  • Thesunsetreptiles is not the smartest tool in the shed, & Americans generally think they know everything, so just ignore him.

According to "Kinglake 350", which is a brilliant read, Australia is hit by approximately 55,000 bush fires every year, most of which are deliberately lit. Think about that number. It blows my mind.

For the benefit of Americans reading this, Australia is officially the most fire-prone country on Earth. Please don't move here. Please.

  • The news crews essentially advertised the fire threat to fire starters, "Hey guys, bad fire day, possibly the worst in recorded history" It's like advertising free food to some people.

  • Damn, 3 years ago.

    RIP

  • y does every god damn vid have morans fighting over what was better, who has the worse fires who has the worst accidents who has the best military, who has the best car race, it doesn't matter what vid it is ppl will fight that there country is better or more extreme in sum way ffs get over it.

  • Scariest day/night of my life!!

  • @thesunsetreptiles

Are you an idiot, Australia has heaps worse fires than USA, and we have them all year, whenever it's hot here is a bush fire somewhere in Aus especially QLD and north NSW as well as Victoria as we just saw.

  • you guys dont get firestorms every year. you guys dont get brush fires every year.

  • @thesunsetreptiles....what fucking drugs are you smoking??? Australia gets the worst bushfires in the world....PERIOD......do your homework first.....

  • @thesunsetreptiles australia and the US are almost the same size, australia is a lot more drier and warmer than the US. Anyway RIP was a horrible day no one will forget

  • we get that every year In California, united states.

  • @thesunsetreptiles But Thing is, bushfires in australia are way worse than any other countries due to all our gum trees with Eucalyptus in them.. its like adding More Fuel To The Fire Itself.

  • @SuperSumone um i dont think so. United states have the biggest fires then any other country we get them every year un like you you guys get them some not all the time. and we can get them all year long.

  • @thesunsetreptiles nothing that covers an intier state the size of California

  • Now available on ABC i view.

Went to a memorial service last year with the Clark's.

  • For all the Ex-pats the full documentary is now available on ABC TV i view. Sorry but I can't post the link.

The official warnings for the day were for Catastrophic fire conditions and people in Melbourne were warning to stay away from all rural areas.

For those who have not seen the full documentatry I strongly reccomend watching this program. It contains the only extensive footage of a crown fire firestorm that I have ever seen, absolutely incredible.

  • This was a FANTASTIC doco, ABC really did a great job of letting the people tell there stories, some of em very sad. Definately reccomend getting the Documentary while you can download it. ABC def done a great job with it. I live in Victoria, i was in between the Bunyip and Churchill fires (safe) but we still copped ember attacks etc, its amazing too hear just how very VERY bad it was in the thick of it . :(

  • Google " abc documentries inside the firestorm"

  • Very emotional ride watching this. it pushes the tears out whether you like it or not. You see one man manages to save his family and his home, then next door another mans lost his family and his home. But one thing all these people have in common... they keep going no matter what

  • The complete documentary can be downloaded from the ABC website until the 20th of February 2010. Just search for the words inside the firestorm. I managed to render the MPEG-4 movie to DVD format without any problem. The complete file (108 minutes) is about 375Mb.

  • This was some of the best television I have seen in a long time.
