Talked with Dick Dale after a 1998 show in Orlando for the best part of an hour. The club ended up pulling the power at closing time so the staff could go home -- dude didn't want to stop playing! While the crew was taking the equipment down, I spoke with him about -- of all things -- airplanes! Turns out he knew my grandma back in NorCal (she was a pilot). Our conversation was cut short when the club closed the doors! Heck of a nice guy. Still have the (mutilated!) pick he gave me.
