Actually, this is a traditional Celtic tune and doesn't belong exclusively to " Pride of the County Down". The Chieftains use it but you can attach any words you want to it. There's even an Israeli singer who wrote words and adapted this music for his song. Isn't Loreena the greatest singer? I'm a Jew and I can listen for hours to her Christmas albums, and her Celtic music is the Best!

This is a familiar melody to me or so it seems. It was the accompaniment to a version of the classic, John Barleycorn. This song touches two parts of myself. The spiritually pagan (pre-christian), and my christian background.

Just as the Alhambra is a place of spiritual crossroads, this song with its blended theme and melodies have caused me to internalize the sensation of "spiritual companionship." Thank You!
