The fights are fucking epic now. And Shinji still is the most insecure and angsty protagonist ever, only beaten by the original. Now he has some cool moments too, and i dont think thats bad.

Of course the second movie made MANY changes, because it was supposed to do so.

@aaroncoward Really? Give some reasons when you say crap like that. If anything, despite missing some crucial character-building, which you have to expect of a movie, I think "this movie" brought the EVA fights up to a level which is very very impressive visually, whilst any character changes it has make character more believable. When Anno made NGE, he needed to be extreme to get the point across; thus the whole, "OMG Shinji is a sook, as if you would cry that much." In the 90's, that worked.

@aaroncoward In this day though, it makes a lot of people hate him, and makes him somewhat unbelieveable, because is "too sooky" to be realistic. Thus, the movie manned him up. Various changes to various benefits were made like this. Another example would be Asuka being more vulnerable to change (E.g. when at the end of the sahaquiel fight, she takes in a lesson)

@MaestroAlvis You can notice that those aren't ramps. Those objects encircle a town, so, we can easily conclude that they are some kind of barriers meant to shelter the town. Misato improvised quite brilliantly.
