sides, i feel pretty confident that the earth and it's resources could sustain 5x or more the amount of people we have right now. i don't necessarily think that would be ideal though. supposedly every family on the earth right now could have an acre to themselves on a land mass the size of australia...that leaves a lot of space left over
Uh, no, not even close. You have to account for things like infrastructure, food, water, etc. Not to mention the many social and political effects overpopulations would have. Or the effects on disease control. It's not just a question of how many rectangles can you fit in these borders.
You don't want to push the brink like that. One bad harvest and a hundred million die.
well, obviously we wouldn't be able to continue doing everything as it is done now. the question you posed is not simple enough to be answered in the space i have here. i also didn't claim to know the answer, whereas you are now claiming to know...and you don't. if you did then you wouldn't be wasting your time on youtube. there are plenty of phd's out there that think the planet could easily sustain 50 billion people. do you have proof that it can't?
I've never heard a convincing argument for 50 bn ppl. Just, use your own "does this number seem reasonable" skills. Do you honestly think 50 bn ppl on Earth is realistic extrapolating from today's society? C'mon, really?
10 kW constant power for 100 years(somewhere between western European to USA living standard) can be supplied from the uranium and thorium in a mere 10 cubic meters of average crust(any junk, not ore!).
The most efficient algae and cyanobacteria can feed a person on ~10 square meters of equatorial land.
I believe sustaining a few trillion humans at a poor standard of living is doable and 50 billion at a pretty good standard of living quite easy.
Mass of actinides in 10 m^3 of rock: 3 ppm U + 10 ppm Th * 10 m^3 * 3 tonne/m^3 ~ 0.4 kg actinides.
Energy this represents: 190 MeV * Navogadro*400 g/(238 g/mol) * 1.602*10-19 J/Ev = 30 TJ.
Thermal power when distributed over 100 years: 30 TJ/(100 y*365 d/y* 24h/d * 3600 s/h) ~ 10 kWth.
I can't find an exact heat of fusion and specific heat for average rock, but 30 TJ is enough to fully melt 30 tonnes of granite about 1000 times over; i.e. no EROI issues.
@AspiringPotato We have the materials to achieve 600 degrees C without corrosion problems in a molten salt reactor and we have good candidates for >1000 degrees C. So we know we can at least match supercritical steam turbines(~40% efficient conversion to electricity) at the low end, and at the high with brayton cycle helium turbines we should be able to get to about 50% efficiency. The efficiency we use our ~10 kWth of primary energy right now is much less.
@AspiringPotato Vague allusions to unspecified social unrest, very typical of doomer scoundrels. Social unrest is an omnipresent social function; it behooves you to demonstrate that something which has been so beneficial in the past(and which we need more of to deal with the financial mess and fraud in the financial system) will somehow become a civilization ender.
@AspiringPotato There are natural disasters, but the truly mass starvations have been caused by central planning schemes by arrogant tyrants and their armed bureaucracies. Look at the millions killed off by Stalin, Mao, and Hitler just for their egotistic lust to control people and direct resources by fiat.
Today we see an vast global cartel of central bank/government machinery that is destroying economies and impoverishing people. Get rid of these tyrants and people will recover.
@HarriboFTW Why do you believe this? Most developed countries have the reverse problem. Too few babies are born to replace the old people dying. The less developed countries still have high birth rates due to lack of education, especially for women who are the most oppressed. The areas with the highest pop. density are also the wealthiest, such as Hong Kong and other rapidly-developing Asian cities. Population does not spell disaster. Mass starvation is man-made by tyranny & controls.
@leafwatch Mass starvation is man-made? You make me laugh. Look at the Earth, look at how much the poulation will rise. Did you know that at the start of the 19th century there were about 600 million people on the planet. Today there 6.8 billion, a growth of more than 1000%. In ten years time where will that put our poulation?
@HarriboFTW You laugh in ignorance. Study facts instead of spouting scary memes from politicians and their owned media. Try researching the millions in the Soviet experiment; try more millions killed in the Maoist experiment; try additional millions killed in Hitler's experiment. All were caused by arrogant fools who believed and convinced their populations that centralized government could run economies better than free individuals. Lesser mass starvation occurred in small dictatorships.
@leafwatch What the fuck, did you even read my comment? Your argument makes no sense, overpopulation will happen. This world is simply not large enough.
@HarriboFTW It is you who needs to read instead of relying on old media sound bites. We had the population scare decades ago. Demographics have changed substantially since then, the trend is changing with education. And densely-populated areas show that's not the issue. The real issue is whether governments of the world will continue enormous waste of resources in wars and failed economic policies, or whether people will get back control over land usage, property, economies and prosper.
@leafwatch For every person on the planet to live as a healthy average Euopean there would have to be two billion people on the planet. In 30 or so years there will be 10 billion, not good at atll.
@HarriboFTW We can only dream that every person on the planet will live as a healthy average European has in recent decades. But if you pay attention to international news, the regimes in control of most countries of the world are working day and night to ensure that this never happens; even advanced countries of Europe and the Americas are losing ground. State bureaucracies are incompetent and repressive and kill opportunities for advancement, along with their economies and populations.
@AspiringPotato "One bad harvest and a hundred million die." And that's exactly how the planet will decide for itself. Get it? You'll know when we're overpopulated. As of now, with the amount of food we have, the technology we have, the resources we have, we could have many more billions of people on this planet, and you probably wouldn't notice it at all.
It's not a question of having food or resources, it's a question of how our cities are structured.
Essentially the theory is that a large group of poorly educated people with few material possessions can be duped into assuming the mob mentality relatively easily... and the many crises that would emerge could be exploited. However I am not trying to write a general rule. There are many factors that affect who wields the power.
@AspiringPotato That's up to the planet. Not up to you. Ok? By all means, if you seriously believe that overpopulation is true, do us all a favor, and don't reproduce. We could use less people like you in the world.
It's not just food by the way. There are other resources such as medicine, clean fresh water supply, fuel, space, etc. Would you rather 4 bn ppl live like Americans or 14 bn ppl live like Africans.
Odd how most of the overpopulation denialists (not you specifically) claim that some cabal of evil corporations want people to stop reproducing, even though the hordes of people would be entirely dependent on said corporations producing enough food.
I've got an idea. Don't live in a desert. I know, what a ground breaking idea.
I could care less how many people live whereever. Doesn't effect me any. If they live in a desert, and fuck like rabbits, they're going to have lots of deaths. Just the way it is over there. As soon as they're ready to stop killing each other, they can have a nice place to live, necessary birth rate would drop, and things would smooth out.
@AspiringPotato I wouldn't say it's an evil cabal of corporations. But the attitude of overpopulation is a very elitist attitude. A very spoiled and selfish attitude as well. They're only dependant on corporations because their governments have written laws to support the corps.
Overpopulation denialist? Hahaha, no one's denying anything. You're the one saying there is a problem when there is clearly no problem. We waste thousands of tons of good in the US each year. Yoko has a point.
@AspiringPotato Our modern cities are still built as though they are in the 1920s. They're not. Cities are growing rapidly. So rapidly that city planners failed to keep up. You'll find most overpopulation pushers are usually very selfish, cannot empathize with other people, and only value the world for what it can do for them. They do not value human life, they've allowed their view of humanity to be reduced to something that is a pest, rather than the reason they enjoy the luxuries they do.
I agree that we should try not to waste goods. However waste is inevitable and must be taken into account in calculations. I'm glad that you don't outright deny that at some point the population will exceed the carrying capacity of the environment, as some do, but I must object to your cavalier "things will smooth out after millions die" attitude. I am generally from the school of thought that we should try to prevent events that end in millions of deaths.
@AspiringPotato Waste... inevitable? No, not at all. You only consider it to be this way because fractional reserve banking has created a moral hazard.
Well. I say your prevention, is more of a socialist behavior than anything else. You know better than other people how to live their lives, or how many children they need to work their farms, etc. You know better than them.
The environment would stop any population before it got to that size. Plus the population would stop itself.
@AspiringPotato We are no where close to this carrying capacity. Plus, the carrying capacity is constantly being expanded, which you all never really talk about. Every single day, tech is being made that makes our lives easier, safer, and longer. We make better trains, better cars, better farming equipment. Irrigation, etc.
These increases keep coming. And there is no reason why they should stop. Aside from monetary (controlled by elitists) reasons. You see? Stop arguing for elitists ;)
@AspiringPotato But that's not what you're doing. You're not trying to stop deaths from happening. You're trying to stop births from happening so deaths might not happen.... You sure thinking highly of yourself and our ability to predict the future. I don't think any person, or any group should be able to determine another groups population, jsut because you "think" they might die off by the millions. Why not help them? We could give them so excess food.... oh that's right.. that might help them
@stopeatingpork At the time of the interview the media claimed the world population to be 4 billion. That was a guess at best as is the "official number" being touted now. Nobody really knows and government census figures are used and misused for political purposes, as always. There are lies, damned lies, and statistics.
Of course the host like every New World Order flunky attempts to reinforce the NWO agenda of depopulation. That woman asking the question may have been part of a plan to reinforce it in the public consciousness and John Lennon didn't respond in the way they'd hoped.

We must send 5 billion people with guns and knifes to the sahara desert, make them kill eatchother. Those who survive are lucky, then start over again untill the population grows to +-7 billion people, then do it again.
Seems a pretty ethical solution to me.
pyromaniaknl 7 months ago
He's right, to a point. The world population will reach some level of equilibrium. It will, of course, take a massive amount of starvation, suffering, and death for it to happen. It will also take a complete paradigm shift in human behavior, requiring individuals to be less selfish and more caring, requiring families to show more restraint in procreation, but those things won't change until the bodies are stacked like cordwood and affluent nations suffer like third-world countries.

KaptKan1 7 months ago
@KaptKan1 Just because an entity wants us to be distratced by something else doesn't mean that that something else isn't real. Global warming has been proven and overpopulation is observable as broad daylight. The thing that is really controlling everybody is religion. Religion is used to make poor peole satisifed with nothing because they think they will be rewarded in an afterlife and for the rich to gain even more.
MasterAdam100 7 months ago
@MasterAdam100 Your entirely mistaken attitude toward religious belief is highly ironic coming, as it does, from a global warmite dogmatist. @KaptKan1 Remember, Lennon said this many decades ago. Since the late sixties to today earth's population has roughly doubled.
jeffthecoder 7 months ago
@jeffthecoder Canada alone currently has the capacity to feed double the present population of the entire earth. If you put the entire population into Texas, there would be enough room for every single human to have several acres.
This planet is NOT overpopulated, no matter how much paranoia is used to gull us into hysteria -- and more taxes to "save the planet" -- by the ruling elite of the NWO/banksters/military/industrial/financial complex/Trilaterals and assorted imperialists.
KaptKan1 7 months ago
@KaptKan1 I can certainly agree that there would be no need for depop if everyone better managed their lives and consumption practices..but how did you come to the conclusion that a population of 7 billion would have many acres of land within Texas (about 171 million acres total)? Maybe you meant the entire USA population (not the global population?)
jeffthecoder 7 months ago
@jeffthecoder Yup. My bad; it was the population of the USA. I'm getting old and forgetful... Anyway, the point is that there's not this shoulder-to-shoulder traffic jam of humanity that the alarmists would have us believe.
And the problem isn't "everyone's consumption practices" but the mega-corporations that increasingly monopolise the world's resources while pushing the over-population myth to the detriment of mankind. The enemy is mercantilism, not mankind.
KaptKan1 7 months ago
@KaptKan1 you are 100% right on, its sad how so many "activists" will speak out about issues falsely created by the people they think they are fighting.
Turbo05Dodge 6 months ago
@jeffthecoder its actually true, mathematically speaking. It wouldn't be a nice place to live and its not realistic, but it does kind of prove a point that space is not even remotely an issue. A lot of the 3rd world has food/water issues due to them being raped by the IMF. The irony is that if they were more industrialized their population would go down and they would reduce their food/water issues by a giant percentage.
Turbo05Dodge 6 months ago
@KaptKan1 That smacks of conspiracy nonsense. You can claim the world is not overpopulated at almost any population level even if we were wall to wall brains in tanks.
The real question is:
Is the world too populated for everyone to have a dignified std of living.
I would estimate that std to be something like a working class person in Poland. The Answer with current technology is unfortunately: YES
Even with 60% of the world living in misery we are over-consuming many finite materials
CmdrTobs 5 months ago
@CmdrTobs The "conspiracy nonsense" is all from the "overpopulation" Cassandras. Your "estimate" is based on nonsense about "current technology" and alleged over consumption of finite materials. You ignore the role of the wars in reducing conquered peoples' standards of living, exhausting the wealth of those force to subsidise the madness, and the oil (and other) industry's blocking of alternate energy source development. We don't have too many people; we have too many gullible idiots.
KaptKan1 5 months ago
@KaptKan1 You have it backwards, the wars actually 'help' by reducing many peoples wealth and thus productivity to the point we actually have dupes like you in the first world think any of this is sustainable.
Do you think you could have all you can eat meat, be 10% of the worlds population and consume 70% of resources if it wasn't for the wars and imperialism traditional, cooperate or militaristic that make sure most of the world can't attempt to do the same.
CmdrTobs 4 months ago
@KaptKan1
1,000 educated people can make a desert into a paradise.
flamifer1 4 months ago
@flamifer1 What a crock of shit.Look at the 'educated people' that run this world. They have turned the world into a living hell for most, why do you think there is over fishing? Mega slums? blite13 4 months ago
@blite13
When I said "educated" I was referring to people with technical skills and knowledge. And you are absolutely right. A society can not work properly without social skills (or morale values if you prefer) But I am not an expert in psychology, therefore I can not say what needed to be done to educate people in that respect.
But the topic of this blog is the question how many people can live sustainably on this planet and if and why we should go to the maximum.
flamifer1 4 months ago

JesseKantstopolis 1 year ago
@JesseKantstopolis Oh look! He is informed. And you are quite right, forecasts say that population will continue to rise for about 30 years, we will reach about 8-9 billion and after that we will decline, rapidly. This is based on fertility rates today, not accounting if fertility rates drops even further, or increases ofcourse.
Odium1981 1 year ago
It is already established that the birth rate of a population is inversely proportional to its prosperity. Compare birth rates of countries around the world and you will see this trend very clearly. What's more, many countries in the west have average birth rate per family below the 2.3 figure necessary to simply sustain their populations. And so the solution is for governments and central banks to stop intervening and let countries develop and become prosperous.

@AspiringPotato that's the trillion dollar question. i'm not going to pretend like i know the answer to that, but based on the arguments i've seen from both sides, i feel pretty confident that the earth and it's resources could sustain 5x or more the amount of people we have right now. i don't necessarily think that would be ideal though. supposedly every family on the earth right now could have an acre to themselves on a land mass the size of australia...that leaves a lot of space left over
stopeatingpork 1 year ago 4
@stopeatingpork

@AspiringPotato Yupp.

Mass starvation is man-made by tyranny & controls.
leafwatch 1 year ago
@leafwatch Mass starvation is man-made? You make me laugh. Look at the Earth, look at how much the poulation will rise.

HarriboFTW 1 year ago
@HarriboFTW It is you who needs to read instead of relying on old media sound bites. We had the population scare decades ago. Demographics have changed substantially since then, the trend is changing with education. And densely-populated areas show that's not the issue. The real issue is whether governments of the world will continue enormous waste of resources in wars and failed economic policies, or whether people will get back control over land usage, property, economies and prosper.

I'm just going to end this on saying that if I were this hypothetical "elitist" I'd consider a overpopulated world easier to "control."
AspiringPotato 10 months ago
@AspiringPotato Well don't end there. That is an interesting theory. Expand on it, if you would.
bweazel 10 months ago
@bweazel
Essentially the theory is that a large group of poorly educated people with few material possessions can be duped into assuming the mob mentality relatively easily... and the many crises that would emerge could be exploited. However I am not trying to write a general rule. There are many factors that affect who wields the power.
AspiringPotato 10 months ago
@AspiringPotato Well said. Although I think more people makes it harder for them to form a consensus, but I see your point.

@AspiringPotato That's up to the planet. Not up to you. Ok? By all means, if you seriously believe that overpopulation is true, do us all a favor, and don't reproduce. We could use less people like you in the world.
bweazel 10 months ago
@bweazel
Yeah I wasn't planning on reproducing.

@AspiringPotato Good.
I've got an idea. Don't live in a desert. I know, what a ground breaking idea.
I could care less how many people live whereever. Doesn't effect me any. If they live in a desert, and fuck like rabbits, they're going to have lots of deaths. Just the way it is over there. As soon as they're ready to stop killing each other, they can have a nice place to live, necessary birth rate would drop, and things would smooth out.
bweazel 10 months ago

@bweazel
AspiringPotato 10 months ago
@AspiringPotato Waste... inevitable? No, not at all. You only consider it to be this way because fractional reserve banking has created a moral hazard.
Well. I say your prevention, is more of a socialist behavior than anything else. You know better than other people how to live their lives, or how many children they need to work their farms, etc. You know better than them.
The environment would stop any population before it got to that size. Plus the population would stop itself.
bweazel 10 months ago
@AspiringPotato We are no where close to this carrying capacity. Plus, the carrying capacity is constantly being expanded, which you all never really talk about. Every single day, tech is being made that makes our lives easier, safer, and longer. We make better trains, better cars, better farming equipment. Irrigation, etc.
These increases keep coming. And there is no reason why they should stop. Aside from monetary (controlled by elitists) reasons. You see? Stop arguing for elitists ;)
bweazel 10 months ago

@stopeatingpork To cut global poverty and hunger in half would cost $20 billion.
Annual military spending in the U.S. in more than $500 billion....

Of course the host like every New World Order flunky attempts to reinforce the NWO agenda of depopulation. That woman asking the question may have been part of a plan to reinforce it in the public consciousness and John Lennon didn't respond in the way they'd hoped.
