I just got myself one of these mic's but with no software. I'm running windows 7 and i've tried everywhere to get the latest device driver, any ideas?
@MRKRAZY1870 Do I think it's a better mic over the AT2020? Yes. Will it work for you and your vocal characteristics? Don't know. You would have to hook one up and test it.
im looking for a usb mic.. im willing to spend up to 300.. im trying to avoid buyin a pre amp because of all the research i've been doing, i see that the majority of them have a difficult time working with windows 7. I was wondering if you think this mic will be a good mic for recording music. I rap.. . if u dont think it is do u have any idea of a good usb mic i can buy?
@Kush1027 It is a great mic in that it articulates vocals very well. Will it work for you? I don't know. it all depends on your vocal characteristic and how you work a mic.
FYI... unless they made two versions, that is *not* a condenser. It's a dynamic front addressed mic. It's basically an integrated USB version of the Procaster model.
Great un-boxing video. I watched Micheal Mannas video on Microphones not long ago and I am actually very interested in this Mic so that when I do my tutorials my voice comes in clearer.
I may go with the cheaper alternative though and order the Blue Snowball microphone.
Michael has a great video on mics and the gear he has used.
I began podcasting in late 2006, and that's when I found out about the Rode Podcaster. But, I opted to go with a mixer (Alesis Multimix 8 USB) and condenser mic (AKG Perception 200).
I will be posting video(s) in the next few days with audio examples from the Rode Podcaster.
I would not hesitate to buy the SnowBall. I've heard nothing but good things from many who have demoed and used it. Good luck!
That's awesome. Looking forward to seeing your unboxing video.
I really don't think you can go wrong with the Snowball from Blue. I know for a fact that they are sold at Guitar Center. So if you have one local, stop in, I am sure the guys will let you demo one. Unfortunately, they do not carry the Rode Podcaster in-store.
I will have a few vids up in the next couple of days.
Nice video! I use a Mbox mini and a few condensers. For some reason I don't trust usb microphones. Maybe I'm old school like that. I'm an aspiring audio engineer. Once again great vid!
Cool!! I wanna buy it!!

I will be acquiring the Snowball soon, and I will be doing an unboxing video myself.
I will be looking forward to hearing what you have to say about this Mic soon, it may persuade me to spend a little more to get it.

Two thumbs up... although I can't believe mics go for $200. You learn something new every day...

Thank you. Much appreciated.
Being "old school" isn't a bad thing. Most often when I get those feelings, its for a good reason.
I am curious though, why you don't trust USB mics.
