  • This has to be one of the most epic scenes of cinema history

  • If I was a orc I would shit my pants when they all chant death, and start charging.

  • 6:33

    "FUCK YOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!"

  • Courage for our friends.

  • Man, what I wouldn't give to charge the field with the Rohirrim!

  • @MrWonkoSane I used to charge the field with the Rohirrim... but then I took an... oh well you know the rest.

  • @january312010 I just dont get what you are complaining about! This is considered the best scene in movie history! What would be the point if the enemy wasnt a serious threat? If Tolkien had got the chance to see these movies he would be amazed and proud! And he would probably give Peter Jackson a big hug! Peter had just as much passion for the lord of the rings as Tolkien did!

  • Rohan? Moar liek BROhan

  • this is the greatest scene in movie history.

    ever.

  • DEATH!!!!!

  • 0:43 DARTH MAUL????

  • Best moment of cinematography ever.

  • DEATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My tutor is called Rohan!!

  • For ThePaphnutius: the Nazgul did NOT shatter either Gandalf's shield or his holding of the gate. Please read Tolkein. Why in the name of fortune Jackson and Walsh departed so poorly from the book at this point is a mystery. Its not as if Gondor was in serious strife without the pretense that a Nazgul could defeat a Maia. Worst point of a brilliant film which actually undermined Gandalf's achievement in having the Rhorirrim come to Gondor's aid.

  • As a retired Captain, I really like his orders and then the fllowing "all in" charge. King Theoden really knows when and where to deploy his military resources. It is clear that his great heavy cav army will succeed or perish.

  • 5:06, when this song plays i'm ready to anyone.

  • Ah yeahhhhhh!

  • "Forth, and fear no darkness!"

  • how the bloody 'ell was the nazgul able to shatter Gandalf's staff?

  • @ThePaphnutius I don't know, actually,he´s not able That part has not sense at all!!

  • i wonder how many horses they needed for this movie.........

  • My second favorite scene from my favorite movie...My favorite one is that of the Gates Of Mordor....

  • Eomer take your Eóred down the left flank!

  • Gothmog: Fire! FIRE AT Will!!

    Orc: Which one's Will?!

  • @0mniishred seriously? after all this time? :D

  • @0mniishred no matter how many times i hear that joke its still funny :)

  • 3:43 "Forth! And fear no darkness!" My favorite line from any of the movies.

  • 0:46 darth maul

  • why would those idiot women wait till the last minute before they run up the tower of minas tirith

  • DEAAAAAAAAAATH!

  • ah special extended ededition the only real LOTR ...fuck these cut shit

  • 6:08 Chuck Norris?!!

  • @XScotty95X Oh no that's just his secret twin. People often get them confused.

  • This will happen to goverment if SOPA passes.

  • I'm watching this to get pumped up for a conch piercing :O

  • 6:08 that guy may have to seek out a therapist...

  • Now imagine that charge with tanks.

  • Rohirrim stan for life. <3

  • It would seem annoying at first that this video doesn't go right to the Rohirrim charge, but I personally like how it includes Gandalf's confrontation with the Witch King.

  • This is the scene that I most remember from the films. I was moved the first time I saw the riders of Rohan appear before the citadel, and I feel exactly the same way watching it all these years later.

  • God this is one of the greatest moments in cinema history.

  • @warwatcher91 could not agree more!

  • @mattcaserta Indeed, glad I have this movie on DVD!

  • I didn't like this. I eam come on. Gandals is a Maiar. The with king as unnatural as he is, should not have that kind of mastery over a blessed power from Valinor.

  • @Julius55555 Witch King*

  • who gets a chill running up their spine when the rohirrim arrives at the hill?

  • Behind every great man is a great horse.

  • @KTAtkocaitis more like under but I see your point ^-^

  • @gossamer999 touche

  • 2:13 ...............lucky Gandalf .... lucky !

  • I have to admit. If I was riding on horse back charging towards a quarter of a million enemies, I would be crapping in my pants. "Forth Eorlingas and a new pair of pants!"

  • @ShadowGunner82 SPEARS SHALL BE SHAKEN, SHIELDS SHALL BE SPLINTERED, A SWORD DAY, A RED DAY, ERE THE SUN RISES! RIDE NOW! RIDE NOW! RIDE FOR RUIN AND THE WORLD'S ENDING! DEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Rohirrim = european nationalists from all white nations.

Orcs = traitors and non white invaders

  • @14LegionCA

    Rohirrim = Ancient europeans

    Orcs = Nazi Germany

Go fuck yourself, I hope someone kills your parents

  • @joeymediauk

    shut up chimp.

    Magna Evropa es patria nostra.

    Rohirrim = white pride

  • @14LegionCA Dude, I'm white

Do some research, Tolkien based the idea for Saurons armies on Hitlers armies

  • @joeymediauk

yeah orcs are nazis ahahaha and rohirrim are from ghana. :D how pathetic.

  • @14LegionCA

Did I say that, heres what Tolkien based the people of Middle Earth on:

    Gondor - Ancient Rome

    Rohan - Anglo Saxon, Norse

    Mordor - Nazi German

Damn, you nazis are stupid, probably due to the fact that you mums also your sister

  • @joeymediauk

it doesnt matter, we consider what we can see, rohirrim, are pride, honour, corage, and thats an aryan behavior. orcs are that africa in all ways. thats all

  • @14LegionCA How about you stop trying to represent us white people. You fascists are the dregs of our gene pool

  • @joeymediauk

us? you want to be an orc, go to africa.. all the way.

  • @14LegionCA Never said I did, I just dont want a nazi trying to represent us

  • @joeymediauk

ahh ok, so the problem now is the "nazi" You are a fine example of brainwashed automaton of pós-1945 propaganda, congrats.

  • @14LegionCA

Lol I fought you were the brainwashed...

  • @joeymediauk

Arguing from emotion instead of facts, so typical.

  • @joeymediauk Read the "foreword to the second edition" of the book; Tolkien clearly states that "As for any inner meaning or "message", it has in the intention of the author none. It is neither allegorical nor topical."

    So fuck you

  • @Silwrath careful dude, dropped your V-Card

  • @joeymediauk hahahaha well played sir. Inaccurate, but well played

  • @14LegionCA Don't insult white people you dirty facist

  • Crazy or not but who wouldnt want to be a part of that cavalry charge, to die in it, then its a good death. To live through it then the celebrations for months after would be huge... think ill go play lord of the rings online :)

  • Why dont the women have swords? That was awealthy city and women can fight.

  • I am not a crying man. I don't cry at sad things. When I saw the Rohirrim charge however, I shed a few tears.

  • I wouldnt want to mess with that many rohirrim

  • Everytime I watch this I get the urge to scream "DEATH!" along with them. The Rohirrim are awesome.

  • greatest moment in the universe ever

  • gothmog made 3 accounts to dislike this video

  • i can't wait for the hobbit movie!

  • This is what happens when you don't have any Calvary in your army, and your pikeman are utter shit... bloody typical dumbs orcs.. no contingency plan.

  • 6:10 Watch the orc's face.

  • When I first saw this at the theather, I cried when they charged, because it just shows how humanity can stand up for whats right even though things are against them.

  • 6:09 i aint fk care wut kind of monster u are im gonna trample over u

  • This is my favorite scene from any movie

  • 5:58 oh shit, huge rocks don't scare me but these crazy bastards do. FUUUUUUU.....

  • Our team screamed Death like in this movie just before our last kick return onside kick to win us the game. (football) I was the kicker so I felt badass

  • best vid. i ve ever watched.

  • There one smalle reason to complain. Having Volume total up, but still it isn't loud enough. ;-(

I wanted to be blasted away with the Horses. ;-)

  • Pippin at 2:00 is just like, "fuck that"

  • 3 orcs disliked this

  • Why is the Nazgul flaying away... does he need 10 minutes to fly to the battlefield!?

  • 3 orcs disliked the video

  • probably the most epic scene ever to be created

  • one of the best movie scenes i ever saw

  • Probarly the only thing i dislike about the lord of the rings movies. Gondor's soldiers looks like their the orc's punching bags. Like seriously. Each battle, between orc's and gondor, you see the archers of gondor get som kills, and some of the important characters. In the battle of osgiliath, you even see orcs just lifting the gondor soldiers up. COME ON! Their not that bad!

  • 2:38

    I came

  • EPIC!!!!

  • I may be wrong but is it true that only so many of the extras riding horse completed the scene because carrying the equipment and riding at full pelt was too physically demanding?

  • the scene with witchking is such great in the book.i think peter lost his mind here.

  • i cant remember the scene at 1:45

  • @pitsart It's because it's from the extended cut

  • @XendoZA ohh, okay. Im too lazy to read the description... :)

  • Cavalry is a scary thing to face against. Having a 1000 lbs horse running at you with a guy riding it, wielding a sword or bow. Just one cavalry man can be worth ten, even twenty, foot soldiers. All depends on the riders skill, and the horses strength.

  • @porpus99 As long as you've got a disciplined core of spearmen/pikemen cavalry aren't really any trouble. Cavalry are usually very few because only the nobility could afford the necessary horse and armor, while spearmen are easily trained and easily equipped. Even the Rohirrim would fail utterly if they were up against Spartans or Alexander's Macedonian phalanxes.

  • @SerIsaacNewton Cavalry is good, if you know how to use it. During the Civil War Philip Stuart deployed cavalry in long-range raids, the first of which, at Yellow Tavern, resulted in the death of Confederate commander Jeb Stuart(Southern Cavalry commander). He later employed his cavalry force effectively in the Valley Campaigns of 1864 and the Appomattox Campaign, in pursuit of Robert E. Lee who commanded the Army of Northern Virginia.

  • @porpus99 Sure but I never said cavalry were bad or not good, and your example is very different from the type of force you described (sword or bow), and in the context of this video, I was assuming you were mostly talking about cavalry in the mould of the Rohirrim - classical spear/sword wielding horsemen against spearmen. Cavalry IS good, there is no question about that, especially the ranged kind as you just described or the Mongols who had the finest cavalry in the world.

  • @porpus99 Also, I think you got "Phillip Stuart" confused with Phillip Sheridan and one J.E.B. Stuart. And from I just quickly looked up about the Battle of Yellow Tavern, it looks like the Union cavalry commander beat a "numerically inferior" confederate cavalry detachment. So in that case it was cavalry against cavalry, and while it showcases the uses of cavalry, does not necessarily highlight their strengths against other forces.

  • @SerIsaacNewton Alright, then lets go back in time to 1222-1242 the Mongol invasion of Europe. The Mongols were expert in Cavalry, implementing Archers and swordsmen who were surprisingly accurate. There blades and bows were designed for Cavalry use. They invaded an Empire more technologically advanced then they were, but the Mongols were experts in the art of combat. Europe was on the verge of total collapse, but the Mongols left just as quickly as they had come.

  • @porpus99 Yes, there are no questions about that. They also had vast quantities of something many cavalry did not: discipline. It's very impressive, as you note, to see how Genghis Khan organized a group of nomadic goat herders, into one of the most fearsome cavalry forces in history. The only force I figure that could go head to head with a Mongol cavalry force I reckon would be knights, and that'd be only if the Mongols let them.

  • @SerIsaacNewton Cavalry is effective, if you know what you are doing. That is why my original comment about Cavalry being a scary thing. In the books and movies, Rohan was known for Cavalry, and for a good reason. Say this many horses road down the hill towards an enemy. You would have to be aware of the enemy in front of you and the people around you at all times. If not, two horses could collide and possibly cause a chain reaction. Great, as long as you know what you are doing.

  • Shivers and teary eyes. Every goddamn time.

  • Hakkaa päälle, pohjan poika!

  • @Losrandir

    Vittu jee!

  • Pigman baby, pigman

  • Always good for getting pumped the fuck up.

  • 6:07 this is the one dude that you dont wanna fuck with...ever!

  • @Hruder He's alright with a pint of bitter and a game of dominoes.

  • @Hruder Why?

  • @GrimmRebellion

Go ahead, mess with him. see what happens.

  • Love this scene!!!

  • They're not even using swords or spears. They're just running the bastards over!

  • the way those horses mauled through those orcs.. are they horses or are they TANKS?

then again, are those men, or are they GODS

  • @UndeadTreeHugger Well... let's think about it for one second. Let's say you are amongst those orcs and a horse that is riding at full speed with armor on it hits you. What do you think will happen with you?

  • greatest scene in movie history

  • 5:58 Oh shit!

  • Where is the epic button right ? I just feel like riding with Theoden down at the orcs ! \m/

  • This song is a masterpiece..... is from another world.

  • This is the BEST movie (all 3 parts) from the World.

I think the alliens has saw this movie 100 times.

  • When Gandalf shouts "Fight for your lives!" it sounds like Pippin shouts "Fuck off!", lol. I know he isn't shouting that, but amidst all the noise that's what it sounds like.

  • Horse-by FTW!!!!!

  • Best part 2:30

  • Lol forget drive by's

    This is a horse-by!!

    Of epic proportions!!

  • Nothing can top this scene.. its beyond epic. Something that could come close though would be some of the battles from "A Storm of Swords" if done right.. thats why the tv series is gonna fail with its budget i believe :( Peter Jackson should make movies out of the ASOIAF instead

  • We're gonna need LONGER pikes!" I bet the commander of the Orc army was thinking that as they got closer. They were more like spears than pikes, pikes are much much longer.

  • How come his Staff breaks in that scene... but when he gets to Denethor... he smacks him in the face with his staff.... did he tape it up???

  • @HarakMolova the better question is why is Eowyn not in the kitchen?

  • @HarakMolova Haven't he got a brown stick ?

  • @HarakMolova That is a great call. In the book Gandalf's staff never breaks. In the extended version they show him acting like a bitch in front of the witch king and getting his staff broken (why? I have no clue). They ultimately cut it out of the theatrical version hence the reappearance of the staff after it breaks. In the book Gandalf was fully ready to go toe to toe, but Rohan shows up and the witch king runs off.

  • @HarakMolova

Actually, in the movie Gandalf's staff doesn't show up until the epilogue at the Grey Havens. The "staff" that Gandalf hits Denethor with is a flagpole that he tears from the floor of the tomb.

  • @Antenox I have just 1 question, where did Gandalf found another staff? When I saw the normal version I didnt knew why he didnt have the staff with Denethor, then I saw the extended edition but... he had 2 staffs? like one in his house just in case?

  • @bram221 Yes, please do!

  • I prefer the theatrical version of this particular scene. Gandalf vs. the Witchking is epic. But it's badly placed.

  • the music <3

  • thumbs up for this epic scene

  • Why in the fucking world would anyone choose to PAUSE this scene, and put on any other soundtrack than the original? This scene is fucking perfect the way it is
