How do you like the x-station compared to ion? is it as powerful? cos it looks like a "powerful midi controller" synth, but i'm not sure if it's a good as a synth. Thanks.
Soundwise, ion has a rawer, fatter, detailed, subtler sound, with strong "body", great lows, more and better filters and a powerful modulation matrix, but no reverb or proper delay; x-station has a "thinner" sound and simpler sound architecture, but its a competent meat-and-potatoes synth, that shines with the effects, which are very versatile and easy to edit on the spot.
Controllerwise, x-station have aftertouch and a membrane trackpad (both nice and expressive, although the membrane needs a BIT of pressure), but lacks ion's (wonderful) endless encoders.
x-station is more of a jack-of-all-trades, fun synth, ion is more a purist's instrument, with greater semi-modular capabilities and refined sound.
Its a multimix 16 firewire (I recorded only the 2 master channels for this track).
It has onboard effects, which I use mainly for voice (when there is one). The effects do the job adequately, no high-end reverb of course, but they're very useful for some live gigs I play (with voice and acoustic instruments).
Yes, I find it has a very transparent sound, I've recorded voices several times, and they sound natural, unlike some other mixers. Noise is also low, and pre-amp gain is ample (in the mic channels).
The power supply gets a little too hot for my taste, maybe they have corrected that by now.
thank you :) I played with beats and sounds for maybe one hour, until a basic idea come. then, I started recording, and that's what you see here. first take. you can tell my act isn't quite yet together!
I already had a basic beat and bass line in the esx, done previously. the sounds in ion and x-station are both presets, slightly modified.
i like to watch people to have look what they got in their heads... and i really like what you´ve done there. so go on with this kind of music... and watch my videos. i also added you on myspace.

They're very different.

i really regret sold my ion for that frigging quasimidi sirius that never came. Great tunes and play here buddy, very catchy!

Thank you.
The Ion it's a nice machine, with a organic sound and vast capabilities.
I miss a longer delay, aftertouch and a few more pots, though!
