All of you critics, being so brave hiding behind the anonymity of the Internet. I doubt that any one of you would have the courage to take a risk like she did. Putting yourself out there where you could be embarrassed, where you might possibly fail. She had the courage to dare greatly. And you reward her with heartlessness. Guess what, critics, she will go further than any of you, because there is reward for courage like hers. Your reward for heartlessness? You will live the rest of your life k
@coldlynx Haha. In trying to make the girl feel better, he chopped up the anthem... and you defend him. FAIL x2 Why are you mad? 'Cuz I can remember the lyrics to your anthem while taking your jerbs? Haha.
@almanzam Hey faggot you don't know shit about America. See thats why were the greatest country in the world. We actually help each other out. Like what Mo Cheeks did.
But you don't know shit about that. I bet you'd sell your own mother for one grain of rice pendejo.
@coldlynx if you're going to help, at least sing the National Anthem's real words, not "STAR LIGHT" instead of "TWILIGHT." I see you've resorted to insults... if that makes you feel better, that's fine.
@coldlynx You and I are here YouTube commenting... meanwhile Mo Cheeks still doesn't know the proper words to the National Anthem, and neither does that girl.
Every singer has experience to lose suddenly words on the stage. Natalie Gilbert had been fighting the flu and was still sick the day of the performance on that pressure. She was just unlucky. But a gentle american saved that poor girl. Absolutely this is one of the greatest moment in NBA.
Star Spangled Banner is singlehandedly one of the absolute most difficult songs to sing... esp when you get to "rockets red glare" & "land of the free" parts. It sure feels way more than 2 octaves.
I know its been a while but I cant believe no-one comented on this. Mo did a great thing for that young girl. He couldnt just leave her out there so he did what he felt he had to do and wound up saving the day. Great job Mo.

Mo Cheeks NBA coaching record 570 games 284 wins 286 losses .498 win % 2002 lost in first round of the playoffs 2003 lost in first round of the playoffs 2004 missed playoffs 2005 FIRED 2006 missed playoffs 2007 missed playoffs 2008 lost in first round 2009 FIRED NICE WORK MO...TRY AND START A SINGING CAREER
I take it you have a higher regard for a person that would have a better Coaching record but would sit back and allow Young Girl to be humiliated in front of thousands-millions of people? You're not alone though, I had to explain the humanity to my son:):):)
I kid, but the only reason Cheeks did this is because he didn't want this girl delaying the game...But seriously, it's a good thing he helped her because there's nowhere to go if you choke during the anthem...great move by Coach Cheeks.
This is one of the greatest moments in sports, ever. Mo Cheeks, regardless of anything else he ever does in his life, will always be a class act in my book because of how he helped this little girl.
Mo Cheeks was/ is a class act. As a Blazer fan I will always remember him as a hero for what he did during a very bad moment for this girl and got Basketball Arena singing the Anthem, including the opposing team.
This is called leadership; its the USA at its very very best. Proud to be an ally of such strong people, God Bless you all and my comrades fighting abroad x
not many people will do something like that for someone, he's one of the better coaches in the league, and he just gained a lot of my respect, job well done, that's one of the best things i have seen in a long time
She's really good! I feel so bad for her. That would be so embarassing, she also gets off tune in it. I can't even imagine, I would run away, probably trip, and cry!
Nobody bood her at the game. Everyone was encouraging her to keep going. (I know it sounds like boos). I was at the game and once Mo Cheeks walked up to the girl and sang along side her the ENTIRE Rose Garden Croud joined in. It was the most amazing moment I have ever witnessed iside that arena becuse it brought every fan together. It was a very emotional and bonding experience.
I seriously doubt it. The poor girl freaked out and forgot the words to the anthem and Cheeks was awesome enough to help her out even though he's not a singer. I know that I was in that situation I would greatly appreciate the support. Why must you look at everything so negatively? He was being what a coach should be: a leader and supporter.

so because I look at how he helped her through the anthem negatively- just because i kinda got that vibe from it, probably just me- that makes me look at EVERYTHING so negatively??
nice try. I don't look at EVERYTHING negatively. just the vibe i got from him.
