I clicked on the uninstall button and about 1 second afterwards a window pooped up and says the PAV is gone. i am going on the internet and it is no longer redirecting me to some fake website urging me to buy anti virus like it did before. im still kind of scared, how can i double check to see if it is gone?

if you have restored your computer at a safe restore point, then you can turn it off and immediately on again. The whole exercise is meant to delete the previous restore points so as to remove the virus files in them

Yeah it's infected. Try thinking, its a fake. There is no update, no activation, no pay or licensed. Therefore just downloading it is all there is to let the virus run through your computer.

Great clip , very informative and thourough. But I have a question. If I just close the window that shows the fake scan and do not download it , am I still in danger? Also , 2 days in a row this Personal Anti Virus tried to get into my computer. Why is that happening all of a sudden? i never had an issue like it and am going to the same sites , pretty safe sites too. i got malwarebytes and Ran my Norton 360 and it showed nothing each time , but I am still concerned.

if you did not download then the infection is limited to your browser and temp files. Run a freeware called CCleaner, and also use another browser (like firefox) for some time till you get rid of the infection.

First and fore most. Thank you for your insightful knowledge. I used Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware on safe mode as you suggested. It worked amazingly! For the ones of you who have to suffer from this debilitating Trojan, use it. Its just a bitch downloading it with PAV on your comp. GOOD LUCK!

Nasty little program can be removed with revo uninstaller. Just drag the file out of your start program and put it on your desktop. And then use revo uninstaller to get rid of the nasty program. Personal Antivirus is a rogue anti-spyware created by company named Innovagest 2000 and is a clone of General Antivirus and Internet Antivirus Pro. Then RCcleaner it after words then restart the computer. Another way is by Using C:/. But that is for the advanced users.

I installed revo and dragged the Personal Antivirus program to my desktop, but when I ran Revo it didn't find PersonalAV. How else can I uninstall it?

i would advise you to run a freeware called "Malwarebytes antimalware", and after that do an online scan at one of the sites- bitdefender(dot)com, eset(dot)com, Housecall(dot)Trendmicro(dot)c­om

if it is clean. Then I would say you can consider your computer to be reasonably safe. But unless you get it checked personally by an expert, I can't say you are 100% safe

i manually went through common files, and uninstalled the program, ran Ccleaner, ran spybot, and then scanned my computer with HIjackthis, and it showed no traces of PAV. i dont have any of the other process that were showed on this video, but i DO have winlogon.exe!! is PAV completely uninstalled from my PC??

Hey... after you find the file... do you click on it and open it?

Cause everytime I click on it, my computer says that an unknown program is trying to acess my computer and that I shouldn't open the file UNLESS i trust the program. Should I allow this program to acess my computer? Or will it cause more damage if I open it?

Download/ install a small tool from TrendSecure com, and run it , it will generate a log file, you can post the contents of the file here or mail it to support@comprolive com, after seeing the log, i can tell you the exact files and the steps to remove them
