This is one of the few videos on my "favorites" list. I watch/listen to it every once in a while. It helped me let go of organized religion, and move on to a better ideology. I love this video. I look forward to more content.
I like this video, but religion is not faith, nor hope... religion is an institution. Government for example also an institution, we are the only minds that can achieve their dreams, that was nicely said, and so my dream is to live forever, under the kingdom of the God which I know,is that an impossible dream?if we believe we came from brutal heritage and have come so far in a few thousand years of "recorded" history, why not believe there are others who gave us the answers to things we inquired?
@mcsc177 "When you are studying any matter or considering any philosophy, ask yourself only: what are the facts, and what is the truth that the facts bear out. Never let yourself be diverted by what you wish to believe but look only and surely at what are the facts."
@dogmaticCURE nice quote, but the fact is there is nothing certain, only probabilities. Is immortality a fact? not here on earth, no.Is it possible, maybe. Is God a fact?not to everyone, but to me, yes.Is it a fact that the earth is about 93 million miles from the sun? most likely it is,but is it certain without a doubt? no. Not to you not to me not to anyone, it is not even a fact that history is as it is shown, we do not know facts... especially not in regards to this.
@kyusscircus Francis Bacon never heard of evolution through natural selection, DNA, big bang or stellar nucleosynthesis. If a bright mind such as Bacon could be granted the understandigt of modern biology or cosmology, I'll bet he would make different quotes about religion.
@dogmaticCURE I think you're selling the man a little short, he is after all considered to be the father of modern science for a reason. This is a man who built his life on answers or "facts", or as close as you can come to truth. Facts, what are facts, they're just data, nothing set in stone. He however ventured to come as close as possible to it, with hypothesis and ceaseless experiments. 1...
@dogmaticCURE ...2. A man who I think would no doubt be astonished at what our civilization has discovered since his time, not completely surprised, but he would still hold to his truths. We forget that physics (the answer to our universe) and philosophy (the answer to our minds--state of being--the universe) are one in the same. The word "religion" has been misused in our time, the negative connotations are really unnecessary and truly un-scholarly.
@mcsc177 No one gave us answers. We earned them ourselves through inquiry, science and brilliant once in a century minds. If god exist he made man curious and the universe vast and complex so that we may be occupied by it
@drizzlenumba1 Yea, he did, but just like a child needs to be fed when he is a baby, the same is for mankind, all the mythologies, and fairy tales and myths, and stories. They all derive from something, and we were helped to a certain point in which we could understand ourselves. If not, we'd be animals. and im not saying in the "mammal" sense, but in the non-caveman, "civilised" sense.
@mcsc177 that is cowardly. Believing in an afterlife based upon morality gives you no drive. I see no reason to believe in a God, for there is no proof. Why listen to a bible that was written in the bronze age by brutes detailing events that transpired two hundred years before the fact. Religion is faith, faith is illogical. It is irrational belief based upon, when it comes down to it, being scared. I would believe in anything if there was proof, but the only proof is an old dusty book.
@TheGreenMonkeylfh there is so much ignorance to your comment, I won't even give a response. There is nothing cowardly about believing in life after death, we die every day when we fall to sleep, and many of the greatest minds in all of history believed in life after death.
There is nothing wrong believing in any kind of afterlife or reincarnation
BUT the fact is the same people who wrote about afterlife, God and everything also wrote about all kinds of natural events like fluds, earthquakes, volcanoes etc being caused by some kind of God, but now average human being can easily explain it all in science.
Sort of makes me loose faith in whatever was wrote in bible and everything else religious over 2-thousand years ago.
this is just funny, its rediculous. If there is no god there is no world. cause the world is not eternal. what the fuck do u want to show with this movie? there are no boundaries??? Tell that to the children in afrika, who america lets suffer so they can become richer.
@rubenvdpol "If there is no god there is no world. cause the world is not eternal". What logic is that?! Are your parents immortal as well?
And because there are poor people in Afrika we should stop being optimistic about anything? Go help them, if you don't like the situation. But just randomly attacking people on the internet for having some positive mindsets won't help anybody.
And last, we're all getting brainwashed, from the moment we're born. This process is called "learning".
@Zylinderz everything is made by something? or it must exist forever?
brainwashed is something else than learning. We are living in a world thats pretty fucked up and we are rich and materialists while people are dying. We fly to the moon while other ppl suffer cause we are so rich and spend that money on some stupid journey to the moon. and u cannot agree with what i say but we keep those countries poor by purpose, and maybe i didnt understand shit about this movie
@heavymetaldeath4life well im not going to try prove somethin here, but u know about something like the big bang, well before the big bang was nothing, cause time didnt exist before the big bang.
@rubenvdpol Well, the Big Bang model breaks down at Planck scale. So if time doesn't exist outside the universe, that means that the universe itself is eternal but the matter instead it is not.
Religion is truly a fairy tale for scared souls. This world we live in is divine and it's the only paradise there is. Books that claim otherwise a a disgrace to life and should be banned!
This is not a problem with religion nor with science.
religion and science were made by humanity, which makes them convenient tools. The problem, rather, is with humanity itself( or at least with some parts of it).the truth is a lot more complex and impossible to separate from injustice and opaque motivations. People are strange creatures and to simplyfying all of it with the words ''fear'' and ''curiosity'' is really not enough to get at the nature of things
if everyone could watch this and understand it i wounder how many people will pull their heads outta the clouds and realize why, what and how things are happening to our world and stop basing their beliefs on fear (religion) and base it on fact
I am 14 years old, and I wasn't afflicted with any religion as a child so I was a natural Atheist. Later while visiting my family in Europe, I would be converted to Islam, but would return to Atheism soon after. 4 years later I was converted to Christianity by my best friend. But I constantly think about things and inquiry again led me to Atheism. Many of the thoughts and ideologies that I thought up were presented in this video, I am greatly appreciative, thank you.
I disagree with the notion of removing faith in the afterlife altogether. Consider that in this heavily religious influenced world, faith that the end isn't the end is what keeps a lot of people going. I feel serious consequence may come regarding the stability of society if we were to remove this faith altogether. Instead, it should maybe play second fiddle to the collaboration of our species, rather than let ourselves be dominated by it. Otherwise, I loved this, and it truly spoke to me.
@Zabba64 Theres nothing wrong with faith until my faith clashes with your faith and then we argue and fight over them. If we all believed in one universal factual truth (science) then we as a human race could accomplish anything we think of.
@SukarMadrid we were never monkey its already been shown that monkeys and humans just have a similar species we evolved from so creature A became creature B and then Creature C.
@SukarMadrid No worries, you've always been human... you simply share a common ancestor with today's great apes.
Evolution simply states that randomly varying replicators produce non-randomly varying traits due to natural selection. (Survival of the fittest)
Even if you believe in the biblical account of creation - then there was at one point, only two people of the same ethnic origin. How would you then account for multiple ethnicities if you don't believe in evolution? (rhetorical)
By any chance could you post the script in the description, I would really like to read it and have it in front of me. It is hard to capture everything you say in the video because some of the statements provoke deep thought and then I miss 30 seconds of the video.
@TheBurmanUnicorn I believe that is Edwin Hubble, along with Father LeMaitre and Prof. Eddington, they came up with the idea , mathematics and proof for the Expanding Universe / Big Bang theory.
I absolutely loved this until the end where it was said we need to accept that we will cease to exist. The idea that we are definitely temporary is very ignorant. No one on this earth knows for definite what our consciousness truly is, so to say we must accept the fact we are definitely temporary is, in my opinion, a little wrong. Otherwise, brilliant video.
You know... you can believe in whatever you want,as long as it doesn't harm the others.
And it's a good thing people still live like there is another dimension, an afterlife (even the atheists do live like that), people live like there is plenty of time, procrastinating their desires and dreams... if people started to truly live as they want to (as if they knew they are really going to leave), Earth would surely turn into hell.
@MYLOVEDEARFLEA I do not live like there is an afterlife. I live as if life is worth living. That's it. Do not attempt to impose your beliefs on others who clearly do not share them.
@logicked ok, understood. When I said 'people' I meant the majority, not everyone.
But what do you mean by 'do not attempt to impose your beliefs...'? I would never try to impose anything. I'm just sharing my opinion, my view, and want to know what others think about that.
@MYLOVEDEARFLEA You said that atheists live as if there is an afterlife. "Some atheists" would be correct, because gods and afterlives can be believed in separately, but with "the" it reads as "all atheists".
"Project" would have expressed my meaning better than "impose". I meant that I don't like being assigned a belief by you, as though I am lying about what I do or do not believe. Would you appreciate it if I told you that you do not believe what you claim to believe?
@logicked As I said, when I meant people I didn't mean every person, same thing when I said 'even the atheists', I wasn't saying every atheist.
I think I know what you are trying to say. I attached you to something, accidentally. I am sorry. I used the wrong combination of words. Thank you for showing that to me.
@logicked just to clarify it a little bit more, I mentioned atheism because I was thinking mainly about the afterlife beliefs connected to gods. I should have said 'even most of the people who don't believe in judging gods or afterlife still live as if there were gods upon us or an afterlife'. That would have made my comment even bigger, however.
"does it mean humans were born WITH ingenuity and violence"
Not exactly. To say that we were born With ingenuity and violence implies( makes it look as if ) it's some genetic part of us. While this is probably true, what is meant by "through" is that our experiences shape us to be what we are. It's looking at things from a more environmental viewpoint. Rather then a genetic viewpoint. So "through" means that it was the world that made us what we are. Make sense?
@PulpFic7ion They were referring to how humans thrived through our intelligent and violent nature. So yes, they meant to say humans were born WITH ingenuity and violence.
@T0PSLAYER117 I disagree. "We were born through ingenuity and violence" makes it clear that ingenuity and violence were the cause (metaphorical mother) for modern humanity. "We were both with ingenuity and violence" would mean that as individuals we naturally have ingenuous and violent tendencies, but it would not state as clearly that the modern human civilization directly resulted from those two characteristics.
you say that albert einstein was a man of science ,which i know he was, but he did express some of hisgreatest achievments through a dogmatic weapon because he worked in the manhattan project which i believe made the atomic bomb. im not trying to conradict you im just trying to make a point.I understand that he made many scientific breakthroughs. Thanks for the video
@SpenceIsAChef Because they were all Jews. Please tell me how many black Jews you know.... If Jesus is black, then Buddha is a Mexican and Muhammad resembles Mr. Rodgers
@idontgiveafork Beliefs you already hold influence the beliefs you will eventually pick up. If you hold a belief without rational foundation (possible eternal existence), then it is more likely you will pick up other irrational beliefs in your life. That is the danger of these little beliefs: they often lead to big mistakes.
Case in point: the people who join cults. As smart and intelligent as we, but their irrational beliefs made them susceptible to further irrational beliefs.
You bastard! You got my eyes all watery from overexposure to awe. I wish I was forced to watch this as a kid rather than sitting through Sunday school every week.
@windumaster14 "It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it."
@icarus212001 "I'm not an atheist and I don't think I can call myself a pantheist. We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many languages. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written.
@windumaster14 He was born jewish, but was far from it. Jewish people have pride knowing that they had one of the greatest minds the world has ever heard of, but he was just BORN jewish. When he says, "God" he doesnt mean the christian god or the jewish god. He means a greater power or nature, whether in him or else where.
If anything MLK believed in god. He was christian I believe.
@JesusForLife24 Do you honestly not know how to spell the word, "believe"? You'd think someone who claims to believe would know how to spell the damned word. That might help you out in the future.
LOL im not trolling And B: no you do not understand i do not care if it improve my chances to get into heaven or not i belive i will serve my God and then he will reward me that is what i belive dont bother responding i will not reply.
@JesusForLife24 Then you forget what your original point was. Alternatively, here's what your whole argument boils down to: "LALALALALALALALALALALA I CANT HEAR YOU"
@elhockey1 A: Once again no I do not and you can not tell me I belive in that because i do not belive that, B: But you belive that it will keep you on the ground and yes there are millions but yet you still chose atheism.
@JesusForLife24 No I dont believe I will stay on the ground. I use evidence to develop a theory that will explain how gravity works and predict that I will stay on the ground.
B. You still dont understand. Being indoctrinated into christianity doesn't improve your chances of getting into heaven. Because any other religion of millions could be right. If Mithra is god you and I will have the same punishment. I sincerely hope you are trolling, for your sake.
I think people fear death too much and the fear of death doesn't allow them to live life fully.

Nothing can destroy matter.
Flying to the moon in 1969 cost 25 billion
Since 2001 cost of war in iraq alone to usa was 800 billion and counting,
1.3 trillion of all wars for usa only since 2001
25billion is nothing compared to what usa uses on war artillery at very little time.
cost of flying to to the moon is irrelevant.

But I constantly think about things and inquiry again led me to Atheism. Many of the thoughts and ideologies that I thought up were presented in this video, I am greatly appreciative, thank you.

WHY CANT I ADD THIS TO MY FAVORITES ???
sethdesade 1 month ago
I disagree with the notion of removing faith in the afterlife altogether. Consider that in this heavily religious influenced world, faith that the end isn't the end is what keeps a lot of people going. I feel serious consequence may come regarding the stability of society if we were to remove this faith altogether. Instead, it should maybe play second fiddle to the collaboration of our species, rather than let ourselves be dominated by it. Otherwise, I loved this, and it truly spoke to me.
Zabba64 1 month ago
@Zabba64 Theres nothing wrong with faith until my faith clashes with your faith and then we argue and fight over them. If we all believed in one universal factual truth (science) then we as a human race could accomplish anything we think of.

Guds777 1 month ago

Best Video on YouTube in my opinion!

But just think about that.
I may be wrong, I may be right. Tell me what do you think about that.
MYLOVEDEARFLEA 1 month ago
You know... you can believe in whatever you want,as long as it doesn't harm the others.
And it's a good thing people still live like there is another dimension, an afterlife (even the atheists do live like that), people live like there is plenty of time, procrastinating their desires and dreams... if people started to truly live as they want to (as if they knew they are really going to leave), Earth would surely turn into hell.
MYLOVEDEARFLEA 1 month ago
@MYLOVEDEARFLEA I do not live like there is an afterlife. I live as if life is worth living. That's it. Do not attempt to impose your beliefs on others who clearly do not share them.
logicked 1 month ago in playlist Favorite videos
@logicked ok, understood. When I said 'people' I meant the majority, not everyone.
But what do you mean by 'do not attempt to impose your beliefs...'? I would never try to impose anything. I'm just sharing my opinion, my view, and want to know what others think about that.
MYLOVEDEARFLEA 1 month ago
@MYLOVEDEARFLEA You said that atheists live as if there is an afterlife. "Some atheists" would be correct, because gods and afterlives can be believed in separately, but with "the" it reads as "all atheists".
"Project" would have expressed my meaning better than "impose". I meant that I don't like being assigned a belief by you, as though I am lying about what I do or do not believe. Would you appreciate it if I told you that you do not believe what you claim to believe?
logicked 1 month ago
@logicked As I said, when I meant people I didn't mean every person, same thing when I said 'even the atheists', I wasn't saying every atheist.
I think I know what you are trying to say. I attached you to something, accidentally. I am sorry. I used the wrong combination of words. Thank you for showing that to me.
MYLOVEDEARFLEA 1 month ago

Make sense?
Foxcanine1 1 month ago
@PulpFic7ion They were referring to how humans thrived through our intelligent and violent nature. So yes, they meant to say humans were born WITH ingenuity and violence.
T0PSLAYER117 1 month ago
@T0PSLAYER117 I disagree. "We were born through ingenuity and violence" makes it clear that ingenuity and violence were the cause (metaphorical mother) for modern humanity. "We were both with ingenuity and violence" would mean that as individuals we naturally have ingenuous and violent tendencies, but it would not state as clearly that the modern human civilization directly resulted from those two characteristics.

Why can't we have both? Appreciation of our mortality AND a possible eternal existence? I believe that is what we should strive for.
This is VERY well done and thoughts and ideas like this is why YouTube exists (regardless of what it's become).
idontgiveafork 2 months ago
@idontgiveafork Beliefs you already hold influence the beliefs you will eventually pick up. If you hold a belief without rational foundation (possible eternal existence), then it is more likely you will pick up other irrational beliefs in your life. That is the danger of these little beliefs: they often lead to big mistakes.
Case in point: the people who join cults. As smart and intelligent as we, but their irrational beliefs made them susceptible to further irrational beliefs.
