We all know that a route or a boulder problem is impossible to imagine until you try it yourself. "He uses his arm to much" well, maybe he have too? We cant know for sure if the holds he can use for his feet are that good? We cant know the excact angle he is positioned inn. If he didn't have a good technique he wouldn't be looked at as one of the top in the world within the rock climbing sport!
Of course he has good technique, but a lot of the time he has the capabilities to just use his upper body, so why not?! If you watch him on First Round First Minute (on Progression by Big Up) you can see how much technique it demands of the body.
For real boxster. People become so engaged in the "proper" ways of doing things that they become zealots in some stupid cause and don't realize that after a certain point, anything goes if it works.
He would gracefully climb anything under V10, and sometimes the best thing you can do is not use your feet, it helps put your weight under you instead of off to the side.
Great point! sometimes I try to bicycle moves and waste too much time. Sometimes, it's best to cut loose and get to the next hold. The only people criticizing sharma should be other v15 climbers. But, hey, that's youtube. Everyone knows more than the pros.
@boxsterwelby Compare sean mccolls' accent of dream catcher to Sharmas'. Sean definitely did it more efficiently and I think Chris could make a major break through if he started focus on movement. On the other hand Chris' climbing style is a testimony to how fucking strong he is.
@FTR01 Not really, Chris' style has allowed him to be the best climber in the world. I dont think his style can be criticised by any individual everyone has their own unique climbing style and should always stick to it.
yes beacuse you know more then Chris Sharma, my bad.
It all depends on the rock, it depends on where your going, where u came from and what kind of holds you are using. one example: sidepull- body weight is much easier put to the side. you should climb more, and get outside the gym, you need it.
i've heard that sharma doesn't have good technique! He uses to much arm and not enough leg. At this level, he uses what ever works. Everyone should respect that. If his arms are stronger and he doesn't need his legs, who are we to argue?

I think Chris Sharma is awesome, but youtube is all about being able to give your opinion, however flawed or unsettling
