I'm seriously considering one of these. What makes me hesitate a little is the short barrel/magnum combination--it looks like you really need a 4-5" barrel to get the performance out of a .357 up beyond what you get from 9mm. Definitely looks like a high-quality gun, though!

The Nite Guard looks like a decent pistol. AT 26 oz, it might be a little bit light for the recoil. Was wondering when S&W would come up with a lite wt 8 shot. But I've been packing a Taurus 608 8 shot 357 for a long time now as a CCW. A bit heavier for sure. Longer barrel too. I like it well enough. +2 rounds for when you need them most. Zombies or two legged thugs get fooled if they keep a round count on what you expend....

@gmenpunisher The grip that comes standard on that pistol is a smooth grip that is very different than the Hogue grip. Check the Smith and Wesson site for what the standard grip looks like. You will never regret adding a Hogue grip!

@Pie42795 Smith and Wesson makes plenty of long barrel revolvers for sure but I don't understand why you would need anything else for home defense. Think about it, you are more likely to have this one on you all the time home or away and you have eight hard hitting rounds to get the bad guys with. What more could one ask for in a handgun? A gun is only good if you can and will carry it at all times......Thanks my friend.

@bigdaddyhoffman1911 Well, I would carry this, and love it, but I would want something a bit bigger and heavier as an "under the bed gun." I donno, some people are okay with short-barreled pistols for home defense, but I would find the extra velocity and less recoil (For quicker follow-up shots) even with defense loads. I love the 8 rounds and the night sight, and think that a 4 or 6 inch barreled version would be perfect for under the bed. Still very mobile, but very powerful and controlable.
