To me this was one of the most haunting scenes of the movie. I do believe that death is not a very bad thing... but seeing him lifeless, and unnoticed/uncared for, going into the darkness of the night really made me sad. Especially since he had quite a few unfufilled desires when he died.

The director here captures that the death doesn't have to be ugly but rather serene and sublime. The beautiful music is by Arvo Part. Part's music was also used as a theme song in Emma Thompson's film "Wit".
