Here it is Feb. 6, 2012 and I just came across this. I am a long time Jimmie Rodgers affectionaldo, and buddy I think you've done a dang good bang up job. Nice, real nice.
This has a good old time sound to it. I love the idea of the song and notice the words "way out". I think some us would like to be way out somewhere, where things are peaceful in a more spiritual way.
You did a good job, but in places it sounds like your pitch will drift a tiny bit, but no big deal.
Thank you very much! Your comment is really timely because this was my first effort on YT, and I've been recently thinking about doing this one again to see how I've progressed in the past year and a half.
You are WAY too kind :-) Thank you for watching. This was the first video I ever posted to YouTube. Thank you for watching and listening. It means a lot coming from someone with such talent!
Hey Rob, still sounding great AND authentic to me. One of my favorite bumper stickers reads, "Real musicians have day jobs." Unfortunately for me, I'm retired, but that's the way it goes. All the best to you and the little guy. - Mark
Mark, thanks for the kind words. This was my first effort on here, and it's pretty rough around the edges. Glad you enjoyed it though, that means a lot. I love the bumper sticker, too! If I were ballsy enough to call myself a musician, I might consider getting it :-)
Hey, my folks are retired, and apparently they still have day jobs -- trying to figure out how to occupy themselves! So, keep on being a musician and crankin' it out!
this is a such a great cover and a great song! if you havent heard, i recommend the long gone smiles band, they have a myspace...they try to keep jimmie rodgers music alive today with a similar style. Why did i stray is an example thats on their myspace.
It would be quiet in the woods if only the birds with the most beautiful songs were allowed to sing. I heard that somewhere - I like it. It applies to a lot of us - keep it up - sounds good to me.
I haven't heard that saying, either, but it's quite nice. Thanks for the encouragement. I'll keep it up as best I can. I appreciate your listening and commenting.

Rob, anyone who plays from the heart is a musician in my book, and your music is certainly heartfelt, so go out and get that bumper sticker. - Mark

Thank you! I'll take a look at that band. I'm always looking for modern bands who play this style of music. Thanks for the tip, and listening!
