living in a free society does not mean you are free from want or need but how in that free society the want or need inspires you to overcome and freely choose your own path. that being said in the U.S. a free education is not free. The so called free education is very costly to the taxpayer and the ones who eventually pay back the loans to advance their education as well as the military members who serve to pay for theirs in ways an average student will never understand.
@teniootti and also, education measured based on a 15 year old "compulsory" schooling level. It's easy to get a bunch of farm children to learn their ABCs, but it's what happens after that that's important (basically, comparing 15 year olds in spotless Finland to 15 year olds in inner-city Detroit is like comparing apples and oranges. Densely populated western cities such as Paris and London did worse on your PISA than sparse metro areas in the cold regions. It's not a European thing.)
@teniootti I wouldn't be so sure about that. If you look at the top 10 universities in the world, more than 50% are in the US (on multiple rankings,) and among those, our Ivy Leagues tend to give out the most financial aid. I've been in free New York City public schools my entire life and am going to school/dorming for free at the Macaulay Honors College of CUNY (also top ranking.) I would say that, here, it's really a matter of what you make of your own education.
i heard this on American Dad and ever since then i been wondering...how has this song managed to escape from me over time. However now that i have it i feel alot better.
I love this ballad. I think of an asteroid hitting The Earth & destroying it when I hear this ending humanity on this planet in a sad, epic, & memorable aftermath.

Dont be so sensitive and ashamed Americans. Gershwin is up there too.
You have many great unappreciated, underrated talents. And it cant be easy nurturing genius on a higher ground, when massacres and exploitation are a few of the ony things to draw upon for inspiration.
Classical Music has always, in my eyes, been one of the greatest collaborative human efforts still acknowledged and performed today. Orchestras across the world know and play such wonderful melodies as teams of many. There's no fuss, there's noone taking charge, just everyone playing their part. Glorious.
I've played this piece before with a very large orchestra and to hear it on that scale is one of the most breath taking feelings in the world. I have chills for the duration of the song. It's one of the most gorgeous pieces of music I've ever heard.
