incredible. when i first saw the dwarf dancing in Coop's dream in season 1, i thought it was funny and absurd and i laughed. but when that guy comes out from that curtain in this scene doing that dance, laughter is absolutely the furthest thing from my mind.
@Davesghola I don't think that would have happened (ending up like lost), being the product of Lynch and Frost.
And the show would have been better (even if it's my fav one right now) if ABC did what Lynch wanted, if the relevation of bob wouln't have been so rushed.
I can't believe some Americans never even heard of this series! I got literally obsessed with the show and I was only 11 in 1994 when it aired in Ukraine.(I lived in Ukraine at that time still). I was sooo hooked on it and I loved the mystery and the bizarre scenes in the show. I guess I was just mature and didn't like kids shows but i'm so happy I discovered this show. Its still a mystery to me. What is Black Lodge? Is Bob really an evil ghost that goes inside certain people's bodies?
@Davesghola I love when shows run for a finite amount of time, but this could have lasted another season. It was so perfect. And as for Lost I loved that show and thought it was great throughout. I liked the ending.
@snesguru it was cancelled because of a few reasons. First, the show was a serial and you had to watch all the episodes in order to understand it and that alienated many people. Second, the time slot keep changing in the second season and that made it difficult for people to follow. Third, the show was way ahead of it's time. The critics loved the show, but mainstream America thought it was confusing and bizarre. Last, I think Frost and Lynch wanted the show to only run for a finite time.
Image a place beyond imagination and logic. A place like no other on earth, more cosy than your most woderfull dreams and darker than your worst nightmares. Can you see that special town?
"Beyond Life and Death" is an absolutely perfect name for this episode. This beyond reality, and hits my subconscious in such a way, it really does set the mood for the Black Lodge. In my opinion, Cooper should have never returned to Twin Peaks, and Annie should have returned dead. But that's just me.
When the Man from Another Place comes from out of the curtain and that sax plays... you look at Cooper and you can almost tell that he knows this is the end of the road
That's pretty much the reason I think this is the creepiest/freakiest scene in the whole show.
Yes Cooper's dream is kind of freaky, and so is Maddie's death. But I could imagine BOB and the Man from Another Place being metaphors for things and just the imagination, right up until he walks from behind the curtain. :(
The cricket at the end is a nice touch.
