  • He's alive and well. Birdy isn't bold. He's a pro. Big difference.

  • There are old pilots and bold pilots, but there are no old, bold, pilots...is this guy still with us?

  • That's the best "circling approach" I've ever seen. Fantastic!

  • This guy is a one man airshow.. I would buy tickets for sure...

They should make another Mad Max movie.. just so he can be in it !!!

  • Well, he seems to have gyro flying pretty much sussed out, doesn't he. Is he still alive?

  • Wow thats some great flying!

    I want one...

  • Birdy rules!

  • Every time I actually see one of these things take off, I'm amazed. They just look so antique. Still, it's awesome. Couldn't pay me to fly one of those things, Knowing me I'd fly it right into the only tree in a 80 mile radius.

  • Orville,Wilbur,Louis,Charles,Bob,Chuck and "Good Ol Birdy"Fly On Cowboy!

  • Little Nellie!

All it needs is guns, bombs and a coffee maker. Bloody Crazy Aussia.

Green with envy from Toansket, Wa USA

    ;-)

    Great show!

  • that guy is amazing!

  • what this engine, please???

  • Rotax 912.

  • Is Feral a make of gyrocopter? If so, do they have a website?

  • crazy crazy crazy... you is crazy

  • AWESOME FLYING SKILLS! How long did it take Birdy to get this good?

  • Thankyou for useing the sound of the machine. It helps the realism of the video, much better than the usual music[ or some such noise] on many video's,

  • Awesome flyin right there...What are goats payin a kilo up that way?

  • Birdy is a nuts pilot...I am always amazed by the performance of Gyrocopters...but they scare the living bejeezus out of me...

  • Amazing, just like in the "Road warrior".

  • mad! =)

  • As Clint said in one of his movies, a man has to know his limitations. It's obvious, Birdy does. Great flying!

  • Wild man. I'll stick with my fixed wing :) "Drifters own"

  • Very nice flying.........it was insane....makes me want to sell my home and get my own gyrocopter!!

  • I think they were like $2000 when they first came out? Not sure how much now, how much could be for a blade, seat, and motor?

  • A good used gyro is around $10,000. New single place machinse start around $15,000.

  • Well thank you very much! I just startin gettin up w areonautics company for real heli license. I really think i am in love looks awesome!!

  • yeah that was a sick landing.

  • This guy is nuts...the rotor blades were like a foot off the ground at times. I had no idea gyroplanes were so maneuverable, sweet flying!!

  • I thought for sure he was going to clip the ground or a tree with his rotor. I think I would do that at 3000' AGL rather than three feet.

  • Its really incredible what Birdy does with this tiny machine! I wonder why it has no horizontal stabilizer.

  • Thanks for the reply's. Im very interested in Autogyros now:) They look like alot of fun.

  • no they cant, they can appear to hover in a head wind, but they need forward momentum to stay aloft. the pusher prop is in the back (it pushes) and the main rotor works off of its drag, in the drag a lift is also created... there are google videos about gyrocopter design theory... it think..

  • Great flying! Im just learning about autogyro's already know alot about helicopters. Have 1 question, can autogyros hover? Im asking this because I understand that some autogyro's don't have supplied power to the main rotor head, so it might stall in a hover right??

  • Gyros don't stall. They can simulate a hover with about a 10 mph head wind. If there isn't enough wind to hover the gyro will slowly start a vertical sink but it's not a stall.

  • I think its a ken brock KB-2 as it has the fuel tank seat which that type normaly use. also notice the big deformation on the left side of the seat as if its been bashed alittle. Well done though I love Gyro's

  • Not a Brock. Birdy's gyro has a Rotax 912 not a Mac.

  • Amazing how he did that last 360 turn around his hangar and set it down in front of the door. How long has Birdy been flying gyros?

  • What gyro variant is this?

  • It started out as an Australian make. Birdy has modified it quite a bit.

  • What a buzz that would be.....makes my trike flying like sitting in church....I need one badly one.

  • Hard to believe the military doesn't use these things.

Awesome video, thanks for posting it.

  • I'd be imbarrassed to fly again if I were a bird. WOW!!! Pretty damn good first solo.

  • that Landing was SICK!!

  • love the landing

  • There are some awesome bush pilots up around Australia's top end. Many don't hold a licence but have been flying since they were kids. Such is the way of life up there. My cousins a chopper engineer with Helimuster on Victoria River Downs - awesome lifestyle.

  • Larry Neal's gyrocopter's Emperor and Monarch appear

to be the most airworthy of all.

They have a tough landing gear,

that allows even a drop like a rock!

An sudden need to land is what hurts!

Got to get a flying machine that will pull you

out of a dive even if when you do something stupid!

  • 100% agree...me and a friend of mine flew up to meet Larry this past weekend and I found him to be brilliant, humble, and a marvelous gyro pilot. The G-force landing gear is the most innovative thing I've seen on a gyro since the invention of the prerotator. I'm ready to buy a Monarch.

  • nuts!!

  • Very Godd.

  • Excellent dude!!!!

  • that guy is friggen good!
