Before that burma never use knee or chin, they would rush attack throwing punches. And burma has lost alot fighting like that with thai lolz. I say now they improve and using knee and chin lol. I have studied about diffferent martial arts and Burma use all kinds of skills, elbow, knee, chin, headbutts since many, many years ago but many of them tried to knock others out with their strong fists. Look at the above clip, the guy mostly use his fists and finally the thai guy got a few serious punches which knock him down.

@bukboy123 "I don't think so" is a figure of speech. That means you're wrong. In the history of Burmese boxing, there were many occasions when they knocked out opponents by elbow, knee strikes. May be you're talking about border matches in 1980s when many not-well-trained people from Burmese fighted against Thai counterparts. Burmese boxers had been using legs, elbows, knees since 18th century or so.

accorging to discovery channel,thai has 6000 professional boxers and modern gym boxing clubs about 1000.its not eazy to be a champion in thai.

Burma is poor country . .About less than 50(professional boxers)because that income is not enought for boxers. just about 20 boxing clubs and can not open wholeyear round.All clubs has no private rings,no modern trainning equiptments,no roof,just on the gruond.Even in this situration,burmese boxers can fight the thai professional boxers.I admire them.

The first knock down, lone chaw's right hand probably got throught the thai['s guard. The camera angle doesnt show it clearly but the first right hand and then another one on the way down probably hurt the thai. The knock out at the end though, seems like only the left hand connected and the right hand got him on the temple/hands

yes u are right. Think about why ethnic karen fighters dominate in lethwei. A lot of the fighters were born and raised in the jungles or villages in the karen state where their people are facing genocise. The only way for karens to get back at the 'burmese' is throught fighting in the ring. However, living in a harsh environment such as Burma would make most people naturally tough.
