What's annoying in horror games? You see soldiers near a window, but when you get to them, they are either dead, or zombies. A classic in horror game.
Sorry, i'm creeped out A few years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand
The guy who said that this is "gay as hell" is obviously a stupid kid, but Dead Space actually is a great game. It's no SS2 but you should still check it out.
@Spitfire608 You are a clear example of the gay gaming community we have today... THIS IS A CLASSIC! This is made in 1999 you piece of shit, back then theese graphics we're amazing, fuck you! This game is still amazing.
@SmokenAces Especially after not playing the classics that set the stage for the for these new titles with almost identical similarities. They pale in comparison and no one has any clue about the history and But keep it on ! After playing Bioshock (which isn't a bad game) it's just the same old shit with less ingenuity and soul. put into the game.
Unfortunately, my dad bought me this game when I was 10 and it was scary as shit, I think even if I played it today, 10 years later, I'd shit my pants playing this. It still haunts me today when I think about the terror that was instilled in me when I first played it 10 years ago.
Man 1999 Was a great year for FPS's, Systemshock 2, Half Life... What ever happend to 20 hour long FPS's with puzzle elements and story lines that make hollywood script writers sh*t their pants
@stijnxd Bioshock is a simplified and nerfed version of SS2 , in Bioshock the game seems non linear but its completely linear , u never need to go back . @stijnxd And who cares about graphics? what it matters is the Gameplay and not the graphics , Please google the Zero Punctuation Review of Bioshock and u will see how Bioshock its not a godly game like everybody thinks....

Motherfucker, please. If this game didn't exist there would be no BioShock. If BioShock is based on what you call bullshit, than what the hell is BioShock?
@javicho136 LMAO. Bioshock is nothing new and basically took every element from Deux Ex invisible war. All they did was rehash it and add some fancy graphics, and the choices of your actions actually had a dramatic impact on the ending of whose side you were on, instead of "oh well you harvest a few girls?" BAD ENDING "oh you harvested ALL girls?" BAD ENDING , "oh you saved ALL the girls?" Hooray good ending. I love how these new-gen gamers praise these later titles.
@fozgoth its probably way better... but i dont say hl is bad, i finished hl and it was awesome, but now i see this vid while downloading System shock :D!
Looks fucking nice. This is the next game i will be playing. Are there also graphics mods for it, like the enbseries for deus ex for enhanced lightning etc?
@tuniturntablist dead space was going to be the next system shock but then they realised they didnt have anything to progress the story so they made dead space
i dont understand, all of u people saying how pixel games are so awesome bla bla bla. but really? idk im confused, how can u even compare fallout 3 with fallout 1 and 2, or dead space with say system-shock. is like games made in totally different ages. i dont get how games made in year 2011 can be worse than 1990s. MW is a great game so is fallout, but plz its a slaughter when comparing the two.
@BUGBUSTERss you gotta look past the graphics, Fallout 3 isnt fallout. The earlier fallouts had much better stories, much better voice acting and dialogue, many more options in perks and traits, much deeper gameplay (ie playing as a low INT character affects the whole game in 1 and 2), better atmosphere and were a whole lot darker and badass. Similiar with System Shock 2...it is a far better game than Bioshock (this vid doesnt exactly show why...) games now are shallow and about the bucks only.
@dageezerboi I feel it is more of a difference between the generations of gamers. I wouldn't trade Doom, Fallout, or Betrayal at Krondor for any of today's corresponding titles. The next generation of gamers seeks something else in games, which is neither better or worse, their needs differ because they grew up in different times. Thus I find comparing old and new games pointless. It may be hard to accept, but new stuff isn't exactly worse that the stuff we know, it's just different.
@HavelP I would say the new stuff is alot worse mostly because as I said its about the bucks and catering towards the mainstream which wasn't really the case in the 90s. can you imagine Planescape Torment being released today, a game primarily focused on storytelling? so yeah I guess different needs but imo the pinnacle of pc and videogames was the late 90s, there was love and care put into titles whereas today its all about graphics and looking flashy.
@dageezerboi Yes, that's true. And that's one of the reasons I won't give my Planescape away. Speaking of which, I felt a sudden urge to install it ;).
But there are still some good titles out there. I enjoyed throughly: Mass Effect 1, Bulletstorm, Metro 2033, Stalker series, Knights of the Old Republic 2, Armed Assault, Crysis - I've found all of them to be good games. Still, I agree that the most polished games came out in the 90s.
@dageezerboi Oh forgot to tell that yes gaming in early 2000/late 90s was the best. Because it was actually targeted to the gaming audience, us, the nerds haha. But now everything has to be simplified and a lot of games get restricted by the console controls. Thats why i love those pc exclusives such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. also anyone remember SoF? Hands down, best multiplayer experience i ever had.
@dageezerboi I like Fallout 3 more than fallout 1 though. Combat in Fallout 1 was just a pain and really sluggish. Not really a fan of the wait and see combat. And saying Fallout 3 has bad voice acting is just plain lying, also it was great seeing the wasteland in full 3D for once and it really caught the atmosphere right.
@Fritsie93 eh I prefered the combat, more tactical and less clunky than F3 (although it wasn't the strongest part of the game by any means). I didn't say it had bad voice acting just better in the earlier games, dialogue especially was far better in 1 & 2. I agree on that last point though, the first time you step out the vault in F3 was great. but its all opinions so I'm not gonna hate on yours.
@dageezerboi yeah fallout 3's dialogue sucked, lol the armored sergeant guy in fallout 2 was pretty funny "im gonna have someones ass for dinner tonight!" but idk if i have to choose, i'd still choose 3 rather then 2. well im playing system shock 2 now lol its pretty scary. when every i need to check my inventory and stuff i need to hid myself in a tiny room, geez tho hybrids are everywhere, and they kept respawning ... i wonder if its gonna ruin the game play if i disable respawning.
@BUGBUSTERss it will hurt the game, leave it on and play as it's meant to be..a survival horror. they will only constantly respawn if an alarm is going off..it can explain the respawning enemies anyway. your character can learn the teleportation psi power and if you see the enemies respawning (rare) you notice it's the same effect as they are psi enhanced. they arent aware of you when they respawn and huge numbers were on that ship so it kinda makes sense. have u come across any midwifes yet?
@dageezerboi ah ur too late, ive ruined the game already, by cheating ... its really sad. yeah midwife cyborgs i thought they would have big breasts like in the google images i guess its the patch. lol i spawn one of those myself. now the game bores me, i feel sorry that i cheated. anyhow that game scares me so i doubt if im gonna finish it anyways. creepy. moving on to more relaxing games such as No one lives forever 2, i love that game lol. hum is Theif any good? or Deus Ex.
@BUGBUSTERss yeah the midwives u saw are probably the updated 'rebirth' models. all those new models are less scary anyway i think cos of the crappy graphics of the originals lol, makes them look scarier. Thief 1 and 2 are amazing, Thief 1 is, imo, the best of the series and the best stealth game ever. Deus Ex is similiar to System Shock 2 but a futuristic sci fi version. Alot of people rate it as the best game ever so yeah I would definitely give both of those games a go.
@dageezerboi im playing Deus Ex right now, waw, amazing story line! all those conspiracies. i found Deus Ex to be very different from system shock, not just the theme, its more err say intense in the long run, it has that up and downs that really grabs me or surprises me in some levels, i mean there aren't really "levels", the entire game is one big level, and the little relaxing fillers that are in between are just as enjoyable as the actions and they are very well blended together.
@BUGBUSTERss yeah there is a load of really cool stuff in Deus ex as well that you can find /overhear not to mention all the different choices you can make... one thing I found recently (and I don't know if you have got to it yet) but when Simons goes to interrogate the NSF prisoners follow him and enter the cell..
@dageezerboi yeah i saw some one did that in one of the videos, all i did was overhearing should've gone in tho. loved the sniper rifle, its 1 shot kill for every thing that's human so far. never liked the dragon tooth ... takes so much space and it doesn't do much without investing in it. the assault rifle is quite good as well but the ammo ... sigh ... currently at the ocean lab level, sniping is so fun! gonna try out homeworld as well, seems fun
@Troforso well you have an entire ship to emplore, but you allways have a place to be going, so its a bit of both, but its by no means linear, and you often exploring for supplys and the like.
personally systemshock good game and all but i think bioshock perfected that "type" of game not saying system shock wasnt great i mean it was an amazing game but now a days I rather play bioshock
I once read somewhere that Dead Space is a "spiritual sequel" to System Shock 2. So I got the game. After about two hours of playing it I remembered the "sequel" thing and went:
@jounihat Unfortunately I never managed to force my PC to run it. When it came out my PC was too weak and when I remembered about it later I already had a modern machine that couldn't run it even with dosbox.
@dageezerboi No, it was Dead Space. Bioshock was a sequel gameplay-wise, wasn't it? Psi-powers, upgrade modules, "story-disks", your nemesis guiding you through voice-comms, cameras, turrets, hacking... all this was almost a "port" of SS2 into a new environment.
Dead Space on the other hand was more into the atmosphere of SS2. I grinned quite a few times because there were things that throughly reminded me of it, for example an alien "mind" influencing the crew members and forging them into obidient fanatics even before any action begins (The Many/The Marker - Diego and Koretchkin/The scientist guy who's running around killing people in DS, forgot the name).
I enjoyed both series, but by far SS2 is more polished that any of them.
I loved SS 2 but I tried playing this got to lvl 5 and I am stuck...
unlike System Shock 2 Deus Ex or any post-1997 (3D Era) game I feel no motivation to continue playing unfortunately I didn't had a great time. Its the outdated gameplay more than the outdated graphics trust me.
That said I would probably have been blown away if I played it back when the only FPS game I knew was Doom and Wolfeinstein 3D...
@DNesij That's most properly a question of age, I am about 30 (east-german, we got that stuff a little later) and I am still comfortable with VGA, EGA games as the story and setting is nice and! nicely done in the matters of age. I'd draw the line at purely text-games.
Wrong video I was watching a SYSTEM SHOCK 1 VIDEO. I accidentally post it here. I love SS2!
I started playing games at a young age: 4 (1990). However I found it harder to go back as technology moves on. I wonder it is the same for other gamers? Some of my friends wont even play a game thats older than 2006-2007. Ridiculous... Right now I draw the line at 1996-1997 Early 3D era games. Anyway just wanted to share my experience.
Some of my favorite Games: Homeworld, System Shock 2, Age of Empires 1-2, Red Alert 1, Fallout, Deus Ex, Planescape Torment, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, Thief, Baldur's Gate, Dungeon Keeper...
This came out at the time of Aureal 3d surround support (before creative rodgered that company out of existence) and it worked incredibly well with headphones. The 3d sound positioning was astounding and added to an already terrifying experience.
I was very disappointed when I got my hands on bioshock after reading reviews it was the 'spiritual equal" to SS2. Bioshock is a Mickey Mouse twitchfest compared. I'm still waiting for this level of immersion to come around again in games.
hey! would you plz help me? i got a big problem. i run ss2 on win7 perfecty, updated, tooled, mod-friendlified, patched and all. BUT: i couldn't get the cutscenes show. i used the dos prompt as admin, loaded the lgvid.ax successfully, ran ss2 as admin, so followed the issue-regarded instructions as told, yet no cutscenes ever shown. any hint would be highly appreciated, thx in advance
Modern single player horror games are so simple, there is no complexity left. You don't have to think at all, it's all about reaction times. Just look at Bio Shock: No inventory, linear maps with big arrows telling you where to go, no real upgrade-system, you never need to listen to what the characters are saying, glowing buttons, etc etc. It's just a simple shooter.
It's so sad because PC-gaming has so much potential. But ALL games are designed to be playable by 10 year old kids.
@RATPT0I they have similar attributes yes but so what? now im speaking in general so if a game has a super suit and a couple years later some other game happens to have a super suit it a complete ripoff of the first game with super suit even if the games have a different plots and settings? Bioshock was a great game pretty original if you ask me and if you think its the exact same as system shock 2 then think of it as a graphical upgrade.
@danin900 Lol you say halo is not creative? With forge world, theater mode and a huge sci-fi story? I agree with call of duty but clearly you blindly bash halo for being popular.
combination of cysis(control penal)/fear(ghost element)/doom3(environment& some enemies)/dead space(game genre)/farcry(difficulty, solve myth)/prey(some game play) and most importantly! it was made in 1999!!
@crazycrackmonkey5 this is MUCH better than Bioshock in every way (graphics aside of course). so many awesome moments in this game and shodan has gotta be one of the best villains ever.
From what I have played so far doom 3 is better than this.

HavelP 7 months ago
@dageezerboi Oh forgot to tell that yes gaming in early 2000/late 90s was the best. Because it was actually targeted to the gaming audience, us, the nerds haha. But now everything has to be simplified and a lot of games get restricted by the console controls. Thats why i love those pc exclusives such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. also anyone remember SoF? Hands down, best multiplayer experience i ever had.
Fritsie93 7 months ago
@Fritsie93 SoF? yeah man those games were great, GHOUL kicked ass. Well until SoF 3 came out and butchered the series anway...
dageezerboi 7 months ago
@dageezerboi I like Fallout 3 more than fallout 1 though. Combat in Fallout 1 was just a pain and really sluggish. Not really a fan of the wait and see combat. And saying Fallout 3 has bad voice acting is just plain lying, also it was great seeing the wasteland in full 3D for once and it really caught the atmosphere right.
Fritsie93 7 months ago
@Fritsie93 eh I prefered the combat, more tactical and less clunky than F3 (although it wasn't the strongest part of the game by any means). I didn't say it had bad voice acting just better in the earlier games, dialogue especially was far better in 1 & 2. I agree on that last point though, the first time you step out the vault in F3 was great. but its all opinions so I'm not gonna hate on yours.
dageezerboi 7 months ago
@dageezerboi The voice acting in FO1 just sounded more robotic than lively in my opinion. Ah well guess we have to agree to disagree :P
Fritsie93 7 months ago
@dageezerboi yeah fallout 3's dialogue sucked, lol the armored sergeant guy in fallout 2 was pretty funny "im gonna have someones ass for dinner tonight!" but idk if i have to choose, i'd still choose 3 rather then 2. well im playing system shock 2 now lol its pretty scary. when every i need to check my inventory and stuff i need to hid myself in a tiny room, geez tho hybrids are everywhere, and they kept respawning ... i wonder if its gonna ruin the game play if i disable respawning.
BUGBUSTERss 7 months ago
@BUGBUSTERss it will hurt the game, leave it on and play as it's meant to be..a survival horror. they will only constantly respawn if an alarm is going off..it can explain the respawning enemies anyway. your character can learn the teleportation psi power and if you see the enemies respawning (rare) you notice it's the same effect as they are psi enhanced. they arent aware of you when they respawn and huge numbers were on that ship so it kinda makes sense. have u come across any midwifes yet?
dageezerboi 7 months ago
@dageezerboi ah ur too late, ive ruined the game already, by cheating ... its really sad. yeah midwife cyborgs i thought they would have big breasts like in the google images i guess its the patch. lol i spawn one of those myself. now the game bores me, i feel sorry that i cheated. anyhow that game scares me so i doubt if im gonna finish it anyways. creepy. moving on to more relaxing games such as No one lives forever 2, i love that game lol. hum is Theif any good? or Deus Ex.
BUGBUSTERss 7 months ago
@BUGBUSTERss yeah the midwives u saw are probably the updated 'rebirth' models. all those new models are less scary anyway i think cos of the crappy graphics of the originals lol, makes them look scarier. Thief 1 and 2 are amazing, Thief 1 is, imo, the best of the series and the best stealth game ever. Deus Ex is similiar to System Shock 2 but a futuristic sci fi version. Alot of people rate it as the best game ever so yeah I would definitely give both of those games a go.
dageezerboi 7 months ago
@dageezerboi im playing Deus Ex right now, waw, amazing story line! all those conspiracies. i found Deus Ex to be very different from system shock, not just the theme, its more err say intense in the long run, it has that up and downs that really grabs me or surprises me in some levels, i mean there aren't really "levels", the entire game is one big level, and the little relaxing fillers that are in between are just as enjoyable as the actions and they are very well blended together.
BUGBUSTERss 7 months ago
@BUGBUSTERss yeah there is a load of really cool stuff in Deus ex as well that you can find /overhear not to mention all the different choices you can make... one thing I found recently (and I don't know if you have got to it yet) but when Simons goes to interrogate the NSF prisoners follow him and enter the cell..
dageezerboi 7 months ago
@dageezerboi yeah i saw some one did that in one of the videos, all i did was overhearing should've gone in tho. loved the sniper rifle, its 1 shot kill for every thing that's human so far. never liked the dragon tooth ... takes so much space and it doesn't do much without investing in it. the assault rifle is quite good as well but the ammo ... sigh ... currently at the ocean lab level, sniping is so fun! gonna try out homeworld as well, seems fun
BUGBUSTERss 7 months ago
@BUGBUSTERss I tried homeworld but couldn't get into it.. Not my sort of game..
dageezerboi 6 months ago
@dageezerboi hey take a look at this: youtube(dot)com/watch?v=md04Q7ClW_A dont know much about the game but this guy's video sure grabed me.
BUGBUSTERss 5 months ago
is this game like a go where you want to or is it a strict path game?
Troforso 8 months ago
@Troforso well you have an entire ship to emplore, but you allways have a place to be going, so its a bit of both, but its by no means linear, and you often exploring for supplys and the like.

@Koopsas okei, sounds cool, will try it. like both scifi and rpg so shouldnt go wrong

personally systemshock good game and all but i think bioshock perfected that "type" of game not saying system shock wasnt great i mean it was an amazing game but now a days I rather play bioshock
TheKillerComicz 8 months ago
I once read somewhere that Dead Space is a "spiritual sequel" to System Shock 2. So I got the game. After about two hours of playing it I remembered the "sequel" thing and went:
"Heh... heh-heh... haha... MWAHAHAHAHA! Really..."
Nothing comes close to System Shock 2. Nothing.
HavelP 8 months ago
@HavelP
What about System Shock 1?
jounihat 8 months ago
@jounihat Unfortunately I never managed to force my PC to run it. When it came out my PC was too weak and when I remembered about it later I already had a modern machine that couldn't run it even with dosbox.
HavelP 8 months ago
@HavelP Surely that spiritual sequel was Bioshock not Dead Space? dead space is a great game but really nothing like system shock
dageezerboi 7 months ago
@dageezerboi No, it was Dead Space. Bioshock was a sequel gameplay-wise, wasn't it? Psi-powers, upgrade modules, "story-disks", your nemesis guiding you through voice-comms, cameras, turrets, hacking... all this was almost a "port" of SS2 into a new environment.
(part 1 ;))
HavelP 7 months ago
@dageezerboi

DNesij 8 months ago
@DNesij That's most properly a question of age, I am about 30 (east-german, we got that stuff a little later) and I am still comfortable with VGA, EGA games as the story and setting is nice and! nicely done in the matters of age. I'd draw the line at purely text-games.

@foobrewage Hallo. Danke fur antwort! :)
End of RANT.

Some of my favorite Games: Homeworld, System Shock 2, Age of Empires 1-2, Red Alert 1, Fallout, Deus Ex, Planescape Torment, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, Thief, Baldur's Gate, Dungeon Keeper...
Late 90s games were awesome! I miss it alot... :/

BioShock is one of my all-time favorite games, but the System Shock series makes it look like a trip through the haunted mansion. DAMN...
KorAnos1 8 months ago

Can you make a video of all the weapons in System Shock 2 & 1?
Cacowninja 9 months ago
this IS the greatest fps ever made, hands-down. back in the day this was some scary shit!
kennybarnwell1 9 months ago
Modern single player horror games are so simple, there is no complexity left. You don't have to think at all, it's all about reaction times. Just look at Bio Shock: No inventory, linear maps with big arrows telling you where to go, no real upgrade-system, you never need to listen to what the characters are saying, glowing buttons, etc etc. It's just a simple shooter.
It's so sad because PC-gaming has so much potential. But ALL games are designed to be playable by 10 year old kids.

TheMrTehawesome 8 months ago
@danin900 ....Games are still creative.....
TheMrTehawesome 8 months ago
@TheMrTehawesome no, a FPS today is all about wars and shit
no fun, no cool characters
only annoying, repeatitive plots about how the U.S.A. is a great country and shit
danin900 8 months ago
@danin900 So, FPS are the only genres I guess.
Bioshock, Rage, Fallout, Half Life and MW1 say hi.

@AkaZaikoDemon no
I don't know what you are talking about
danin900 6 months ago
@AkaZaikoDemon
yep. Comepletely a ripoff of SS2. Its not even funny.
RATPT0I 5 months ago
@RATPT0I they have similar attributes yes but so what? now im speaking in general so if a game has a super suit and a couple years later some other game happens to have a super suit it a complete ripoff of the first game with super suit even if the games have a different plots and settings? Bioshock was a great game pretty original if you ask me and if you think its the exact same as system shock 2 then think of it as a graphical upgrade.
AkaZaikoDemon 5 months ago
@RATPT0I Ken Levine made SS2. Ken Levine also made BioShock.
thatbennyguy 4 months ago
@thatbennyguy
That has no relevence to the fact that Bioshock doesn't hold a candle to System Shock 2.
RATPT0I 4 months ago
@danin900 Second Fallout was a better version of the forst, seriously :(

@danin900 Lol you say halo is not creative? With forge world, theater mode and a huge sci-fi story? I agree with call of duty but clearly you blindly bash halo for being popular.
SONYandMICROSOFT 4 months ago
@SONYandMICROSOFT well, play Half Life for a great sci-fi story, much better
danin900 4 months ago
@danin900 I love half life. But saying that halo isn't creative is bullshit. Why not play both?
