Every president is a puppet...of the American people. Stop forgetting that, stop blaming the president, and start doing something about your future. Be an American, don't just bitch about America.
@somewhathumanlike Child, you're throwing out terms you clearly don't understand. So, again I repeat: Your intelligence is stupid. Stop before you hurt yourself.
@Metzae Now you're just blatant marginalizing me because of my age without even trying to make an argument. Good job.
You committed the just-world fallacy - you said something that presumes that the electoral system in the US is unbiased and lacks any sort of corruption or deceit. You do not try to explain how you are not committing this fallacy, instead you simply insult me. In short, you are awful at debating.
@somewhathumanlike Wrong. I'm perfectly capable of it. I'm just having more fun playing with you. I don't even know how old you are. You're just acting like a child. Don't scold me about fallacies without explaining them first. Anyway, I didn't even claim what you said. Soooooo, your intelligence is stupid.
@somewhathumanlike Before you get too upset, just learn to let it go. You're obviously not stupid, and we are not debating. We're having a half-assed internet flame war. Let's treat it that way! :D
@Metzae That's not relevant. I wasn't sure how serious you were. The point is that you say something that's making a serious point and then when someone points out a flaw in it, you try and divert attention.
@somewhathumanlike Who's overgeneralizing now? You didn't even point out a flaw of what I said. Your just-world fallacy suggestion just proves you completely missed my original point, and since you had nothing else to back up your accusation I dismissed it outright. I've continued to try to enlighten you to the fact that you're fighting a futile fight, but you just don't seem to get it. You're the only one playing thing game, and no one reading this discussion cares. Not even me.
@somewhathumanlike Nowhere in my statement did I reference the American voting system, nor did I say that it wasn't corrupt. Your just-world fallacy is a straw man. I thought it was obvious.
@PerfectDecalibration This is a video of pieces of President Barack Obama's speech on November 4th after he won the presidential election, with Radiohead in the background. I thought it was rather obvious....
0:40 is a roflmao. Our ideals of democracy, liberty, and a government by the people and for the people? Where is all that liberty, democracy and government for the people now? Not in Washington.
We the people of the United States reject you Obama, not because of color but because of our founding principles . You may take alot of things from us but you will never take our FREEDOM>>>>>>>>>
@pharoe83 but the majority america still likes Obama....
so you are hardly "The People".....
I'm a libertarien I don't believe in big goverment, and it's funny republicans say the same thing when they still support the drug war, and no gay marrige, also the fact is he hasn't really been able to get anything done, how can you say he's against our "founding principles" when he hasn't done anything?
Being from Scotland i'm not sure what it is that Obama is doing wrong, but lots of American's have turned on him. Could someone please clarify what is going on?
well mostly the fact that the things he "promised to do on or near his first day in office still havent got done. No health care reforms still, plus what he has done (which was get a pet dog) somehow got him the nobel peace prize
Ah, he does have 4 years though (i think, if it's the same in the US), so the "change" he promised may take some time to develop but as always time will tell.
Do you support his idea of single payer health insurance?
Do you support the idea of raising electricity prices to the point that poor people could possibility not afford it? His ideas for Cap-n-Trade will make so many things we enjoy much more expensive to all Americans. What Obama policies can we actually put hope in that it will in turn help us? His tongue is make of pure silver but his heart and mind are black as coal.
2. Obama is not pushing for a single payer health system.
3. That is not the case, you are just repeating right wing talking points, but I do not think letting Wall Street manage our pollution is a logical way to handle the massive crisis of our environment, so I do not support the Cap-n-Trade bill.
4. If his heart and mind are be pure, but the rest of the system is black as coal, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
I don't follow right wing talking points. It is just common sense that cap and trade will result in higher energy prices, even Obama has stated that. I'm glad to hear you do not support that bill.
Obama has back-peddled and said that he doesn't "really" support single payer but he has stated in the past he would like to see an overall transition to single payer.
I personally don't want gov. intervention into healthcare at all.
The idea behind cap-n-trade is that the extra money energy companies make from trading pollution/carbon credits, they will be able to invest in new forms of energy, which will keep prices lower. If they do not invest in new forms of energy, yes, prices will go up, but other companies will be able to fill in that gap. Either way, we need to stop pollution immediately, or start investing a lot more in NASA, because we will all need to get off this planet in our lifetimes.
Obama hasn't supported single-payer for many years. It is the only solution to the healthcare problem, but taking on the powerful interests (pharma, insurance, hospitals) is to much for anyone to do at this point in history.
And we already have an extreme amount of government intervention into our healthcare system. From medicare, to the FDA, to insurance regulations, hospitals, etc.... We are currently letting private industry profit, while the government pays, and the public get crappy care.
Proof of what? That cap and trade will raise energy prices considerably? You can take that directly from the presidents mouth. "Under a cap and trade plan, energy prices would necessarily skyrocket." B.O. Bama
Really it's just common sense that if you charge companies a carbon emission tax they will have to pass the added costs of production on to the consumer (you). I guess maybe unless the government already owns the company....
I don't see how people here are disregarding Obamas own words.
"in celebration of nov 5th amid bonfire and fireworks in the UK and the dawn of a new era in politics in the USA i humbly donate a remix of harrowdown hill that was finished ages ago during the band webcasts, a small reminder of the dark days of Bush's...."
Putting all your hope in one man is never right, but hoping that he can and will be better then the past seems to be universal...
uve mised the point of this. national anthem is a completely anti-political song (hence the ironic ''national anthem'') it doesn't matter whether it's bush, mccain or obama...
you completely missed the point of the video.... We living in a world run by leaders, and this leader (Obama) is clearly a change from the leaders we have had in the past... Inspiring, not fear mongering.
radiohead fan and obama voter here... how do we know he won't be another bush? he only wants to 'revise' the patriot act which is a biggie.. eh. nevertheless i'll vote for him again just to stave off another Dubya
i don't think smart people can get away with the same type of stuff bush did... like gore would never have gotten the patriot act passed and if he had the republicans would be playing their anti-govt card a lot more than liberals can
also, fox news is a lot more malicious and ad hominum tabloid shit than the left media
This has got to be tongue-in-cheek. Radiohead are certainly against the kinds of things Obama's done.
Get Ron Paul in here.
