Monkees were special part of my life growing up. There was always something fun about them. Regret not seeing them more in concert over the past few decades. I still sing songs to my little daughter. You will be missed Davy Jones.
I was fortunate enough to have seen The Monkees in 1986 at RCC in Suffern, NY. They were great!! I still have the tea shirt that I bought. Rest in Peace Davy xoxoxo
Wow! This song still rocks! I remember when this came out in '86. I was 17 then and remember The Monkees being rerun on TV. What great times! This is one of my all-time favorite songs from this time, what energy! Way to go Mickey! And for Davy Jones, we will surely miss you! Thank you for the music, laughter, and memories! Your shining spirit will live on in us all!!! Miss you always!
: ( RIP DAVY JONES - the world misses your sense of humor and music talent.
You never know what life has in store for us - be kind and civil to yourselves, families, friends, those around you, co workers, and your favorite music stars, actors, teachers, scientists, all the people trying to make life easier and better, the list goes on....
The thing that sucks is not having the chance to converse t we with the dude.. He held my hand in 1996 and said Happy Birthday to him... I wanted to pause with him and say That moment at the Columbus Zoo meant the world to me... Thanks to my Lame brother, We left that night and never got the chance to talk to him about it... Now his death seems premature and has left a void to those that wanted to chill with him and never got to...
I miss Monkeemania of 1986-1987. Those were the most exciting days of my life. Guess that only shows how boring my life is now, then, huh? ha ha. Seriously, for any of us who were part of this great era, you know what I mean. It was SO MUCH FUN.
@petalrs This song was actually only recorded by Peter and Micky. Davy had some kind of disagreement over the song and decided to play no part in the recording. So whenever they would perform it live back in the 80s, Davy would go backstage during this one song. I think much later, he stopped doing that though.

Does anyone know where Davy was during this? Was he absent for just this video or the whole concert?

@banglebabe1 Oh, thank you for that :) I wonder if Davy still receives royalties for it though??? I wonder what the disagreement was?
petalrs 3 months ago
@petalrs I can't imagine Davy ever receiving any kind of royalties for this seeing that he didn't write it, play it or record it.
