I just wonder how they can decide to make a phone this good overall and forget all about the camera interface, functions, flash and lens cover. I would expect something like this to come with at least 8MP camera or more.

Anyone knows if there is any rumors about a upgrade / new model (like Hero2) coming out during Q4 this year?

I like this phone overall, but due to the low camera standard - I will most likely not buy it.

Having 8MPixs in a phone is worthless. Even 3 are enough.

Phones are not cameras, they should be used to capture the moment, not to take pictures and make posters of them.

Spare the money and buy a good camera besides buying a phone.

Also, in the grand scheme of things how important is camera functionality on a mobile phone? And don't forget that Android 2.0 will be coming to the Hero soon, and considering the camera quality is no doubt more of a software issue HTC may well be implementing something better for 2.0

No, just the white one. The white is the only one with the teflon coating.

Build quality is very good indeed. Feels solid, nice weight to it. Only thing I didn't like was the way the battery cover snaps on/off.

Mainly, is it a problem with plan pricing and carrier or do you truly believe this phone is better in performance than the iphone?

Well, update for you. I am no longer switching. I was wooed by the superb SenseUI, the awesome design, android apps, all good. However, now I am sticking with my iPhone. I guess I am just too much of a fanboy.

HTC Hero does a lot right and it trumps the iPhone with live update widgets for Mail and the like. iPhone is swifter and easier to use for me and performs better, but Apple need to listen up and get some new UI improvements to stay ahead of the game.

16GB according to HTC, though I would think that 32GB would work.
