If you look at the way his eyes shift, you can tell this is definitely sped up. That, and if you watch his hands playing that fast compared to someone actually playing that fast, his hands look very unnatural when they're playing. Just remember, how fast you play isn't everything!
Obviously you're a decent player, but this little solo of yours might as well have been played on a regular 6-string guitar since you're not really using the extra string at all. For melody-wise inspiring 8-string playing I'd suggest checking out Tosin Abasi; for real heavy rhythmic use of the lower strings I'd check out either Fredrik Thordendal or Marten Hagstrom. This pentatonic heavy metal shredding really doesn't do the guitar you're holding justice imho.

First of all, the flash on the monitor depends on how offset the refresh rate of the monitor is from the frame rate of the camera. Second, his hair doesnt move fast. Third, blinking is generally fast. Fourth, his had movement is clean. Fifth, you cant just speed up a video without distorting the sound at all.

First of all, the flash on the monitor depends on how offset the refresh rate of the monitor is from the frame rate of the camera. Second, his hair doesnt move fast. Third, blinking is generally fast. Fourth, his had movement is clean. Fifth, you cant just speed up a video without distorting the sound at all.

The clip was less than a minute long. He never said he was gonna demonstrate the full range of an 8-string or that he was gonna shred multiple scales/modes. You had an unreasonable expectation and sound very insecure over his young, exceptional ability to play.

man some of these commentors are lame. you judge a kids playing entirely by a 48 second clip? that's pretty dumb. i have an eight string and some times when i'm not playing low metal or bass lines, i use it for 6 string arrangements. just cuz u got 8 strings doesn't mean u have to switch to a 6 string to play a standard tuned song. it's his guitar, he can do what he wants, and he's better than most of you.
