  • 5 people don't know their ass from a hole in the ground

  • The "Hotel" referred to in the lyrics of this rock classic...remind me not of an actual hotel...rather the cold cell @ the county jail....no room service there either! nor a pina colada

  • He did new and original things with slide!

  • I saw Feat at a jazz club with tables and drinks and all. At the end Lowell says, "you can dance if you want to!!" and everybody got up and the tables and drinks were frlying. the manager was freaking out.. greatest feat concert I ever saw.

  • if the deaf dumb and blind want to confront you with your YouTube content they have to type whatever you want them to type

  • It's freezin' cold (lol)

  • gotta love the Craftsman socket for a slide nice work thanks for posting

  • This is an awesome recording. At the end the band is going into the intro for Dixie Chicken, but I cannot find the whole of the song at this show. Really would like to hear it.

  • f*** me how come Bill Payne is so THIN?

  • @uberkernow Might have something to do with boat loads of cocaine.

  • I think I am the only person who views this from England. And even at 16, I can appreciate the magic of Lowell's slide at 4:10 onwards. They were such a slick band with a beautiful sound. Definitely the most underrated band of all time.

  • thank god they were all almost always possibly off their faces most of the time probably that's what almost certainly made them so good

  • was there shome shexy fun that afternoon....?!

  • I got to see them in 2004, and then we got to eat and meet with the band, it was a surreal experience, some of my biggest musical heroes, and here i am shaking hands with them and sharing fucking shrimp cocktails. a dream come true; to say the least. and i'm certainly glad i got to see Richie Hayward and meet him before his untimely death somewhat recently. may he rest in peace. Feats Forever! hoy hoy hoy

  • Spirit were my favorite US band in the 60's. Little Feat in the 70's. On 'feats don't fail me now', they did this with 'Tripe Face Boogie'. Amazing!

  • Just amazing!! Loved the Feat since 72...........saw them twice.............Lowell is the MAN!!

    Dreamcommander1

  • Lowell knocked me out the first time I heard him...and then he got better. I grew to appreciate the excellence of the rest of the band after a few albums but Lowell was special. I wish they'd stopped using "Little Feat" when he died.

  • banging it out to 5,000 stoned Dutch people from up above ......ya gotta feel for them....

  • I LOVED the conversation between the piano and guitar. It was just too short.

  • Holy shit Richard rock the fuck out of that kit. that guy plays with taste and flavor so well.

  • @bellsonrich Sorry to say, you mean "played". He passed away.

  • @Sincopare You bastard, your right, but that still dont mean he wasnt ever not hot shit. ya dig what im saying man? plus I heard he died waiting for a liver the poor fuck...i hate waiting. RIP. Richie.

  • he's hot! What a looker!

  • Notice how lowell uses a craftsman deep well socket as a slide. ONLY lowell george could make that slide sound that good.get well richie!!!

  • @96phjams04 ..I was wandering, what kind of health problem has Ritchie been going thru?

  • @fistchips Ritchie died of liver cancer. About a month ago.

  • @uniplmr1 ..sad news..I really liked his style of Drumming..

  • @fistchips .....yeah, he was too much.

  • waitin' for Doc Watson to take the stage in a little coffee shop in Chicago they dropped the needle on Cold, Cold, Cold. A brand new release. I've been a nut for Little Feat ever since. Thanks for the memories!

  • I saw The feat with Lowell at Millersville State collage in Pa. I think In 77 or 78 The best show I ever did see. Very small gym. It was tradgic when I was passing through Richmond after work and was going to see Lowell solo. On the way, I found out he died In Crystal City. Geniuses have a hard time...I wonder why?

  • I've listened to little feat for, what, 35 years and I had no idea that Lowell played slide, very, very well.

  • A remarkable line-up of all-star musicians that demonstrate such great balance between each other...it's unparallel to any other band I've ever heard or seen. Thank you for posting this!

  • I am truly blown away by this video, I can't stop playing it. Lowell George left us to soon. Thankfully Little Feat still plays today. I won't ever miss a chance to see them...my personal favorite live band ever, just edging out Colonel Bruce & ARU, Allman Bros. and Leftover Salmon. I have seen them all, it gets no better for me!!

  • 1;08 he says cocaine please instead of coconut

  • i luv this video thx alot.

  • It's not cocaine please, it's coconut.

  • @WAHMBAWM he changed it here from coconut to cocaine. Too bad he was such a druggy- threw himself away.

  • @gatorcarter he was doing fine untill the speedballs. That not so glorious mixture of coke and heroin has taken too many wonderfull musicians,,, and comedians for that matter.

  • @DClynch yeah wtf, speedballs are fucking dumb. the whole reason your doing one or the other is to be up or down. doing both seems redundant and bad chemistry.

  • " a peach, or a pear, or some cocaine please".....

    pretty much says it all

  • Thank you, Blessings.

  • Loved them in the 70thies, love them still.

Lowell is among the greatest, with Dylan, Bloomfield, Hendrix, ....

  • yeah, freakin awesome! cold blooded. and effin up the rhythm section....cold blooded brother....

  • Freaking awesome !

  • Lowell was the man.

  • been a feat fan for over 30 years. Lowell and Billy Payne were soo great together.

  • what a solo .....lowell takes.

  • BEST band EVER!

  • oh my god: the muscle and the music.....

  • I used to listen to Little Feat in the 70's, and they were one of ma favorite bands of all time, time will tell, and this band will shine in the future as one of the all time best bands in rock, wait and see, Wynn ^5 peace

  • 4:15 To 5:02

  • Mean slide guitar on this one@!

  • I hear this song in my head often. A wonderful performance.

  • dam fine if u ask me

  • Good gawdawmighty. They are in the effin POCKET on this!

This is EXACTLY what this band was all about. Right here!

    And right on!

    Woof!

  • making out his obituary before his death..he died in a hotel..so yea it was cold. sad , i liked him

  • One of my favorite bands in the 70's. I saw some great shows including the Bottom Line and a midnight show at the Beacon Theatre in New york (the police had to be called in to break up that show). The Grateful Dead and Little Feat are my fondest concert memories of the 70's. Great time.

  • That's the way of playing slide I like so very much.

His death was a real tragedy for all slide - lovers. This band turnes me on and it gives me a shower seeing lowell playing this beautiful slidesolo. - Great Stuff !!!

  • Little feat greatest groove band of all time

  • Lowell George could do no wrong in my book!

My favorite band of all time

  • @teeswaran Except die too young ! !

  • @teeswaran I hear ya..he is an artist of the purest form....I cried all day and night when he died....took drunk (haha) on Southern Comfort...and sang my a-- off.....I stole as much as I could manage from Lowell.... Love to you, and thanks for keeping his music alive .....My favorite band of all time, as well....

  • You r SO right!!!!

    TheEntopyEpoch...

    NO Litt;le Feat... No HOF

Figyres my favorite band of all time

  • For me there is no Rock and Roll Hall of Fame until Little Feat gets inducted. But don't count on it. Those queer boy Yankee HOF voters only like bands that play out of tune guitars and sing about heroin.

  • if Lowell didnt die, things would be WAY different.

  • Well, yeah. But every incarnation of the Feats has been a winner and they've kept that funky, loose groove that Lowell brought to R&R. Nobody jams like these guys (maybe early Allman Bros.)

  • Allman Brothers cannot even come close to the groove Lowell and his band put forth. Very unfortunate loss when he left us

  • Allman Brothers cannot even come close to the groove Lowell and his band put forth. Very unfortunate loss when he left us. So many excellent songs that had that that funky groove but was R&R unmistakeably.

  • Feats don't stand a prayer; it took the Ventures 20+ years...

  • Lowell George's white over-alls are ALREADY in the R&R Hall!

  • This is from 76 in Amsterdam. This whole set is incredible. The Band was obviously enjoying the best/worst of what Amsterdam had to offer. I will send this out to the first three who contact me.

  • send it to me?

  • Where was this concert? The cowboy hat does not suit Lowell very well. One of my favorite bands.

  • Drummer Hayward was such a vital element to their groove. He doesn't look it, but he's always rock solid in time while filling away.

  • wait, isn't a drummer supposed to do that anyway?...

  • Heck no. So many famous rock drummers were terrible *time* keepers. Carl Palmer and John Bonham are two which come to mind immediately.

  • hes a real one off -geddit ?

  • don't know what this means?

  • yes, but Richie is a VERY special drummer, with an ability to grove and fill while keeing impeccable time.

  • vanilla grits, his voice?

  • Texacana desert , I reckon .

  • no, imaginary discription of his voice, I read this comparison somewhere, stuck with me and seems to fit

  • Damn I loved them back in the 70's and was at one of the "Waiting For Columbus" shows in DC, which was one of their biggest market I saw a semi-recent Bill Payne interview on YouTube in which he practically called Lowell an asshole..............I know from many that Lowell was a handful and really wanted a successful solo career because he had so many people in his ear telling him he was the star of the band, but I thought after all these years Payne could have been a little kinder to the man.

  • Sad to hear that, Payne was a big part of the sound but Little Feat was never the same without Lowell George, he was the star and soul of the band.

  • agreed, the wail together, but for me most of the feeling ( grooving rocking raging funking set aside) the feeling was in lowell's voice. Holly shit so much pain and pleasure in that man's voice at the same time.

  • Little Feat is one of my top three all time favorite bands. Huge fan since early 70's.

Check out the Lowell George tribute page on my space.

  • Thanks for posting this !!!Must be the best best Lowell-clip :)Why is there no definitive documentary about Little Feat?

  • Little Feat: I still own all of their "records". I saw them play live in San Diego in 1976. Their show that night eclipsed their recordings, it was a very good night!

  • Feat Rocks! I would just love to have a beer with Lowell on the "Other Side".

  • They were still getting the act together as it sounds like they are going into Dixie Chicken, but we know they made their bones by slippin into Tripe Face Boogie.

They are right on the edge of gettin it right.

What a great video from a great time.

  • That made me laugh - 'Tripe Face Boogie'!

    I loved Little Feat.

  • he was a sexy , gorgeous proud funky singer. God, i miss him so !

  • A Distant Thunder, Business As Usual, Calling The Children Home, Changin' Luck, Daily Grind, Don't Try So Hard, Down In Flames, Eden'S Wall, Falling Through The Worlds, Feel The Groove, Feelin's AllGone, Ferocious Morning, Fighting The Mosquito Wars, Hangin' On To The Good Times, Hoy Hoy, I'd Be Lyin, Listen To Your Heart, Livin' On Dreams, Loved And Lied To, Somebody;s Leavin', Teenage Warrior, The Blues Don't Tell It All, Under The Radar, Vale Of Tears, Voices On The Wind...how wrong you are!

  • Funky, huh?

These guys, Zappa and The Band, made me one partying kid. I can't believe I'm still here, I should be dead.

"they all assed about-cha down on..."

  • the cows ass, the pigs ass and the horses ass2

  • lol, you know it brother!

  • just genius! try to beat this!!!! one of the best bands!!!!! Little Feat!!!!

  • Genius

  • just another gig, entertaining Dutch folk 200 feet up in the air...how did they maintain the funk...!

  • Did you mean Dutch folk in the US

    or in Europe?

I would be interested to know.

    bye

    Coco

    P.S. what is 200 feet in meters/kilometers,

thanks for explaining if you will take the trouble.

  • This one is for Travis & his cabin ;)

  • LOL coco!, I don't mind if it's cold...as long as this Dixie Chicken, gots his Tennesee Lamb!

  • lowell... quite simply the best at what he did...no one can touch him then, now,or ever...PERIOD!!!!!

  • jajajajajahhhhh!

I was a bit young then, but a few years later loved his voice.

    Thanks dear, keep well

    Coco

  • Brute force + Technical excellence + Funky = Tripe Face Boogie. Its all great, simply a pleasure to listen to. Paul, Fred, Bill Payne, & Richie Hayward are some of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet

  • slide with a socket priceless

  • Why in the hell am I just now hearing this? I'm going to buy EVERY Little Feat and George Lowell CD I can find.

  • What a great comment! It truly speaks to the power of their music and how it transcends the ages. Lowell lives ever on.

  • thats lowell george man and thats how its done

  • and sad to say.. george passed away in a hotel.. washington dc marriot key bridge... now thats sad

  • Key Bridge Marriott? really?

I played D1 lacrosse at that time. When it was my day for lockerroom music, Feat were the choice. Picture 27 guys dancing/ shouting before game/practice. Made us play really loose-and well!

  • I saw the show in DC that night at the Cellar Door...and he was awesome as always...my sister's house was about three blocks from the Key Bridge Marriott and we both cried when we heard about him the next day.

  • this is so funky.....

  • This is the original shit.....the brute force and the technical excellence.

  • rest peacefully Lowell!

  • feets...you either liked em or ya didnt...Just like the Dead. My sentiments only.

  • Thanks, Nortweston! Sure do miss Lowell...

  • the Feat well and truly in their pomp......

    (and the Netherlands too, incidentally..)

  • Little Feat (w/Lowell)

    Allman Brothers

    Grateful Dead.

    Best of this genre.

    In that order.

  • Yeah, something like that.

  • 100ft above the audience...... and any other band ever.....geddit,d'ya geddit...??

  • I remember hearing feats don`t fail me now and the album cover with george washington and marilyn monroe ...That album sent me into a whole different direction...i had 3 different copies because people kept stealing it from me!!! Yeah, Lowell and the boys were the best and to those who say otherwise i say that you are sadly ignorant...Why not apply for a job at Rolling stone magazine...

  • Now I remember - it was Charlton Football Club

    Stadium

  • Sorry guys,

This is a '76 Dutch concert, Hilversum, Sportpark, along with Tim Buckley, and the great DOOBIES!

Wanna verify? Check the posting higher-up in this list mentioning "Holland". At the end of that video you can see the Dutch origin of this footage.

Great band, bit too much of that slide guitar though. Yet imagine: The Rolling Stones once mentioned (Melody Maker) LF was the GREATEST band of all.Ain't that a statement!!

  • I think you are all wrong for the location. It was held at a soccer stadium in South London - England (I forget which one). On the same bill was the Alex Harvey Band, The Outlaws (amazing band), and headlined by THE WHO. The red white & blue is also the English flag colours.I remember them clearly as i was there to witness musical history in the making. Little Feat is my favourite band of all time. They need to be in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. Lowell, you are sorely missed - the very best!

  • Well, lets face it, Little Feat never exactly took off here or anywhere else. Trouble was they were too close to the the skin, a small band of originals just froving around and yelling like mad.

  • they never took off? just being the best at what they did wasn't enough? and what is being "too close to the skin" supposed to mean? "froving around and yelling like mad"? at least you got the part about being original correct. what, may i ask, would you consider a worthy r&r hof candidate?

  • They never took off?????..you'd have to be kidding..they were one of the most influential bands in contemporary music..all over the world

  • I was thinking that the other day. how many years do they have to be around until they get recognized in the R&R HOF??? Coming up on 40

  • The R&R HOF is B.S., a lot of great bands still not in, Yes,Moody Blues,Genesis,Deep Purple,Chicago and more. As long as Jann Wenner is involved you won't be seeing them there.

  • Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame - Great ..

  • Little Feat ISN'T in the R&R HOF??? Hard to believe.

  • I have Rockpalast and this is different. Not nearly as good - but maybe it is this production mix from Rockpalast, I do not know.

  • I saw them -'76? I also saw the Who, ARS, REO, etc, but Feat're the BEST of my concert memories. No fancy stage show crap, just them and the MUSIC. I remember they did "don't bogart that joint, my friend - pass it over to meee" and the audience pelted the stage with doobies - they gathered 'em up, & all left the stage but the bass, who mesmerized us for at least 5 min by himself. Then came back, one by one, flickin' roaches away as they came - truly cool, I was/am proud to have been there.

  • this band are pure genius. I count them as my friend.

  • imho lowell george - zappa's best guitarist of the lot of them

  • Richie, Sam and Kenny Gradney = best rhythm section of all time.

  • Loose and tight as hell at the same time. How is this possible? Richie Haywood and Sam Clayton: best rhythm section of all time.

  • There needs to be a push to get them into the RR hall of fame. I cant believe there not there

  • Hall'o'Fame?! I agree!, right there next to Duane and the bros!

  • thank you so much for putting this up - sheer genius! love bill paynes little wiggly ass. i don't literally love it - i mean it amuses me. hope that is clear :-)

  • good music and a clever lyric...this stuff will live on ..hope eveyrone sees and hears it .. if not you are missing out on one of life's simple pleasures

  • im only 18 and i still agree with you all

  • I'm new to you-tube and it's wild to see all this old Feat stuff. Are there any DVD's, (with Lowell), out other than the Rock Palace show. If there is I'd love to hear about them! Thank you very much!

  • The Rockpalast show is the only one I know of with Lowell George on DVD. There was a Warner Brothers VHS release of Little Feat in London in 1977 (Mick Taylor, ex-Rolling Stones guests), but that never made it to DVD officially. There are some boot versions of it out there. I'd gladly pay for an official, clean, remaster of it if Warner would put it out on DVD.

  • Lowell was amazing, but the groove that band dug... sometimes so tight you couldn't get a credit card through it, other times a syncopated bass or drum part would pick you up and throw you across the room, such was the traction. In other words the best blues-funk groove band of all time.

  • Dam stright

  • I saw them in a samll theater in 1976 & to this day it stands as one of the best i've ever seen. Hotcha, indeed!

  • Lowell was a personal friend. He was a great big personality, even when you hung out. Damn near killed me to hear he died, here in DC I was, and him maybe 20 min. away. And all his "friends" (connections) cared about was that there was no trace back to them. What a crock. Glad he did get to live big, even if, like the best, he died young.

  • Great! Thanks for posting, what year was this concert?

  • in was june 1976, PinkPop festival in Holland,

    see my video for more...

  • Little Feat today bears little resemblance to this incredeble band you see in this video. They need to ditch Tackett and Murphy and replace them with Bonnie Raitt. You get a great voice and a killer slide player at he same time. Not a bad voice either. That would bring back the soul and energy this band needs today. Yes I know that'll never happen how cool would that be?!!!

  • Absolutely fabulous,thanks.

  • How great was/is Lowell? And just how tight & funky are the band?? Just unbelievable!!

  • yea!!! 1i1feat

  • Just freaking amazing! Thanks for posting this. As a life-long Feat fan I am still constantly amazed how good they were/are still today. The re-incarnation of the band through out the years keeps them fresh, relevant and wayyyyyyyyyy ahead of the curve. Thanks again! oh, and GO SEE some live music!

  • HOY, HOY, HOY !!!

  • Interesting because Lowell set the tempo fairly slow in comparison to the stuio version. Great tune!

  • Thank you for posting this rare footage. Lowell was the man! What a great voice. One for the ages. Could you post the other footage from this incredible concert?

  • If you've never listened to little feat you're missing the best band ever. there isn't antbody who sounds like them or are better musicians. Richie Hayward is the the most incredible drummer. give a listen

  • theo80126 , i am dutch and this is in Holland !!!

  • Lowell was the man. This is gold. Nuthin like it today such a shame...

  • Lowell. The Dog's Bollocks.

  • you see in the beginning the red, white and blue banners...that are the colours of the Dutch flag. @nortweston , it is NOT in Germany but in Holland.

    7 juin 1976 PinkPop Festival-Geleen, Netherlands.

  • Or could be France

  • Geleen is not Germany - but close. :-)

jnerrot placed some other tv-registrations of this concert.

  • Two degrees in be-bop, a PHD in swing He's the master of rhythm he's a rock and roll king ... Lowell Gorge

  • Simply fantastic. Must be old, look how thin Lowell is! His death was such a waste. It still makes me sad, all these years later. But great vid all the same!

  • Cöól,..I was there...1976 (I was 15 ) "pinkpop" in Geleen

    Netherlands !!

  • WONDERFUL, Thank you, thank you, thank you. What year was this? Listen to his voice, so clean, early tour like.

  • aesome but does it go to Dixie Chicken

  • thankyou nortweston..thankyou any more of lowell.

  • As indicated above, this footage is on the Rockpalast DVD. I highly recommend the DVD as it no only has the concert but additional segments with running musicians' commentary on the show (including Elizabeth George as well). Great for any avid feat fan.

  • hey..sounds great..do you know where you can get a copy of that dvd?...istod..x
