your guitar string tuners not fast enough you gonna need some serious gpm to get that going a lot better and some better servos to stop more accurately on the notes
Like the exhaust-air-bubbles-in-lab-bottles-filled-with-water-for-cool-looking-effect-but-probably-are-made-as-a-silencer-and-had-no-reason-to-be-on-the-table-at-all-piece..
due to it's a sort of robotic liquid-powered system strength of motion is fixed but if it could be variable let say control pressure valve was installed to smooth actuators motion it would have sounded more naturally like a human finger but it all ahead.Excellent performance !
Kind of like listening to my lil brother play guitar hero when he has head phones on. Why don't they spend the millions invested in this on something worth while? Wow we can make hydraulics strum a guitar who knew. Except for everyone on earth who has ever heard of hydraulics. I am sure if you went back in time this would have been amazing. sorry
This will have been someones pet project, just for interests sake and been made from spare parts cheaply. Sure it's not as good as a human player, I'm fairly sure the maker didn;t think it would be, they just made it for fun. Lighten up.
ha that probably explains it then :P slightly out of tune, or maybe that's just because there doesn't appear to be any kind of amp setup, but still a recognisable tune :)
tuned the guitar... at least some of the other mechanical and animated instruments have a pleasant sound. Interesting to hear some people praise the music... we need to restore art and music programs in the schools!
I have a life and I have long hair, are you making unpleasant implications that all human beings with long hair have such because their lives are bleak? I love Techno music, as well as other genres of music; Just because I have long hair doesn't mean I listen to metal.
oh. this is just great. i can see it now. when robot take over. they will use all our instruments. and never give them back to us. oh, just fukkin great.
and see kids, if you study hard at your science projects you to can spend thousands of dollars making a horribly out of tune useless guitar that runs on water, or club soda, or what ever the fuck it is.
hmmm... another person making fun of something he (or she) doesnt understand. Perhaps instead of the jokes, you could congradulate the guitar player who is smart enough to do this?
AHHHHH so out of tune. It's not even a guitar. The strings already have a note to them and there is no fret board. I mean, its cool and all, but it just doesn't do it for me.
will you damn scientist leave musical instruments alone!? stop trying to design instruments to be played by machines when you havent even spoken to a trained muscian on how it should be played. just because it looks like our hands move in a mundane way does not mean they do, there is a lot more to playing music then just hitting the string with the pic. this is complete and utter crap youve essentially hocked up midi to hydraulics i am NOT impressed
It shouldn't really be a called a guitar though, given that there's no fretboard.. But what else would you call it I guess, lol.. Is there any other stringed instrument that is played mainly by adjusting the tension in the strings?
Very cool, yeah thoe, if the strings wern't stretched on struming it would sound soooo much better, and I also think it would be cool to try and incorporate the mechanical clicks as drum beats... they almost sound like it already in some parts.
the picks are oriented the wrong way, and are adding a lot to the poor intonation by stretching the string before it is released, as well as adding a lot of un-musical noise.
They need to hit the strings with the plane of the pick at nearly right angles to the strings and need to be set so that they don't hook or stretch the strings but brush them like a cam lobe.
This is like Mel Bay beginner guitar instruction book page two stuff, and speaks a lot to the background research on this project.
great imagination, inspiring...you obviously put a lot of work into it...weird overtones though, no damping mechanism? As a guitar player, I've always been gratified to know that a guitar STRUM in one of the hardest things to synthesize. Especially up and down rhythmic strumming...too much random shit going on - keep up the good work, though...fascinating
The softwareupdate is almost finished. After that the guitar will tune itself automatically. Even the friction based errors will be put in a lookup table. Recent tests are showing decent results.
@persiaruler it's pretty cool.....too bad the sound couldn't be little more in tune...there are probably issues within it's self right there though, being in water.....
Of course you are right! As it is set up right now, it is out of tune. And as one can imagine it is the friction that gives us quite some trouble. But wait until we got our new flatwound strings, the measurement of the friction done and a FFT, that gives us a chance to calculate the friction while tuning the guitar.
