  • Oh STFU bill cullen we hear enough of ur Bull in the Apprentice.

  • This gentlement talks so much sense, it hurts.

  • this is bill cullen that failed to pay not once but twice ESB bills in killarney, therefore electricity was turned off...practice your own preach

  • He is right!!!

  • He might have a bit of a point but he just oozes self importance and I can't stand it

  • i hate 2 admit it

    BUT HE IS RIGHT

  • i was chatting to my little bro and hes friend who are 18,i informed them that there looking for lads for work in supermacs, bear in mind these 2 guys get the dole and still live at home with their mammy, they laughed at me,and said "wouldnt be caught dead working there".. i rest my case, bill cullen is 1000% right..fair play,my first job at 15 was rearing turf from 8 to 7 in the evening, anyone from ireland will tell u that is hard work.

  • what an asshole. say that to the thousands emigrating...

  • GOOD MAN Dr BILL! Great response to yer one who won't take a job coz it isn't worth her while UNBELIEVABLE! Then she rolls her friggin' eyes at BC -- she should be offering to get his coffee and polish his shoes. And this whole nonsense that the Government should be giving them a job or owe them a living... gov CAN'T create jobs! Priv sector creates jobs.Governent is a cost center that tax payers foot the bill for. Give Bill Cullen tax breaks and incentives and HE'LL give yer lazy arse a job...

  • Try telling the young people LEAVING IRELAND EVERY DAY, that MOST OF THE TRAVEL WAS PLAY!!!

  • Reminds me of the Four Yorkshiremen sketch by Monty Python :)

  • @ecureuil85 Incorrectly attributed to Monty Python, mind! And still not as good as the original version of the 'Four Yorkshiremen' sketch on 'At Last the 1948 Show'. /watch?v=-eDaSvRO9xA&feature=related

  • And that woman is off her horses. She's blaming the government for no jobs being made available to youngsters. Does she think they are going to come knowing on their doors offering them jobs? no! They have to go out and get em themselves. Theres plenty of jobs available. Its just the 'Molly coddled" youngsters as he says are too lazy to even look for them. He's dead right.

  • Is this the same Bill Cullen that that made a €18.6 million loss in 2007, and a further loss of €8.2 million in 2008 and Renault S.A.S ended up saving his Ass?

Is this the same Bill Cullen whos hotel ran loses of €9.4 million?

A monkey could have run these operations during the boom times. He just was lucky.

  • @oliver11649 Dont be talking rubbish He worked v hard. I am 21 and agree that the most of the Irish young people are lasy and and using the recession as a excuse not to work hard.

  • When I was a boy we lived in one room - twenty in one bed. We had no mattress or covers. We owned one plate and all ate off it, but we had no food. We got up so early it was yesterday. I walked from London to Scotland for water, with one cup which we all later drank from. My dad shovelled earth digging pits. He dug a hole bigger than what Wembley Stadium would fit into, every day. His entire wages for the year was enough to buy one slice of bread. I tell you, the youngsters have it easy today...

  • @EnglishChannel1 oh would ya just f** off

  • smoke weed everyday bill.

  • Bill is 100% correct

  • I was looking for the original host of "The Price is Right" TV show named Bill Cullen. I guess I came to the wrong place.

  • I think Bill is right and isn't egotistic, just portrayed as such. The man created his life, with the help molly Darcy and the family. This man had an amazing work ethic growing up, one which is VERY rare today

men and women like this don't just happen to fall into this kind of success!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they work the long hours, stay in the office till 1am on christmas eve, wake at 6am to get stuff done on their day off!! and they dont party every night, smoke and act the bollex

  • Bill has a point, but I am not sure he is in any position to be lecturing young graduates who began college with dreams and leave it in disarray.

This man sits on the DAA board that granted a performance related bonus of €106,000 to CEO Declan Collier, he has also contributed generously to Fianna Fáil in the past ten years.

Despite what his autobiography might say, Bill is merely an uneducated egotistic, who struck it lucky with the Renault deal.

  • @UCCRC88 I'd love to know what you think of Richard Branson? An uneducated man, with strong personality (which may come across to you as egotistic), who built Virgin, set up a consultation centre for young teens in England, achieved and accomplished more in the last 5 months than anyone here will prob accomplish in their life ha

    IRELAND STOP COMPLAINING FOR ONCE

  • this fella is a twat and i wudnt buy anything associated with him or listen to a word of his arrogant tripe

  • Being a 23 year old unemployed college graduate here in Ireland I am sad to say dat Bill is right. A penny earned is better than a penny lost and every challenge is an opportunity, I suppose i'd better start listening to that... but then again if im getting paid for doing nothing am i really going to work.

  • Where's North from here?

  • Is he the fifth Yorkshire man?

  • bill puts it simple tough love is what we need, bill gets the work done hard work always win,

  • Bill has such a chip on his shoulder. Must have had to many burdocks in the old hard days. Bill you sound like my granny, going on about the hard times.... Get real, its a different world out there, and your so called business of flogging car's, well thats on the way out also, just like you are my friend.....

  • @Ianjcarroll youre such a hypocrit. you and others here complain about bill talking about hard times yet what the hell are you doing yourself? that show was about the current hard times. youre just negative fools that live to complain

  • @Ianjcarroll id love to know what you do?

  • Bill is deadly!

  • bill cullen annoys me he is full of self richous rubish and his i had to earn everything rubish hard done by riddels be quiet bill stop selling your rubish talk

  • During 2011, a net 50,000 people emigrated from Ireland, a level last seen in the eighties and fifties.Speaks for itself.Bill can stick with Fianna Failed.

  • The way yer wan talks is like the government is skeletor from He-man.

  • Bill Cullen is making a lot of sense here and most of you morons dont like the truth...hiding behind your Mammys and Daddys...go get some guts along with some work while you are at it...Im delighted the recession has called a halt to the direction this country was going....the partys over

  • "The ONE thing that young people don't have comin' outta college today is the people skills and the working (something, sorry, couldn't make it out)".

Nice display of Bill's lack of mathematial and grammatical skills there...

  • I'd like to say something here. Bill has in fact got his ''theory'' upside down. As a teacher in secondary school, I see the result of this thinking every day.

Bill accesses and projects the Catholic guilt trip that he clearly was subjected to growing up. And because he is angry about it, subconsciously, he can't wait to project it onto a generation that were free of it. He is, essentially, in denial about his own upbringing.

Abd Bill, I was working fulltime when I was fourteen.

    Grow up.

  • This guy is a buffoon! Embarassing to think he represents private industry interests in the media!

  • Good man bill, about time someone gave them a wake up call! What's the deal about people saying they're going to emigrate saying "oh theres no jobs here" blah blah blah. Was on the bus this morning listening to two gobshite students portraying Australia as some sort of paradise with a job handed to them when the arrive XD

  • Him and his penny apples. I hope he fall's off his high horse. You're not helping Bill.

  • @001Dixie

Are Mommy and Daddy to blame perhaps in some small way? Do your research before you spout off. Your environment as a child influences your working habits in later life. If you come from a disadvantaged area you may receive a poor education. Your parents may both be forced to work long hours to survive. All of these things shape you. If your parents can't find a way to instill morals and motivation in you as a child it's very hard to pick it up later. Read on the subject.

  • fair play to the chap who tells him to shut up at 1.31

  • All Bill thinks about is profit profit profit for himself. This man hires a person at the cost of at least 100,000 euro a year and lets go some of his staff in his car dealers at the same time just before christmas this man wants people to work more hours for less pay and buy things they dont really need and be a good cunsumer even if you dont have the money dont worry get a loan of money and buy his brand new cars but Bill doesnt understand by pay cuts it cuts peoples buying power

  • He's damn right. This country needs to grow up and take responsibility. We are a country now famous for our greed, corruption, drunkeness, and paedophilia..... and nobody's to blame,.. The people fingerpoint the government and the government fingerpoints the opposition and changing circumstances. Anyone can achieve anything, if they take responsibility. WE are to blame. Stop making excuses

  • Bill Cullen is been molycoddled by the state through car scrappage schemes that have no bearing on the economy not one of these cars are manufactured here. He is a bleedin joke.

  • Bill is not part of what's called "free trade". His businesses rely very heavily on state funding.

  • go to bed bill or you,ill never get up ar 4.30, or is it more like 10.30

  • I always tought he was a fool but bill you are 100% right. and there are employment ops out there

  • He's far too up his own arse.... Ya cant make sweeping statements like that, thats ridiculous.

  • Yeah Got2soNge, he may have a lot of money but its not easy for him to say that because he had a horrible childhood. His sisters dying because they couldnt afford to get them the help they needed. The poor guy lived in a tiny room with too many people who were all crammed into the house. This man has seen hardship and for you to say that its Easy for him to say that? Its bloody easy for you to say that!

  • Lmao it's grand for bill to say this with Millions in the bank

  • @GoT2SpoNgE Which he earned you thick.

  • How does Bill Cullen keep refering to his "industry" given no cars are produced in Ireland?

  • It is true that people don't realise how lucky they are! I have friends from Latin America - I kow who lucky we are. People moan about getting the dole which is one of th ehighest in the world.

On the other hand, this paternalistic gobshite is the type of gobeen that brought Ireland into this situation in the first place.

He should also learn to pronounce the ends of his words, wha? This is not Andalucia/

  • Easy words for a man with millions in the bank to say.

  • And What about morgages? Its all very well saying we cant work for nothing but there arnt any jobs like? The option isnt between work for pay or work for experience. The option is you can either sit at home and do nothing but get depressed about the current lack of jobs which is totally understandable OR you can use this opertunity to better yourself as a person and your skills because its those people who are going somewhere in life, the ones who take what life throws at them.

  • fair play to bill cullen,he came from working class and made himself successful through hard work and street smarts.schools dont teach life experience,if you want something in life go for it 100%..no excuses.

  • yes bill work for nothing, its grand back in your youth when everyone had nothing, what about car loans and morgages. bull shitting prick

  • bill has achieved great things and deservededly so because of his hard work and risk taking something which is missing from certain 'spoiled' young people today..you can't blame all your problems on the govt

  • How do you pay mortgage/rent, clothing, food etc, while working in europe's most expensive country.Sponge off mammy and daddy?.The proportion of Irish adults who live with their parents is a joke.Hope Cullen's cheesy hotels go down the tube.

  • Well said Bill - I am a young person and I believe that far too many people of my age going aroung with a notion of one , that the world owes you a living. The are extremely lazy , they have qualifications but no education. Well said Bill , well said . This is a soft generation of Irish people they blame everyone the government the "system" and will not help themselves - demanding handouts > How can these people callthemselves Irish .

  • @sharpendintothedark yeah I fully agree with you, I have graduated with a Msc from university just recently and I cant find work but I fully agree with what Bill Cullen says here. If I had more drive about me I would make things happen, I could at least try a lot of difficult options to get out there and make my own money. €196 a week is far too much money for the government to give me and Im ashamed to say that it actually makes me lazy about earning my own money.

  • Bill has had to work hard for what he has got now and when you put in the hard work in you get results.. Its now time for the youth of Ireland to toughen up and work hard for a change maybe then they too will get some results!

  • @agz80 Bill and Simi went to state with their hands out and got the car-scrappage scheme!! They now want that scrappage scheme extended. I don't doubt Mr Cullen's work ethic but it would be worthwhile to get some perspective.

  • There is an old saying the worst kind of rich man the rich man who was once poor it is businessmen like bill cullen that got this country into the mess we are in

  • I am only 18 myself but I back Bill Cullen 100%. He makes complete sense! y generation think they are entitled to everything! And no we don't know what tough times are like. We may be going through a bad time in Ireland now but my parents who had to move to Africa in the 80s had a much harder time in their youth than my generation ever will.

Kids of today need to cop on and grow up. Not everything will be ready on a silver platter for the

  • I have realised that Bill is absolutly 100 percent right

  • sound sound... so Bill is basically telling me to do some voluntary work when I graduate. I know that is what I will have to do and I am quite willing to do it.. BUT while there are compassionate people out there willing to work for nothing the government can sit back and exploit the situation. The politicians get the high salaries and go on their junkets while we can quietly do our bit for the community free of charge or emigrate to find paid work

  • This is great entertainment . Do you have the ryan confidential interview ?? I was volcanoed in Italy thursday last ! Id love to see it .

  • We used to sleep all 27 of of us in shoe box in the middle T road,we had to get up before we went to bed, lick the road clean,go T mill and work for 27 hrs,and pay Mill owner for t prevelige, and when we got home our dad would slice in two with a broken bottle,If we were lucky !! Try telling young ppl that today and they wont believe you !.

  • @ABE4evr hahahahhaahhahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!

  • Bill is so right I am these young people, they would want to start by going and reading Bill book "a long way from penny apples" and then come back and talk about hard work

  • Bill's absolutely right. Now I'm off to sell penny apples on the ha'penny bridge in my bare feet.

  • i l ike being lazy to be hinest, dont see whats so bad about it, dosnt harm anyone

  • I have to agree with bill, im 27 and i also see people my own age moan and moan about what other people should do for them, its good for me though cause its not as hard to get ahead with so many lazy people about.

  • is even the rte youtube channell censored?

  • Bill grew up underprivilaged. He is a great success, fair play to him. BUT his success and determination was combined with a stroke of luck. He needs to realise this. There are plenty of people with his ability and determination and "work ethic" out there. He wouldn't have amounted to much more than the rest of us if he was starting out in 2010...not in Ireland anyway.

  • The biggest social welfare fraud in ireland is done by the megga rich bankers who claim billions in welfare after having robbed their own companies. Not to mention the incompetent Politicians and civil servants who claim huge payments from the state. The unemployed are just being used as a scapegoat.Who caused them to loose their jobs?? Bill of course is out of touch with reality poor fella. The real agenda is to push the middle and working class down to the level of slaves. CORRUPTION

  • @mountnot your forgetting Ireland pre-celtic tiger there was a massive depression in the 70's and 80's and he made a success of it , stop begrudging people make their own luck

  • Isn't Bill Cullen marvellous! He says that the Youth of Ireland are "molly-coddled"... What does he call the Car-Scrappage scheme?!?

What a charlatan! And nobody points out the hypocracy of what he says!

WAKE UP IRELAND!! WE SHOULD BE MARCHING ON THE STREETS IN PROTEST AT THE STATE OF OUR COUNTRY!!!

  • Great point Mrfunky not to mention the 1000s of perfectly good cars going to be scrapped when people have no money and then they talk about carbon tax etc. Poor bill is only interested in lining his own pockets like all of them. The establishment uses him of course as a role model with a working class accent , the accent is all thats working class about him.

  • Bill will be lynched for his comments!

  • This guy is a Dinosaur living back in 1950's Ireland. His comments about Michael O'Leary at the weekend, proves that he hasn't a clue. So many of my friends are extremely hard working and cannot get work and are highly indebted. How dare he make a sweeping statement that our generation are lazy...

  • Well done bill, I was thinking the same thing last august.

  • Who would want to work for this sponger?.Work for nothing when you can fill your trolley in Dunnes for free!.If Bill was born 50 years earlier, he would of been cleaning chimneys when he was 7!.

  • i agree some parts of billls statement... not all

  • Well said Bill, at last someone with the balls to deliver the truth.

  • @Nautilus1972 This is not a blip, I was born in the 1950's, this is not about " tough times" the foundation of the free market and globailisation are falling apart.

    Wee need an alternative

  • "were challenging you with issues that you have to stand up and take on"

Well guess what Bill , I got up at four in the morning , I know what tought times are. I and my family know what tough t imes are and were.

We should, according to you, strive to continue and mantain an tolerate the events of the past 2 years. These events tell me that something is seriously wrong in our society. it is you who needs to be challenged with issues , and you need to take them on. you and your lousy system

  • I agree with you

  • I am by no means a fan of Bill Cullen but I do think he made some valid points, the next generation are spoilt brats who were spoon feed for the last 15 years, the country owes these people nothing, take the architect for instance, so youre an architect with over 70% unemployment in the sector, tough, improvise and look for work in another sector, work in a shop, shovel manure, do whatever it takes to ride out the storm but for gods sake stop moaning and self-loathing about the situation.

  • Staying in bed is actually class Bill, get your facts straight.

  • @hflashman ha ha ha ha fuckin' brilliant!I needed that..........

  • Bill hates graduates, he hates them. If you've a degree, he has nothing but contempt for you: "education is theory", education is more than that. I'm sick of hearing about his 'hardship', get over it, that was then and this is now, you'd swear he was the only one that had hardship. What's funny is, he praised the car scrappage scheme which essentially is tax payers money keeping his industry afloat and then he had the brass to give out about young people needing some help from the state?

  • i've just tried to follow up on this vid but it's like a maze in rte land

    jeez i'm not harry potter

  • @elsiglo Bill is class, he is saying have a good attitude, make your own decisions, make things happen for yourself, head down, work hard,try,try,try.. ive never seen such a sorry bunch of miserable moany youth of today whod rather complain bitterly about tough times than just living life to the fullest.Oh their brainwashed into thinking life has that route of Job-Marriage-Kids-Mortage-Safety-Comfort-Normality

  • @dior096 actually that is what young people are trying to avoid.

  • @dior096 So he think that what's wrong with the country is that not enough doors are being knocked on? He goes about the youth of today, as if the older generation had nothing to do with it. No mun, no fun! In Bill's day, you didn't need two incomes to support a household.

  • @elsiglo I think Bill is out of touch with today's youth. He's very much of a different generation.

  • @elsiglo look he was right education is no use if it's not put to practical use also alan sugar said the very same thing! and your remark that he hates graduates is appalling considering how many graduates he has employed?

  • Shame on Bill Cullen- talking about people waiting for the state to help them- what did he do only rely on the state to bail the car industry out. Why does RTE gove this right winger so much air time for self promotion. Well done to that woman and that young councillor from Ballybrack speaking up for young people and disadvantaged communities.

  • I have been trying to get experience, but companies that advertise jobs don't even respond to me. It's a joke. Companies wont hire you unless you have experience, but how can we get experience when they wont hire you.

  • Bill wants us to get experience, and experience is definitely what I need, but I have been trying to do that for the last year. I have been sending CV after CV and the companies don't have the decency to reply to you or acknowledge receipt of your CV, and these are the companies who advertise the jobs in the 1st place. I feel like I may as well be giving my CV to my dog with the hope it will reach its destination.

  • I agree with Bill. So true. The state of some of the audience members. Lip piercings, eyebrow piercings. They could have made an effort to clean up knowing they'd be on National TV. Lazy looking grunge bags.

  • that woman is moaning too much. Bill is right in saying we shouldn't blame anyone for our situation no matter how right we are for blaming them, this is like passing responsibility to somebody else. Woman! listen to a successful person who knows what he's saying and not your fingerpoint attitude! If you blame someone for your situation, you're giving them the power to control you instead of taking responsibility for yourself! Government wont change! politics wont change! employers wont! its u!

  • Im a yg man who is currently unemployed, I gota say tht even tho it is very difficult out there 2day getting work nd experience, I found tht Mr. Cullen did speak the truth. There was so much bull and complaining by alot people all night, but Bill said it how it was. I do feel tht as a generation we have been mollycoddled. Bill was the only 1 last nite who reli inspired the youth of this country to get up and get out and @ um fighting all the way. Good man Bill.

  • It's near impossible to find a job! There's no jobs going what do they expect from us!

  • How many factories have you applied to ? How many shops have you asked at ? I don't see any Irish people working in shops any more - there's plenty of jobs out there, and if there isn't, make one.

  • @Nautilus1972 "I don't see any Irish people working in shops any more"

No, but you see a lot of underpaid foreign workers, funny that.

  • go bill, he's a bit of a buffoon though.

  • he's such a twat...what does he expect people to go and work at,their are no jobs end of story.

people are in highly in debt compared to years ago when Bill is talking about.

cop on bill.....we are living in the present, not the past.

  • I agree

  • This man is so far out of touch, and a fantasist.

I believe in a decent days pay for a decent days work. Full stop.
