I do believe it was a song called Hold Tight by Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick and Titch. Weird name for a band! To be honest, I'd never heard of them before watching Death Proof, they sound American so I suppose that's why, but I really think the music compliments the film perfectly, as is the case with all Tarantino's films.

I don't think it's the guy's fault, the idiotic girl in the film says mitch instead of mick, over and over again! Another reason it's a dreadful film. Great soundtrack though.
I'm gonna guess that Quentin Tarantino scripted her to say it 'Mitch', maybe it makes the scene more real coz American's might not know the band well. Because if she kept saying it wrong in takes, then he'd have said to her 'get it right love!' (Ha, he probably doesn't say love though :))
