Article 1, Section 9, Clause 2 - "The Privilege of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it."
Article 10 - "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
The Unitied States government was not granted the power to suspend the Great Writ by the Constituion and has no such power.
People need to fucking wake up. There is a reason for this shit. Habeas Corpus is suspended, and under the patriot act the president can fucking declare martial law for any reason, and it can't be reviewed for 6 fucking months! And to top this shit off, there are fucking 3 large FEMA Gulags in every fucking state that are EMPTY, WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK THEY ARE GOING TO CRAM IN THERE!?
Behold a shining example of what cable news should be. Politics aside, Olbermann's monologue is passionate without being a rant (looking at you, O'Reilly), full of well researched historical precedent, apt comparisons, and personal relevance to the viewer. Well done.
"The power of the Executive to cast a man in prison without formulating any charge known to the law, and particularly to deny him the judgment of his peers is in the highest degree odious and is the foundation of all totalitarian government, whether Nazi or Communist."
As a Muslim, seeing and hearing this - bravo. Bravo, for the courage to speak out, to have courage to speak true. You have put the American people in our eyes, as people of honour. At last, someone speaking truth. Thanks.
Olbermann for president!

8:07... I'd DEFINITELY call Obama an irresponsible president. Oops... shouldn't have said that... might get detained for it.

Wow! Truly brilliant. Compare with your typical O'Reilly rant (sorry, "monologue"). It's easy to see where all the talent lies in cable news.
