This is how I played this song 33 years ago, and it's absolutely wrong. The guitar should be tuned to Eb! And then you play the riff on 2 and 4 frets, and the chords on 5 and 7 fret. For you tone deaf beginners who think it's ok because it sounds good anyway; it DOESN'T, it sounds WRONG. Develop your ear.

If you're going to play this song in standard tuning, just play the patterns the right way. It won't sound like the record, but it will sound more right than this. Expert village, my ass!

Otherwise known as an Augmented fourth or diminshed fifth transposition, half an octave difference changes the sound of a song drastically. Stop being such a 14 year old and learn something about music.

@devlinhc1996 Beacase for an open A you NEED the A string to ring, if you play Ab the A string wont ring, besides if you want to learn more from a technical point of view (scales, modes, etc) then this messes that up, maybe that's why

I play this when i got my guitar tuned to E, the other way that you might be thinking of is like Ace plays it original because almost all of the kiss songs are tuned to E flat ;) So he's totally wrong

I´m sorry, but it´s not accurate. Just to help anybody: DRC is in the key of C#m, not in C as played in the video. Guitar should be tuned a half step down. You can check this out on any KISS live video. Again, just to help.

Almost the whole Song is in C-Minor. When singing "Gett Up" Powerchords from G to A-flat. When singing get down. Powerchords from C to B-flat. The Verse Powerchordprogression is :

C E-flat B-flat F C ( I - III - VII - IV - I)

Play the starting Riff first like he does, but then

as perfect fourth on the 3rd and 4th string on the 3rd and 5th fret

hes playin in a different key, the original is in the key of A. play the opening trippelets on the 2 and 4 fret of the A. then do open e then an a power chord on 2 fret, then a B on the 2 fret A and 4 fret D

It sounds wrong too you because he is playing it in standard tuning and he is playing it in a different key...the origional song is played in the key of A.....do the starting riff ar the second and third fet on the a string then use the chords B5 C#5 AND YOU WILL FIND THAT IT SOUNDS MORE RIGHT TOO YOU..ALSO TUNE DOWN 1/2 STEP...

Yes youngsters all songs can be played in any key so keep that in mind when you here something that sounds right but different remember different keys.....

it normally is because kiss was always tuned a half step down so he just played it a half step down from how you normally play it in standard tuning made it easier for us all!
