Wow.. I've listened to WOY for awhile now, I just found out David passed away. . This has brought tears to my eyes.. I am so sorry to hear. =**( Prayers and love go out to the family.
Dear Dio, and others, Thank you for your kind words. Today is Valentines day, a time to think about and show love and tell others they are loved by you. I love my children, David, Michael, Laura and Marie. Today, and everyday, for eternity we will think about David...we miss him.Tell your family and friends every chance you get, how important they are to you.
Found these guys just minutes ago in related videos to Dagoba. One of the best mellow metal bands I've ever heard. I have no intentions of getting mixed up in genres, so, if "mellow metal" is "incorrect," then I apologize. But I haven't heard much like this to have a name for it without searching it on Wiki (which I don't feel is necessary). The only bands I could compare it to is Type-O-Negative and Opeth... Actually, it's kind of a combination of those two...
Thank you for your message. The best thing I ever decided to do was to become a Mother. Truly, I feel so lucky to have been David's Mom. We, Myself, David's Brother Michael, , Sister's Laura and Marie are working hard at learning how to grieve. Our life is now forever changed because David is dead. I ask with all sincerity, to those who knew David, Loved and Respected him and to those who also related to his music to please keep in contact with us. We need you to help us adjust
@awesomdor it's got the vibe of the inbred sun between the mantle and pale folklore. but it isn't agalloch, the way the music feels is completely different and so is the use of the acoustic guitars. you're right though, it's got the quality, both lyrical and musical, of agalloch and it's that's good
I received the message" Mom, I am on my way home..." Several hours later an officer was at my door to tell me my son had been killed on a highway near Barrie. David , his brother and two sisters and I had Christmas family Plans in the USA. The four of them were going Sky diving on New years Day. Sadly, only three of my four children went sky diving. His one Sister said just before the dive" Dave, this jump is for you..." Thank you for loving my son and appreciating his music. David's Mom
@EstherJussila if you are really his mom, then I am truly sorry for your loss. I always felt the lyrics were deeply personal, poetic, and simply wonderful. May he rest in peace, he was a wonderful talent.
@EstherJussila this song makes my eyes wet every time i hear it, now knowing the soul behind this music is gone, somehow tears keep rolling down my cheeks, although I did not knew him personally, it feels as though a part of my soul has been torn off. this music piece by piece made a part of the man I am today, I'm so sorry for your loss and wish you lots of strength in these darker days.
@EstherJussila Please, mrs.Jussila, the next time you visit his grave, just tell him "hello from Greece" and that I wish him peace forever :'( Tell him that someone named Dio became a fan a few days ago and I hope he is playing checks with Terje Bakken. Take courage please D':
I'm much more affected by the death of Gold than I was of any other recent deaths in the metal genre. I'm genuinely upset, and that's pretty rare for me. Rest in peace David Gold, you will be severely missed.
I just watched a video of them where he prophetically claims "by the time you read this I will be Dead" some people have dealt with the reality of death.
this sing have gotten me through three girls, and this man has gotten me through every downfall in my life. To David Gold the man I say this, you will live one in me and many others, I will remember you and your music till it is my time to pass into the void.
ive notice that this band works more on instrument volume than vocal volume you can hear the vocals but they are hard to hear unless you actually listen for them
i listen to this song everytime im taking a nice bubble bath with some nice bath salts and aroma theraputic candles...really helps me unwind from a long day of making telemarketing calls....salesman of the year bitches
I see many have suggested the band Agalloch to those who enjoy this type of (amazing) music, and I agree 100%...they are one of my very favorite bands.
But might I suggest adding the band Insomnium to the list, although not as "folk" sounding, but certainly similar in their tone, mood and artistry (imo)
Thanks so much for posting this/these songs...I now have a new favorite band to add to the list! Now off to my digital music store and start downloading :)

Amazing song. Fucking awesome live; just saw them in Vancouver a couple of days ago (can't wait to listen to the 7" i bought). One of my favourite shows I have ever seen. Sucks that their van's windshield got smashed in my some local elitist pricks....
