Union Pacific RR, 240 US 1 and said that amendment contains nothing repudiating or challenging the Ruling in the Pollack case.
Let me just go through this as quickly as possible and give all my fellow Americans some court cases they can find out for their selves. The first is Pollack v. Farmer's Loan & Trust Company in 1895 by the Supreme Court Ruled that the 1894 Income Tax Unconstitutional.
I hate to tell you but he does not have to repeel the 16th, because the 16th amendment did not give the Government any new taxing authority. In that case if they didn't have it to start with they don't have now.

A free market without federal regulation would insure that the one with the most money controls the market. If they don't like their competition they will simply buy it.
In a free market, the one who best supplies the consumer's perceived need for value (quality and price) makes the sale. One vendor usually does not dominate because individual preferrences differ. In a free market, inferior goods and services are shunned. There is a flight to value. This may be hard to understand since we have never experienced such and economy.

Unethical politicians can be stopped. Stop reelecting the bribe takers. Work for and financially support honest candidates. The Ron Paul Meetup group is a good way to identify likeminded people who might be convinced to run. You know, start a revolution!

My other Question to Ron Paul would be about the FDA and drug companies. Currently we rely on the drug manufacturers to test their own products and 10 years after the drug is on the market we find out some of these drugs cause cancer or have other severe side effects. How can we safely test the products on an unbiased level while decreasing a department which isn't effective and corrupt already.
My Question to Ron Paul would then be, how are we going to increase jobs in America and promote factories to move back to America? How can US Factories compete fairly with Factories run by slave labor in China and Mexico?

ok on Ron Paul's website he has a video addressing the income tax. He says by decreasing the size of the federal government you can successfully do away with the income tax without imposing a new tax. This would be great but wouldn't that put many federal employees out of jobs?

bt071971, you missed 'supporting production'. There will be a need for support in producing companies for clerical, administration, accounting, engineering, marketing, sales, etc. The lawyers may need to retrain for productive work.

Depends what you tax. Could give the poor a huge benefit if you only tax certain things. Would be amazing if the taxes were almost 0 for anyone on the bottom. It would also give advantage to save and start a business if you were frugal. Hard to say though, but he is fairly well read with economics.
Right now middle class America pays roughly an 8% income tax and a 7% sales tax. If we abolish the federal income tax that would increase the sales tax to 15% not including those States with State Income Tax.

Dr. Paul has not endorsed the national sales tax although he has stated that he would probably vote for it. The NST aka "fair tax" is a substitute to permit continued big spending. His proposal is to cut spending equal to income tax collections.

I hope Ron Paul will increases tariffs on imported goods to replace the income tax... people will have to pay more for those goods from China, but in the end it will bring factories back to America. That way I wont miss the Earned Income Credit I get every year for my kids.
He would most certainly not increase tariffs, that is not a free market practice. I know this sounds bad for Americans, but the other regulations he would cut would make it much easier for our businesses here to compete with China. Awesome. California is usually a "blue" state but this election our votes will go to Ron Paul, I have no doubt about it. We're currently the 2nd largest contributor in donations, and will mostly continue to be so. I love my state. I hate to tell you but he does not have to repeel the 16th, because the 16th amendment did not give the Government any new taxing authority. In that case if they didn't have it to start with they don't have now.

Problem is, it's very difficult to overcome the perception on the part of the masses that it DID give them new powers. RP proposes to simply forget fighting that perception and go to the root of the issue: the philosophic malfunction which results in people thinking that a tax on everyone's earnings is a legitimate idea.
Once that is fixed, the laws and their enforcement will follow suit. Eyes on the prize, my friend.

I agree, but again, politics is perception, and that's what we have to change. Being right is dangerous when the government *and* the masses are wrong. When you get the masses (or a potent minority of them amidst a sea of apathetic sloths) on board, things get a lot easier.

Have you not noticed all the shootings since the Dems were allowed to take over the houses? Seriously. No doubt that was an agreement with the elite controllers. You can get into office but you must adhere to the gameplan. Increased shootings, leading to a ban of personal arms by the populace. It will occur within the next 18 months I can almost guarantee it.

many of the federal departments in America are corrupted now, however when they were formed they were formed for pretty good reasons. A free market without federal regulation would insure that the one with the most money controls the market. If they don't like their competition they will simply buy it.

In a free market, the one who best supplies the consumer's perceived need for value (quality and price) makes the sale. One vendor usually does not dominate because individual preferrences differ. In a free market, inferior goods and services are shunned. There is a flight to value. This may be hard to understand since we have never experienced such and economy.

How can we insure in the future the freedom of the press. Even the internet companies which are becoming mainstream media are being bought up by these huge corporations and controlled by their editors.

My other Question to Ron Paul would be about the FDA and drug companies. Currently we rely on the drug manufacturers to test their own products and 10 years after the drug is on the market we find out some of these drugs cause cancer or have other severe side effects. How can we safely test the products on an unbiased level while decreasing a department which isn't effective and corrupt already.

ok on Ron Paul's website he has a video addressing the income tax. He says by decreasing the size of the federal government you can successfully do away with the income tax without imposing a new tax. This would be great but wouldn't that put many federal employees out of jobs?

bt071971, Good question. Consider this, the unproductive federal employees would then be able to have productive jobs producing high quality products or supporting production. Excess production would be exported. Without the repressive overhead of draconian taxation and regulation, we would have a definite price advantage. After an initial transition period, unprecedented prosperty would ensue.

bt071971, you missed 'supporting production'. There will be a need for support in producing companies for clerical, administration, accounting, engineering, marketing, sales, etc. The lawyers may need to retrain for productive work.

This poll includes Gilmore (dropped out), Fred Thompson (hasn't announced), Newt Gingrich (hasn't announced), Chuck Hagel (hasn't announced), John McCain (less money on hand than Ron Paul), Brownback, Tommy Thompson, and Duncan Hunter (these last 3 combined have raised less than Dr. Paul).

Ron Paul mentions increasing sales taxes and abolishing income taxes. Isn't a sales tax a personal tax? I would think you would end up paying a ton more in taxes because you will not be entitled to any deductions or EIC. Will our poor get sales tax breaks?

Depends what you tax. Could give the poor a huge benefit if you only tax certain things. Would be amazing if the taxes were almost 0 for anyone on the bottom. It would also give advantage to save and start a business if you were frugal. Hard to say though, but he is fairly well read with economics.

Right now middle class America pays roughly an 8% income tax and a 7% sales tax. If we abolish the federal income tax that would increase the sales tax to 15% not including those States with State Income Tax.

Dr. Paul has not endorsed the national sales tax although he has stated that he would probably vote for it. The NST aka "fair tax" is a substitute to permit continued big spending. His proposal is to cut spending equal to income tax collections.

I hope Ron Paul will increases tariffs on imported goods to replace the income tax... people will have to pay more for those goods from China, but in the end it will bring factories back to America. That way I wont miss the Earned Income Credit I get every year for my kids.

He would most certainly not increase tariffs, that is not a free market practice. I know this sounds bad for Americans, but the other regulations he would cut would make it much easier for our businesses here to compete with China. The way the system is setup right now, the poor and middle class are just getting screwed.

I know Ron Paul mentioned raising the sales tax but do we really want to pay lets say 14% on all items purchased? We will still be paying the same amount of taxes if they tax us on our purchases instead of our income. increasing tariffs will definitely bring the jobs back to America.

thats why our auto manufacturers in Detroit left... they can't compete with the slave labor in Mexico where the factories left after the free trade agreement in which no North American gained any benefit from. All it did was allow them to manufacture cheap and ship to USA for free.

I live in Florida where there is no State tax, but if the states decide to do the same and have a state sales tax, on top of the county sales tax, and a federal sales tax to boot... your looking at a 20% sales tax on items purchased. (rough estimate)

Awesome. California is usually a "blue" state but this election our votes will go to Ron Paul, I have no doubt about it. We're currently the 2nd largest contributor in donations, and will mostly continue to be so. I love my state. Ron Paul needs to stress anti-shamnesty, education, monetary policies etc. and maybe get celebrities on board, then I believe a lot of other states will start supporting him more.
