1999 Honda Prelude Timing belt noise problem

i got tihs same problem./ FIX IT RYTE AWAY. it will cost u 400 bux, i think its a tensioner problem./ fix it ryte away. my car ended up breaking down on me, and i ended up towing it. and ppl are quoting me 2000 - 3200

@tna420wrestling Get rid of that auto tensioner POS and do the manual tensioner conversion. I sounds like if someone is quoating you $2000 to $3000 to fix it, there are some serious problems with the engine. It your timing belt broke on this H22a engine most likely the head is trashed. Sounds like the timing belt broke, and your piston came up and hit some valves in the head and bent the valves. I've fixed several preludes were this was the case.

@civicboy123 yeah, tahts wats 1 of the guys told me. i donno what to do.. rebuild this h22a/ get a new or used h22a.. or maybe even a faster engine..

look at my video sounds similar my timing belt was off a tooth. was hard to set it right due to adj cam gears. probally something wrong with the timing / cam or valves could be in need of adjustment not sure if they are adjustable like my b20a. also timing belt could be too tight. probally a bad tensioner, as ive heard on these motors.

My engine does the exact same sound : the kind of whining noise as well as the ticking of the valves... Please let me know if you found a way to fix this. For the valves ticking, I think our cars might need a valve adjustment...?

Its another balancer belt being too tight. This happened on my H.

The best solution....preludes us a janky auto tensioner take it off and throw it away look up a swap to a manual tensioner ( they are out there) from an h23 and never worry about this agian I'm about to do this...any more questions comments here or pm me...I am a mechanic and a Prelude owner

@ikilledmacdre hey i have a 1999 prelude its making a rattling noise under the hood as well it only happens in idle or when the speed is low the car has 125000 km i didnt get the timing belt done yet, some noise was coming from the cat convertoer but i changed that but the other noise is still there what do u think it can be

@KHONAMONA hey buddy i have the same problem with my prelude too,,exact same,,like valves or pistons gonna break any minute after it slows down to idle rpm,,plz tell me if u got it yet. wat was the problem,,thanks.

belt will whine when to tight... belt will slap alot and cause idol problems when too loose

whining like that is usually right after changing the T-belt and getting it a little tight........did it ever go away?

@Mafcoupe1930 I got the same sound, I changed my Timing Belt like 2000 kms ago, still as loud. But I think the car had the same noise before the Timing belt was changed.

check ur power steering oil i thought it was my belt too but it turned out my power steering oil was low

I have 99 Accord v-tec engine.

Just recently noticed slight noise.....very similar to sound in this video.

I hope it is just related to the timing belt.
