this is really awesome! I just wish you played it straight through from beginning to end so I can get the transitions to sound right.. but thanks for the awesome vid! <3 Bon Iver <3
dude, cannot for the LIFE of me figure out the strum pattern...maybe it's super obvious and I'm not getting it because I'm just that dense but....a little help? :)
And yeah, the energy from that video is so raw! I just love it! :D
Oh, yeah, I've noticed that Justin is playing with a capo on the seventh fret, and the other guitarist is using no capo. Either way, thank you for your time and keep on rockin'! :)
@casparharvey I just play the standard D shape but leave the bottom note on the high E string off of the chord, and instead mute it by just letting my fingers forming the rest of the chord rest on it. I also play the open A string and pull my thumb around to mute the top E string. That combination gives it that more boroque sound. The tab would look like... X 3 2 0 0 X and then later on in the verses I play... X 3 2 0 X 2
By far the best instructional video I've seen on youtube. You're an excellent teacher. Any chance you could do a more in depth instruction on the strumming pattern? I just can't seem to get it for some reason.

@DetroitDregs in case you haven't figured it out already:
D D D U D U D D D U D U D D D U D U...it's the same throughout the song. at least thats what i got when i listened to the song (you can also tell the rhythm from listening to it. i'm a beginner and i picked up on it) . on the last up you change chords, but not on every one, obviously.
this keeps freezing at 1:56. damn i really wanna see the rest of this

Can someone tell me the tab for the D chord he plays? It doesn't look like the normal xx0232.
yotatchi7 1 week ago
@yotatchi7 it would be 2x023x, the thumb can wrap around or you can put your index finger up on the second fret.

Great Video. Just wondering what the basic strumming pattern your using is?

One of the best tutorials I have seen. You're brilliant.
I'm just a beginner and I actually understood everything. Unlike other tutorials. Thank you very much.

wat is the fingering for your D chord, cos it sounds much nicer than just the standard position?
