@77magenta Lol...seriously man? Come on, she's showing how those toilet training products actually work. She only had the cat for six weeks and got it toilet trained. That's very impressive.
Can't say I'd be a fan of seeing a foreign turd in my toilet though. A courtesy flush would be nice.
Didnt even notice the link so thanks and I shall have a read.
Hopefully all goes well as ive seen a few videos of the litter training being successful so hopefull im just as successful. Ive got the litter kwitter system which seems to be the best one at the moment so I shall give it a try (Y)
@simonepreston20 You are welcome :) I hope you are succsessfull too, the key is to be patient and don't rush anything. The LK is a good method, but you might need to make some adjustments with cardboard/ cutting board or buy the intermediate trays so the changes from stage to stage are not so big as in the original kit. I would also recommend something called the mock toilet method, a homemade training version that I might consider the next time around (If I get another cat)
@simonepreston20 Thank you so much, i'm very happy with him :) I would advice you to read as much as you can about toilet training, I just put a link under the video of my blog, I have some toilet training info there and will come with more info soon. Remember to take the training slow and only make changes in the weekends when you can be at home to monitor your kitten ;)
I have a 2 year old Bengal, she is graceful in anyway. I also have a 2 year old torttie and 5 month old mix. I would LOVE to be able to get them to do this, how do I begin? How long has it taken your cats to catch on?!
@jls0217 Hi, my bengal was a fast learner and was trained in 7 weeks, but my two birmans were trained in 10 months. Training multiple cats usually takes more time than one, but it all depends on the personality of the cats and your knowledge about toilet training. I'm sure they would have been trained faster if I knew more in the beginning. If you visit the Litter Kwitter forum (Google it) you can learn alot. Check out the thread in the forum called: "Stories and threads beginners should read";)
Amazing your cat learned so quick but obviously a kitten and not having to break him of old litter habit. Just a thought you might want to consider. Dr. Oz was talking about how much fecal matter travels through the air 10 feet and get's all over everything...this could be contributing to your other cat's doing their businessness where you don't want so try closing the toilet when flushing. Another hassle never thought about too!
@chellamia Yes, I was amazed aswell :D I do agree that kittens may be easier to train than older cats, but not always. My other two were also kittens and alot harder to train...I have heard of a cat that was very old (18 I think) that was trained very quickly...(But unfortunatly died a few months after finishing the training). I think it's more about the personality of the cat...I have never thought about closing the lid, but good idea!!!
Wow.beautiful cat but sure is a lot of poop! Is that the normal amount of poop for a cat as i would be glad if my cat would do 1/4 of that everyday. he is 12 and I have to give him something everday...like mineral oil and/or lactolose/ and always this herbal from Pet Well Being and he has something called Mega colon...i guess that means a slow moving colon....I want to ask you something about the cat's scratching the litter...go look on the forum please...Do they need a scratch post?
@chellamia Thank you :) My other two cats do not poop as much as Miro so don't worry about your cat not pooping that much, I have no idea why he is like that...Maybe because he has a big appetite or something, he also pee very often - the others not as often as him...(But he loves to get treats for using the toilet...) If your cat is constipated try changing the food. It really helped my other cat Yedi to change to Royal Canin intense hairball because it contains psyllium..
I watched some of his other videos. Your cats are very pretty and look like a lot of fun. I 'm toilet training 2 cats. My 1st, CoCoBean who you saw in the video was pretty much trained when I got Alley Cat, but he was never really happy or completely reliable without a few traces of litter to attract him to the Toilet. So now he is happy that he gets to use Alley Cat's set up. Seems like a common issue with some cats. Maybe someday he'll be able to give up the litter completely but ok for now.
@stnr222 Thank you, your cat is beautiful too!!! Sad to hear that he never was happy or reliable to use the toilet, hope it will be better the second time around. I don't trust my cats yet and I am going on vacation in about two weeks time for 5 days so I hope there will not be too many accidents. I have never been away from them for more than a day so far so I don't know how they will handle that and I don't think my brother will be able to see when the cats need to go...
@DisobedientChild85 I'm back from my vacation and my cats did pretty good with the toilet. Only two accidents because they left clothes on the floor in the bathroom...I never do that because I know it's too tempting for them right now...My brother should know because he has a cat that is not allowed in the bathroom(not toilet trained cat, she only use the litter) because she always pee on his clothes...I guess it's not only our cats that has accidents some times ;)
Who knew a cat could "do" that much!!! WOW! He's doing amazing though for only 6 weeks of Toilet Training! Are your other cats trained too? He's very pretty too! What's his name?
@stnr222 I know, it's extreme ;) Yes, he is doing very good...But the first month he was awful, going everywhere in the apartement, but one day he suddely got it and he has not have any more problems after that. He could easily use only the toilet seat without any rings a short time after this video, but since I'm training three cats and you have to go at the pace of the slowest learner they are not there yet. We are now at the white stage (White LK seat, no rings, but a tiny 1 cm edge)No litter
@stnr222 By the way, his name is Miro :) He is very cute and he has a very good temper...I have some more videos of my cats in my channel if you are interested.
@pharao707 I know, I think it is because he eats alot more than the other cat's although he is so small :p The first time he did #2 I was schocked that it was so much, in this video it may be half ot that ;)
@89hotshot I bought the "LITTER KWITTER" system. It is a white seat you can put on youre toilet and in the middle you start with a red disk that you can put cat litter in, first you put it on the floor and later the toilet. When the cat is used to it, change the disk in the middle with an amber disk with a hole in it so it can get used to the water and the hole. When you are finished with that step you are at the green stage as you can see in my video:)
Do cats hate it when they drop a turd and the toilet water splashes them on the butt as much as humans do? Just sayin'
elophan10538 1 week ago
Would your cat drink out of the toilet with his own turd / urine there? That's my only concern.
