I have an E46 330i and the only performance item I have is the Signature Motoring performance CAI for about $160. The performance kit adds around 13.5HP on the dyno, sounds freaking great, and installs in under 30 minutes. Highly recommended.
-13.5 HP increase
-Lifetime filter
-SOUND AWESOME
-30 min. install time
Aside from the power gain, the SOUND is amazing at higher RPM but sounds normal in regular driving. I’m thinking about added high-flow exhaust next.
My daily driver is E46 328i and E30 325 weekends. 328i is more responsive with Signature Motoring performance (CAI) intake kit. Installed it myself in under half hour. HP increase on the E46 is about 13.5HP for a cost of $170 or around $17 per HP gain. Best 1st performance mod to do. Other application data:
@monorath hey man can u answer pls what is more effective in raining/snowing weather ASC or DSC? (auto stability control or driving stability control)
@kidman363 In most cases the newest stability control system is the best for you (otherwise cars wouldn't be equipped it it don't you think ?:D), Dsc that is .
@kidman363 No electronic device is actually much of a use in snow/icy conditions. Even on gravels. That is one of the reasons they are banned from rallying even in amateur.
It is best if you can deactivate it. I deactivate the Traction Control System (TCS) in my Seat Leon in those conditions (or to have more fun ;-) ).
The best thing you can do for snow conditions: slimest rims possible so it can "cut" through the snow to reach the ground and deactivate electronic stability systems. Even ABS.
@Locoroco0007 Yes and the FIA does not allow ABS for safety reasons. I guess you should go talk to the FIA telling them you know better than them that ABS is safe for low grip conditions (even tho manufacturers admit ABS is not safe at all and recommend to deactivate it in snow or mud).
You should go teach the engineers who created and develop or use the ABS their job instead of wasting your time in youtube with me Mr Expert! You could make a lot of money!
@Locoroco0007 ... You will never do a best job then the ABS System ... You never will be able to pump the brake faster them the ABS Can ... end never apply the best pression brake on inch wheels...
@Victortrotska I thought that was true only when pulling away or going up hill - shouldn't it be on at all other times? I thought it would prevent a slide or loss of control if you were turning a corner, or if one side of the car hits an ice patch and loses traction for example.
I'm no expert by any means - but my understanding was to only switch it off briefly to get yourself moving....?
@sh856531 The problem with sensors is that they are not able to adapt as fast as a human being when the road surface varies a lot.
Example: you freeze frame yourself driving right before braking you can have: front left wheel on "dry" pavement heated by sunrays, front right: wet cold pavement, rear left: melted snow, rear right: ice.
Full brake: the calculators will fail to make proper adjustement.
A calucator able to react very fast to such varying situations would be very very very expensive.
I've had winter Dunlops (3D's and M3's) on all my cars and I was never disappointed.
Honestly, I thought climbing that hill would be very hard, in fact the point of this video was to see if I can go up the hill with DSC OFF, thinking that DSC would cut my power too much. But there was so much grip that it ruined my plans. :) I didn't even bother to try with DSC OFF.

I'm hunting for a good set of winter tyres for my car at the moment and after seeing that I'm going to keep an eye out for them next time I search.
Anyone know how they compare to the Continental Winter Contact 830 or GoodyearUltragrip 7+ tyre ?

@agamecalledsolitaire you should consider michelin pilot alpin pa3 or yokohama w.drives...2 of the best performance winter tires/tyres

@Victortrotska deactivating abs in the snow is the most stupid thing you can do

@Victortrotska we are not rally driving, we are trying to drive from A to B in a safe way, and deactivating abs in snow is not safe!

@UpcastWings that is what i'm telling to Victortrotska, ABS is good in snow for normal use of your vehicle. I'm not talking about rally driving....
