I don't think he has to do it everytime. That was just a guideline for how to trigger it but just like with anything in life, once you learn it well enough you become skilled enough to understand newer ways of doing something. Generally, more efficient ways.

Nope; his AMP factor is triggered by his adrenalin levels, not a phrase. When he sees Fidgit drop, his adrenalin naturally spiked, automatically triggering the AMP factor. There's a lot of times he's "AMPed" without saying his phrase...

I will concede however, that he did play an important part in developing the storyline. *cough* Tempest *cough*
