  • This is so cute :)

  • Cute. Awesome

  • Thems my kind of birds. I like birds that like to play around. It's relaxing to see them happy and having fun. I have two budgies, one is all about her toys and the other one is all about... me. He's a "clingy bird". or a "Bird Barnacle" But little guys like these... they're like little balls of condensed happy, aren't they?

  • we just got a parrolete from the animals shelter we renamed him Jalapeno we adore him already!

  • Do they naturally have short tails like that?

  • Birds are great!

  • I meant SAD

  • It's dad that he died- you morons- not that he's cute and plays with toys

  • i have this same type of bird !

    but he is EVIL!

  • first off, nice video.

i have a parrotlet, but all she likes playing with is computer keys..

    yours is too cute.

and your camera is AMAZING, where did you get it?

  • whats the difference between a parrotlet and a lovebird? i want to get a bird and dont know whether or not to get a single lovebird or a single parrotlet! please help!!

  • @shobu7777 I have two lovebirds, got the second one a month ago, my female is my first, she can be fiesty, but is still a sweet bird, she loves being around people. lovebirds are a little bigger then the parrotlet

  • he looks like MY bird "yoshi"

  • I love how he starts walking away from the balls as soon as you call someone else to come see him.

  • He"s got game!

  • Thanks a lot very good video!

  • That's a REALLY cute little parrotlet! Thanks for posting!!

btw, do Parrotlets talk? I have had two lovebirds (years apart), neither of whom "spoke," and have had budgies (also separately), both of which did talk.

  • My baby parrotlet learnt to play with his ball after watching your video, believe it or not! hehe. Pizzapete's so adorable :)

  • Ok so I either want a Parrotlet or a lovebird, but I don't know which one to choose. Which one makes a better pet?

  • @riverajm2

parrotlets become tame, lovebirds generally don't

i'd go with the parrotlets (you MUST keep at least 2, keeping only 1 is cruel)

  • @biologyfuckyeah i only have one parrotlet. I've had her for about 3 years now. I never knew keeping only one was cruel. She seems fine to me.

  • @TopRamenKickAss

over here it's actually forbidden to keep any kind of parrot alone, and with good reason

while it can work to keep one happy parrot, you have to devote practically all your time

in the wild, mates never seperate

    you are his mate

so unless you have him with you at all times, it will distress him

how well he puts up with it is up to the individual bird, species & the duration of your absence

also, he might perceive your spouse as a threat because he thinks you are his mate

  • @biologyfuckyeah interesting infomation, thanks. i wouldn't mind buying another parrotlet for it to be mates with. But with her being the only bird for so long, i don't how well she would handle sharing her cage with another parrotlet. I would hate to buy one, only to have her become aggressive towards it or something like that. And then have to buy another cage and all.

  • @TopRamenKickAss

yeah, if you've been keeping her alone for a few years and you have lots of time for her it might be for the better to continue keeping her alone

plus, from what i've heard, parrotlets and parakeets cope better with the lack of a same-species partner than the large parrots

the latter may start tearing their own feathers or even chunks if flesh out after a few years of solitude, but i've never heard of a parrotlet/parakeet doing that

best of luck to you & your parrotlet!

  • @biologyfuckyeah

Where are you located that it's forbidden to keep only one parrot? I've never heard of that!

From my experience, it seems birds will bond with another bird or a human. My lil' bird copes just fine while I'm at work. He happily sits on my shoulder or in my clothing the moment I get home, though :)

  • @MapleBok

    I live in Austria

i wanted to get a parrot some time ago and checked the laws

it's definitely forbidden over here and in Germany, and there's also some groups protesting against keeping only one parrot (even though it's forbidden 60% of parrots are still kept alone)

keeping one bird only is totally not acceptable for the larger parrots.

it might be for the smaller ones, not sure about that. still, turn on the radio or something when he's alone so he won't get bored.

  • I have a yellow ball like that for my bird too! I got it from a set of cat toys lol

  • Cute and fun birds when kept alone. They can be vicious with other birds though. My parrotlet bit the toe off my budgie just because the budgie was playing with what the parrotlet perceived as his toy. They can be very possesive and are prone to jealousy.

  • He's sliding around 2 much on the table. Cute vid though.

  • i want one of those cute tthings!!!!

  • This is the best pit I have ever had. Affectionate, bold, playful, and just cute.

  • HOW PREICIOUS!!!

  • navysealinthemaking: Try raw spinach. My birds eat that, It's easy for them to just bite off a piece and munch on it!

  • ah thank you very much i tried it and he loves it

  • can you tell me how to get mine to eat fruits its really hard to get em to eat fresh foods advise please thanks

  • What a cute bird.

  • iv been lookin at these i think they look cool, i have a cockiteil like half a year old, would one of these go ok with it?? its a girl if that changes anything

  • I know where i can shove that shotgun and make u fly :)

  • Aww PizzaPete! He's not gonna make another video. Also have you guys found PizzaPip'n yet?

  • OMG what a cutie pie! I have one too such tiny little characters! Thank you for sharing :)

  • aww i want one!! they are darling!

  • so cute^^

  • i have one too, hes blue

  • Are those specifically toys for parrots, or are they cat toys?

  • they all look like actual bird toys to me. I bought some of those for my birds

  • The yellow one with the bell inside is a cat toy, I got the exact same pack from Wal*Mart.. lol. The little wicker balls, I ordered some of those from a bird supply website, but you could probably find something similar in a decor store. It's funny what can be used for a bird toy. :)

  • I think their forpus who are very well ... I am of peru and also had a pair of forpus unfortunately I escaped ... and what was most sad could have happened in my life, because I loved him like you loved their forpus. Leslie of Peru.

  • Why exactly are they called parrotletts? BEcause they are just baby parrots? or do they just stay that small forever?

  • They are small parrots. Scientific name is forpus.

  • those r adults actually. they stay that small forever.

  • That is awesome. I will definately be getting one of those once out of the house!!

  • They stay small forever they grow to about 5 inches!!SO CUTE

  • Aw, I was hoping mine would grow bigger so that he doesn't blend into the carpet so much

  • can u guys tell me which bird is better budie or parrolet n explain y cuz i am plannign on trading my 6 budgie for 2 parrolet

  • What was sad?? Gae

  • Pipn killed his brother Squeak

  • @fortunmakr It's not sad for parrotlets to have toys...it would be totally unfair if they didn't have any.

  • i love that brid my budgi is going crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyy lolllll

  • Hi amber! I had two brothers once and the good news is Pipn' did bond to me but the down side was I had a 3rd bird in the mix (big, big mistake) as Pipn' fell for BB and Pipn' then killed his brother, Squeak. Ask Boombella about 2 birds as she has brothers also. One just died but don't think it because of Beanie Bird. Gae

  • Whoa..r u serious he killed him? thats crazy yeah i am on the fence of getting 2. I know Iwant one for sure want one thats easy.another question..i used to have a white cap pionus and did not ever have his wings clipped..since he was an excellent flyer..should i clip the parrolets wings?cuz im not sure there either..thanks

  • Hi Oamber! Betcha I'm serious about Squeaks; worst thing I had ever seen. We were eating breakfast and Squeaks was missing (they always fly in together) so I went look in the living room and saw the vicious attack. No sound or anything. Personally, I would always let my parrotlets fly...long stories. Gae

  • Yes. Sadly, Pipn' viciously killed Squeak because Pipn' had made him an outcase. Never have 3 parrotlets where they can get at each other. A hard lesson learned. I'm thinking of getting a bunch of people together and have a group chat group, what do you think? I can write all my subscribers and see who would like to join. Gae

  • I think you should do that!! :)))))

  • @gaethiel

"Pipn' viciously killed Squeak because Pipn' had made him an outcase. "

I would have wrung Pipn's neck then and there. There's no way would I still want to have a bird around that killed another.
