I don't think he was making fun of WCW, if anything, he was paying homage to some of the all time greats (who just happened to be wrestling in WCW, at the time).
HBK was never anybody's bitch, he was ALWAYS the Leader and never a follower. He was the WWF Commissioner at this time meaning he called the shots and made the matches.
@fmthebaron Shawn Michaels, in reality, along with Mark Calloway (The Undertaker) are two of the biggest "McMahon suckups" you'll ever find. To be honest though, that's not really a bad thing. I know it has a bad stigma because people claim those things as the biggest reasons why guys like John Cena suck, but there's wwe fan nation perception, and then there's reality, and the reality is that there's nothing wrong with it at all. The reality is Vince is god when it comes to pro-wrestling.
@Sneezlebob You notice I have "McMahon suckups" in quotes don't you? The point I'm getting at is that doing what McMahon tells you labels you as a suckup among the fans, but in real life doing what your boss tells you is called DOING YOUR JOB. All the best did their job when they were supposed to do it. Look at Randy Savage, there's a guy that was humble and always did what he was told to without a (backstage) ego, and treated like s**t. Calloway has done the same thing, but was treated better.
@Sneezlebob It's a good thing too, because if 10 years ago McMahon had told Taker to retire from wrestling and become a commentator Taker would have left too and then blacklisted by McMahon. What Taker would not have done, was get in a fight with McMahon and spit in his face, or talk s**t about him in an interview with some other organization, etc. like Hogan or Angle or Hart have done.
@RicoLen1 Yea and what really would have sucked about Taker is he wouldn't have been able to play that character anywhere else. He wouldn't have even been allowed to play a character even similar to that and who could have seen him being anything other than the Undertaker? I guess he could have gone back to being Mean Mark or something but it wouldn't have been the same. At least Hogan, Hart, and Angle could still be themselves where ever they went. Taker couldn't do that.
@Antrizzle2009 Yeah I definitely don't think taker is a suckup, OR Shawn Michaels, yet by the definition most people go by, HBK & Taker are the biggest suckups ever, along with The Rock. Fans just don't realize that the whole suckup thing is just a thing wrestlers call out in a show to get over, not actually something that's real.
@twoot2 Lex Luger and Ric Flair both started in WCW so it's alright for them to return. Ultimate Warriors, Macho Man, Hulk Hogan, and Mr. Perfect all had conflicts with WWF at the time so they left for a better alternative. Bret Hart didn't really want to leave the WWF but the lack of communication in regards to how he will drop his title and the Montreal Screwjob had seal the deal for him to be in WCW.
@blueswan1984 Hart had already signed with WCW cuz WWF at tue time coudlnt match the offer Turner adn WCW gave him. The screwjob happened because he wuldnt wanna loose the title at a ppv.
@sidekickkid89 screwjob happened because Vince was scared that Bret went to wcw with the title, but my opinion is that he wanted to disgrace Bret furthermore so that he didn't make much impact in rival federation wcw
@Jay12345able Stone Cold, The Rock and Mcmahons were garbage and never outshone shit. Warrior and Hogan made more money for WWF than Rock and Stone Cold x10. Wrestling was the biggest when Warrior fought Hogan. Jay1234 is a little kid who doesn't know his history. Look at where WWE is now. It is a joke.
@TheWCWite no dumbass Stone Cold sold more WWF than any other wrestler in history thats a fact. You were just so caught up in your nostalgic childhood days from the late 80's to realize the biggest wrestling boom was in the late 90's with Austin and The Rock. Know your history. I lived it as well.
@TheWCWite really not wrong. You can spew your conspiracy theory's all day but you just sound like an idiot. It's really actually quite stupid. late 90's more records, video games, t-shirts, and ppv buyrates were sold than ever. Wrestling was everywhere. Appearing on every channel. the late 80's brought the first novelty of the whole extravaganza being huge but the late 90's were unparalleled and explosive. Sure Austin wasn't as exposed as the top face, and the wwf regrets that, but way bigger
@TheWCWite and don't think i'm choosing sides with my favorite wrestlers, because I absoloutley despise The Rock think he turned WWE into a joke, and my favorite wrestlers of all time are Roddy Piper(good to see him on monday), Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair, Bret Hart, early Shawn Michaels, Foley, Bigalow, Funk and a huge amount of others I shouldn't even name because most people will go (who?) granted one of those is the hard and fast fisted 'Road Dogg" Jesse James.
IIRC, he also did Bret Hart's "I am the best there is, the best there was & the best there ever will be" line right after the Macho Man one. Which had HBK laughing.
No they never wrestled. Their contact was limited to this feud here, and at the very first Smackdown where HBK was special referee in a match between Rock and Triple H. HBK superkicked Rock as he went for the People's Elbow to win the match.
The Rock and HBK had a long history where Rock disliked HBK for supposedly disrespecting his family, on top what happened with the Harts (who Rock greatly respects) and backstage politics from when Rock and Triple H first came to WWE.
@MrMobsterking these are all probaly silly red neck kids who still think the rock cares about his fans and aint just a money hungry lug head who would blow his wrestling fans off (again)# if he got a worth while movie offer and prioritise it well above wrestling unlike one of the guys this idiot did one of his worse insult to booker t who always prioritised the fans above money like many wcw guys
@RiPTheRevAx7 Yeah that why he's going to be spending his birthday on Raw entertaining his MILLION & MILLIONS of Fans. Sounds to me like you should know your role & shut your mouth Asshole.
@RiPTheRevAx7 Well Damn name me one WWE Superstar who appears for free. John Cena gets paid as does everyone even the guest hosts got paid so i don't what your damn problem is I mean you Bitch because The Rock left & you Bitch because The Rock is gonna get paid to make an appearence on Raw on his Birthday. Do you even realize how Stupid you come off as or does it just come natural to you?
@Danielson184 fabulous moolahh, mae young , bobby heanon appear time to time for free and the guest hosts get paid to watch what they say on a highly public family program show (the few who do get paid) if you are to stuped to realise that and you call me stuped then you are one very special little boy
@RiPTheRevAx7 Did you ever think that Moolah, Young & Heenan don't really help the ratings with their appearences but Rock on the other hand garnered interest from fans who had lost all hope with WWE & the rating went up a whole damn point. Now that Rock's gone the rating is back to it's normal, Rock's a Big star & People will actually pay to see him. Can you say the same for those names you mentioned? HELL NO!
@Danielson184 LOL ofcourse mae young moolah and heenan bring in rating but from the fans of wwf when the wrestling fights was real and less story behind it
the fans the rock brings in are what a bunch of kids and stuped adults who still live at home with there mum the majority of whitch still dont get that wrestling is story lined for the most part lol
@RiPTheRevAx7 LMAO It's common knowledge that Pro Wrestling is Scripted (Fake) & I can tell you that I'm an adult & I don't live with my parents & I guarantee you that there are millions of other Rock fans just like myself so I don't really know what you're talking about. That shouldn't matter though it really doesn't matter what kind of Viewer Rock brings in all that matters is that he bring in a lot more viewers. As far as Heenan & the others being able to draw ratings I highly doubt that.
@Danielson184 Cont... At least not enough to make much of a difference. I really don't get your dislike for The Rock, is it cuz your a Cena Fan? I mean what possible reason do you have for not liking one of the greatest of all time?
@RiPTheRevAx7 I actually dont live with my parents and I am a successful lawyer...and I am one of the biggest Rock fans...a lot of other people I know are just as successful and they love the Rock..get your fact straight!! If you dont like the Rock and his fan base why are you on his page..Duh!!!
@haitianrasberry How does somebody judges for himself that he is successful, is by comparing yourself with others or just simply when you are done with something that you aim for???
@MrFirlyes why is this the highest rated comment? Fake wrestling fans, HBK actually did sweet chin music to the Rock. How is THIS the closest they been to each other
@Fondrom umm ok, I already knew that and that has NOTHING to do with what I just said. I said HBK HAS super kicked The Rock before, so THIS vid isn't the closest they've been to each other. I can't make it any more clearer than that..
wcw bishoff inparticular took tons of shots at the wwf. i remember some towards the rock and stone cold themselves. the rock was a rising star at the time with stone cold as popular as anyone can get. once i saw the rocks star begin to shine i knew wcw was in trouble lol.
@DarkGuitarKid I have never thought of it like that. huh....that actually makes alot of sense. but TNA still has some elements of WCW. the superstars and the smaller arena but it still makes sense. good call
No wonder Sting never joined WWE. The Rock WAS doing his job, promoteing his companey. But he did'nt have to disrespect the talent and the people that put WCW on the map. The Big Show, Jerhico, Eddie,Goldberg, Booker T, even The Undertaker and Kane. All of them started out in WCW. What dose that tell you?
@Patrickdraven It tells you that everyone makes mistakes...even ted turner. Sting didnt join cause he didnt trust how the WWF would use his image, not because he was being disrespected by The Rock
WCW used to disrespect the WWF and its wrestlers all the time. Remember Schiavone giving away that Foley was going to win the World Title? Remember Oklahoma the character that mocked Jim Ross' bell's palsy? Alundra Blayze throwing the WWF Woman's Title in a bin on Nitro?
If Sting could put up with stuff like that (and Ross and Foley are legit friends of his) then I seriously doubt he had much of problem with The Rock borrowing a few catchphrases for a funny promo.
@pepethekingprawn They also let anyone use the tombestone piledriver as a common move to show how WCW guys were tougher than WWF guys (in WWF during the 90s it was a common finisher to use a tombestone). But your examples are more obvious attacks on the WWF
Hey Guys. I just created a attitude era fan blog as a place where attitude era fans can talk and share videos and whatever else. And I MIGHT (keyword) be posting every raw, smackdown, and ppv from the attitude era, but I am still waiting to hear back from WWE's copyright office. And since youtue doesn't allow you to post links in comments, it's( wweattitudeera dot blogspot dot com) Hope you check it out. But there is barely anything on there right now just to warn you.
I found this a little disrespectful. I understand that WCW was trying to put the WWF out of bussness (And as much as Vince want to denie it he want WCW dead like the AWA and NWA) But the superstar they would mock and call old mad this company alot of money. I know they were in the other orginazation but It was Eric not the legends that wanted WWF dead.
@ClaytonFox no i fink hbk was out wit back injury, wud hav love to have seen them at mania suppose it cud still happen if hbk comes out of retirement and rock stops making crappy movies
MEMORIES! This was December 14th, 1998! I was in the crowd that night, live and in living color inside the Tacoma Dome in Washington State.. even Got Jason Sensations Autograph that night! Thanx for posting this!
Shawn was such an Asshole back then tryin to steal The Rock's thurder those were the days nowdays We get the promo stylings of Jack Swagger and Randy Orton

@Fondrom umm ok, I already knew that and that has NOTHING to do with what I just said. I said HBK HAS super kicked The Rock before, so THIS vid isn't the closest they've been to each other. I can't make it any more clearer than that..
topdoginthepin 9 months ago
@MrFirlyes HBK, has sweet chinned The Rock before.
iCoostard 9 months ago
@MrFirlyes fail. he gave the rock a scm before.
thehanser123 8 months ago
@MrFirlyes
well, HBK has been his bitch that time

@MrFirlyes besides the super kick hbk gave the rock at the debut of smackdown?
jjohnson218 8 months ago
wcw bishoff inparticular took tons of shots at the wwf. i remember some towards the rock and stone cold themselves. the rock was a rising star at the time with stone cold as popular as anyone can get. once i saw the rocks star begin to shine i knew wcw was in trouble lol.

Actually TNA is like WWF and WWE now is like WCW
DarkGuitarKid 1 year ago
@DarkGuitarKid I have never thought of it like that. huh....that actually makes alot of sense. but TNA still has some elements of WCW. the superstars and the smaller arena but it still makes sense. good call
TheCTh19 1 year ago
@DarkGuitarKid
Bwahahaha... this made me laugh because TNA sucks so hard it makes me feel nostalgic for the Russo era of WCW...

Patrickdraven 1 year ago
@Patrickdraven It tells you that everyone makes mistakes...even ted turner. Sting didnt join cause he didnt trust how the WWF would use his image, not because he was being disrespected by The Rock
TheCTh19 1 year ago
@Patrickdraven
If Sting could put up with stuff like that (and Ross and Foley are legit friends of his) then I seriously doubt he had much of problem with The Rock borrowing a few catchphrases for a funny promo.
pepethekingprawn 1 year ago
