  • I am NEVER eating marshmellows again! Do you know what gelatine is? It's cow and pig skins and bones boiled and then ground down to a dust. Oh yeah, that's delicios!

  • @ISkateBackwardsHelp Yes it is a substance derived from the processing of animal collagen (the same naturally occurring stuff that makes chicken, fish and other meats tasty.) It is used in gravies, soups, yogurts, ice creams, candies, gums, frosted foods, marshmallows, puddings, hot dogs, jams, jellies, poptarts etc. It's also used as a coating for medicinal tablets and caplets. And found in toothpastes, shampoos, hair gels, mascara, etc. And it also helps with athletes' joints. Enjoy!

  • Alton Brown, one of the greatest culinary minds of all time!!! He should be the scientific iron chef he knows just about every ingredient.

  • He said, "your shizz," but they made him change it.

  • What does he actually say at 9:41? It looks like they dubbed the word "speed" in.

  • In the beginning, I can hear a child crying...It's weird.

  • I'm glad this broad isn't in the newer seasons as much !

  • hey whats wrong with smores and roasting mallows i for a fact love em

  • I WANT A MARASHMELLOW BUSH! THAT BE AHAHAAWESOME!

  • Me want marshmellaw

  • Culinary napalm haha.

  • made these once, they are messy and stick to everything. worth it? HELL YES!

  • aww his daughter looks like she's having so much fun ^_^

  • Can I lick the wisk attachment

  • just so you guys know, if you make the syrup in a wide enough pot, you can add 1/3 cup of cocoa powder and make the best chocolate marshmallows, and for shits and giggles, add in roasted skinned almonds to make an orgasmic candy

  • did anyone catch the name of the book, let alone author mentioned at ~2:14?

  • 4:33 Alton, I'm ashamed of you!!

    YOU SPELLED NOUGAT WRONG!! LOL

  • It's been enjoyable watching Zoey Brown grow up on camera from her first appearance in the honey episode as an infant through toddlerhood in the donut episode to her grade-school self in this episode. Yep...that's Alton's daughter.

  • My sister has made these successfully without corn syrup and they turned out great! Just in case anybody was thinking about that.

  • @Celestyal22 You don't have to use corn syrup, but you're more likely to have crystals grow and mess up your syrup. It's easier to just put the corn syrup in at the beginning and not worry about it for most people.

  • I wish I could afford a stand mixer. I hate being a poor college student.

  • Amen to that. And living in a dorm, even if I could get one for Christmas, where would I keep one... I miss making cookies, cakes, pizza dough...

  • @MasterAchilles Look on craigslist! There are a lot there. I ended up asking around and one of my friends had one his parents didn;t use. I got it for free with some trade work! :) Got some old food processors from my boss for free. Ask around!

  • I got lucky. My roommate has one. He didn't have a whisk or glass or stainless steel bowls, though... kind of seems like those things are kind of essential.

  • I love his face before the good eats song intro comes on xD

  • WOAH WOAH WOAH! Where'd AB's hot rod flame stand mixer go? :(

  • and what's with the blured out front of the mixer?

  • It might be covering up the brand of the mixer

  • brand affiliation

  • I like to think that it is in his garage up on bricks while he re-gears its transmission.

  • That was a Kitchen-Aid Stand Mixer. Like Emeril needed to switch to a more powerful stand mixer, Alton got himself a Viking, a very sweet mixer indeed.

    -Ara

  • Those viking models are really expensive though. Alton's a professional so him getting one is justified.

  • @DrFGeek his evil twin brother stole it again

  • yeah, but i think you should check his puff pastry episode, that's where they are calling you too

  • I like how at 6:10 he rises up along with the camera.

  • Alton Brown my FAVORITE all-time chef!

I want to be a chef like him....and I plan to meet him someday....

  • what does that tounge say???

  • my sister thought the taste bud was hilarious so did I

  • I thought Alton didn't like marshmallows.

  • I'm assuming ya got that from "Art of Darkness II"

He doesn't like marshmallows in his hot cocoa because he's a purist. And when he said to Cocoa Carl that he was allergic to them... he was trying not to drink Carl's nasty hot cocoa XD Just thought I'd point that out.

  • Loved that episode... LOVE THIS ONE TOO!!!

  • And he also says "Why do I like mini marshmallows? Because they're so gosh darn good in a cup of cocoa!"

I watch so much Good Eats I can even tell when they over voice corrections.... I can also cook well.

Thank you Alton, you made me survive college

  • just not in his hot chocolate

  • what do you call this thing in English that he uses for measuring sticky stuff (like corn syrup)?

  • It is a "plunger" type measuring cup.

  • Pampered chef has some.

  • or if you can't find that device, i suggesr coating the measuring cup with a little oil or just use a spatula. either way it'll work.

  • Haha he tries so hard not to laugh after rushing back to the camera in the beginning.

  • He almost had me convinced that marshmallows grew on bushes.

  • omg IS THAT HIS DAUGHTER? (the fairy that turned the starch to sugars)

  • Even if she wasn't she was a little cutie.

  • Yes I think it is.

  • it should definitely be! she's so cute!

  • Yep, she's grown quite a bit since she first appeared in Comb Alone.

  • ZOMG MARSHMALLOWS
