Okay this is his own personal PRS.....just imagine the very best wood ever in that factory and best wound pickups and best everything are in that guitar!
@Songwriter4God There were no PRS amps when this was filmed. They are actually playing through Sewell Amps. Doug Sewell is now the design engineer for PRS amps.
PRS dominates the guitar world no questions... it plays so easily and you can play any thing on it with a great tone including jazz, rock, funk, and it looks awesome
I was at this event. He gave the dude who set it all up a custom guitar with gold inlay. gold frets and tuning keys. it was beautiful. I though the dude was gonna cry.
I've always wanted a PRS guitar, and I'm looking into getting one soon. But I was wondering which model would be better for my style. I've looked at custom 24 and Modern Eagles. I know Breaking Benjamin uses them, but idk which kind they use. I like hard stuff like that, and there tone of there songs. And I use allot of drop tunings like them. Any advice?
I would suggest the Mcarty II. that is a great guitar! The Modern Eagle is really nice too. But if u want class then get a Santana MD or something like that. check out there web site or visit the place and test em' out. great choice on choosing a PRS!!!!
I would go and play some of the guitars and see what fits you, a guitar needs to feel right. You can make it sound the way you want later, but feel is the most important thing.
By no means am I generalizing PRS. Dont you think that there styles are very similar? You cant tell me that they dont sound the same and I dont listen to Pink Floyd so I wouldnt know the song if I heard it.
hey, do you see those PRS prototype amps in the back next the marshalls. I saw and heard those at the PRS Experience 2008 and they are seriously the best amps in the world... just shockingly amazing. Crazy awesome.
oh yeah dude the new prs amps will kill but unless youve got some serious dough Id look else where. doug sewell is running the whole operation so you know theyre going to be awesome, that on top of a PRS name and Im sure the prices will be absurd. if I were you Id try to find a used sewell, itll get you the fantastic tone paul and his band have here as paul is a HUGE sewell enthusiast
yeah i know, i'm just waiting to see how much they cost, it's gonna be insane. But my gosh, I was at the Experience this year, and they all sound AWESOME!!! an they even look cool. Got the one they had out for people to use as the wallpaper for my phone.
Yeah, that's my dream amp. so your saying sewell are good. hmm.... i'll have to look into them.
dudes i know prs and i am playing at one of his shows at rams head as a rythm guiatrist.( I know him through my dad- high school and Paul thoght i was pretty good when he came over to my dads house to go golfing. then he asked me to play with him next summer.)IT ROCKS!
After my tricked out Les Paul was stolen, I bought a 57 re-issue strat, then in 88' I went to get my "dream" guitar, a Rich Bitch. When I played it, it was a colpete joke next to this off brand Paul Reed Smith, standard, cherry color. So glad I bought it back then. the only gripe, chrome trim, black knobs, but cream color PU rings? $1200 was a good buy. through a 71' souped twin reverb with orig alteclansings, its great.
@magicstar911 Yeah the THIN is pretty thin. They are both nice in their own way.. I have 2 wide thins and 2 wide fat. Try them out see which one you like.. They're insane guitars. Worth every penny. I am selling the 10th anniversary Model I have.
@magicstar911 I would say that the regular PRS neck is more like a stratocaster neck. the wide fat and wide thin necks are both wider than a typical strat neck. There's so many varieties of strat necks out there so it's hard to compare
If you can at all afford it, go for the real thing...I've played the carvin look-a-likes, and the SE's -NOT in the same caliber IMO. Heavy price tag, but you'll never replace it.
Wow I wish I owned a PRS...a good one at least...any PRS under $1000 generally isnt as good...and I dont have the finances to own a good one...bummer..anyways hats off to Paul.
I met Paul yesterday at Daves in LaCrosse. The funny thing is, he doesnt consider himself a great guitarist. I guess a true genius is never satisified - thats what makes his guitars so great. A great musician and a great, unpretentious person.
I meet Paul at NAMM a few years ago. I went to his private party at the Galaxy theatre. He got up on stage kicked everyone's ass. When he stepped down he asked me if did ok. I don't think he realizes how good he is.
Paul is so good. His guitars are so awesome because he has so much passion for music and guitars and he knows what a guitarist needs. I have a custom 22.The tone is unbelievable.
Paul started with band of a thousand names at Charlie's Westside in Annapolis MD.Everytime they played the name changed.I had other friends that played in that band.Paul Reed's a Great guitar player and maker.Hats off to you Paul
Nice to see the man playing as well making a brill guitar. I own a `89 Vintage Yellow Custom 24 10top with birds, and up till now have not founds anything that looks/sounds better. As they say `Simply The Best` Thanks Paul..
I've met Paul but can't say I know him, however, a good friend of mine works for him and says that Paul is extremely smart, very generous and really cares a lot about the artists PRS endorses and the guitars they build. Paul is not a Joe Bonamassa but I stand by my opinion that he plays well.
make sure that all 6 screws are perfectly level. If one is just a hair off, the trem wont return to pitch. A trick I did, that works very well is to remove the 4 inside screws. This allows the trem to float on the 2 outside screws. This allows for easier adjustments, and the trem returns to pitch perfectly. Hope this helps.
You guys really think so? I think paul is a... decent guitarist... Honestly... I think hes a bad guitar player. But i have a custom 24 and i just convinced my dad to buy the standard 22 he now has and we both love our guitars to death and dont play anything else. Best guitars on the planet.
I own two PRS Customs (22 and 24 fret models), and they are easily my favorite guitars. Nice to know that the owner is an actual guitar player - I'm sure that has a lot to do with the final product.
Ed Roman is a cool dude and all, but he blows soo much smoke out of his ass on his site. I agree with his points that PRS is overpriced for a CNC built instrument, but I disagree that CNC's make a guitar bad. Personally, I don't think there is any "best guitar" in the world. However, Ibanez and Jackson both do it for me. Ibanez Prestige series, whether they be a Japanese RG, or a Korean S, really do it for me, and Jackson Soloists of any kind just have a magic sound to them.
I was at this show too. Actually I saw several sets by the PRS Band throughout the weekend. The other lead guitarist here that is sitting in is Kirby Kelly. You'll find him here on YouTube sitting in with Bugs Henderson also.
They use an old Mesa/Boogie of Santana's to test every single guitar. That's actually a guy's job, just sit there and play every PRS through that amp.
